Looking at a 2000 plate Aero on Saturday, specced like you wouldn't believe, only done 45k - for sale at a dealer with full warranty for 4.7k, thats an awful lot of car for the money
-
Deposit left last night - now got to decide what to replace it with. Better half is pushing for a BMW 528i Touring, I'm keeping "oddball" and fancying Saab 9-5 Aero estate, 250bhp, fwd, estate - most of loaded with equipment, seem to be pretty solid mechanically and theres a good specialist network - must admit I struggle with the BMW image

I think I must be getting old and slowing down
-
I'm not so sure - done 340 miles over the last week in my G60, mixture of cross country and 80'ish on M1 / M6, I always check fuel consumption by brimming and dividing mileage done by fuel put in - I averaged 33.6mpg I certainly wouldn't say that I drive overly gently, I'm disappointed if I ever actually drop below 30mpg
-
Over 50,000 miles in my previous G60 I averaged 36.4mpg The Nugget, which is far from standard mechanically easily returns over 30mpg on a regular basis

Anyone know whether the original gearlever knob in black is still available from the Stealers and at what kind of money
-
Sounds like a simple matter of tensioning the belt - shouldn't be more than a 2 min job

Happily meet up with you in Shrewsbury if thats any use

I remember reading the same article - how wrong can somebody be

It is interesting to see that many magazine articles, at the time of the Corrados launch were actually quite negative about the cars styling, saying it was either plain or already dated - its definitely a car which time has been extremely kind to, much like the current 5 series BMW which has definitely grown more appealling with time (my opinion only of course  )
-
The problem with many of the more designs ithat consist of skirts, vents, spoilers etc is that they tend to date very quickly, look at how dated a Seires 1 Escort RS Turbo looks when compared to a Mk2 GTi 16V or 205 GTi 1.9. I liked the look of the Astra VXR when I first saw pictures of it but a neighbour has one and even now its starting to look dated. Clean, simple lines always wear the test of time best of all

I've got a Cobra full closure alarm on mine and never given any trouble whatsoever
-
Can't go wrong with either G-Werks or JMR, both offer quick turnarounds if you want to remove and send to them, I've had personal experience of Jabba workmanship and I personally wouldn't feel comfortable having a charger rebuilt by them
-
... ok so its only a Laguna but they are offering free 24 / 48 hour test drives. Car is delivered and collected from your home address by Avis and you can opt for no follow-up contact from Renault so there is no sales pressure etc Useful if anyone has any trips planned where you don't want miles piled on your own car Heres the link http://www.renault24td.co.uk/Step1.aspx

Struggling to see how that could be improved

Love the honesty and sheer cleanliness of Judiths old Storm, the look of Rado-Steves 1.8T on its LM's, the originality and shine of Drews G60 and the sheer amount of work / effort that has gone into the various big power VR6's

Welcome to the Forum. Intermittment electrical probles are my worst nightmare - looking at my 17 year old wiring is frightening sometimes. Only advice I can offer is to think it through methodically, check the easy to reach joints, connections first and if / when you need to start replacing items start with the smaller / cheaper bits first. Best of luck

Decided to break - suprisingly straightforward

Corozin - you're so right  -
Yep, I bought it after Christmas - good harmless fun, the exhaust note on that AMV8 is totally to die for - brought back happy mmories of my weekend with one last year. The Ascari is pretty impressive too

Golf 4Mo is a damned good car that will probably always live in the shadow of the R32. Given a free choice I'd probably opt for a 4Mo with some sensible mods to get an R32 slayer with street sleeper looks and money left over

'll just get on with being a sad bastard then - might even sew a new patch on my anorak tonight, after ironing my underpants of course :D -

Ha - my G60 has the later bonnet and grille so no need to change - bit stumped on how to get a VR6 looking like a G60 though  -
Had intermittent dipped beam for a while so cleaned up all connections on the wiring and fitted a new in-line fuseholder and fuse - now works perfectly

Remembered that I had a spare 1/18 Revell Corrado and a tin of Nugget Yellow paint lurking somewhere, little winter project for the evenings -
Reading these tales of woe makes me realise how lucky I appear to have been with my G60's - total of 80k covered in them and only one breakdown - the toothed belt flying off on the way to Le Mans last year  If i was reliant on a car that was not inspiring confidence I think I'd have to cut my losses and buy something that I knew would start every day and get me where I needed to go without fear of breakdown.
