  1. After much deliberation I decided to break the Corrado - bit of a whim but amazed how straightforward it was, doors, bonnet, dsahboard off / out within the space of an hour, even managed to get all glass out without any breakages.

    Rocking G60

The very nature of a solid mount as opposed to an OE one is that it will transmit movement / vibration through the car to a greater extent than an OE mount which will soak up much of this. When my mounts needed changing on my previous G60 I was advised to change all mounts as fitting one solid one in conjunction to worn originals was likely to throw up issues.
  3. Congratulations, just make sure you're one of th 18% who are still in the industry after 12 months
  4. No- definitely not Blue Joes - these are brand new, looking forward to getting them now, help to tidy up the engine bay a bit

  6. Toad - I was wondering what they'd look like in black as well - continue with the black and yellow theme.
  7. The 1.9 GTi Speedlines are amongst the most gorgeous of all OE wheels but I don't think they'll suit a Rado
  8. Custom made washer bottle, PAS fluid bottle and header tank - should look OK once polished up :)
  9. 599GTO (with a 750PS 630GTO option) based on Ferrari 599GTB and built by Vandenbrink Design Coupe is simply stunning but convertible is even better
  10. Must admit to really liking it myself - the photos do not do it justice - simply stunning in real life.
  11. It was a record car built by Volkswagen, completed 13,033 miles in August 1988, its still an 8 valver but tuned to 220PS. These are the stats from its runs at Ehra-Lessien, converted from kmh to mph 1 flying lap - 164.29 mph 6 flying laps - 160.70 mph average 500 kilometres - 163.15 mph average 500 miles - 162.51 mph average 1000 kilometers - 163.61 mph average 1000 miles - 160.73 mph average The holes in the rear window are indeed for re-fuelling and it was also running a four outlet exhaust system.
  12. As per the title the whole event live today
  13. If you don't get anywhere with whats in the pipeline feel free to drop me a line, I know the MD of Robinsons and have contacts at a few other VW sites in Suffolk - in the motor industry there is at least a 40% annual turnover of sales staff so there are always opportunities becoming available. I have been working on some research to demonstrate just how bad things are (and how easy it is to sell cars and make money if you do the basics right) - some of the figures are frightening. 78% of the people who go out and look at a car buy one 20% is the average closing ratio. 89% of the people want to drive the car before they buy it. 85% decided to buy a car before they even walked on the site. 62% of the people told their salesperson they were
  14. You're dead right. The motor industry is one of a handful of industries where you can really progress through your ability to do the job rather than your qualifications. There are a lot of poor quality people in the job, from the people I work with I'd probably employ less than 50% of them but I also know people who earn £100k a year and left school with no qualifications.
  15. I have never seen the point of any off road type vehicle that is used primarily on the road. Whilst the X5, for example is in isolation, a good car, a 5 series estate is cheaper, quicker, more economical, just as spacious (unless you really need the dwarf sized 3rd row of seats), handles better, rides better - for Gods sake why buy the X5
  16. The more I think about the General Sales Manager job the more it appeals, it will mean working every other weekend but I know the business really well and its one of the biggest VW sites in the country so theres lots of opportunity to make a name for myself and move on to Brand Manager within a couple of years - plus the money is potentially extremely good. Other job is used with a used car supermarket chain who want me to go and set-up and run a Training Academy for them, right from initial recruitment through to exit interview - the job appeals but far from convinced about the used car supermarket element.
  17. Motor industry sure is a small world  Looks like I'm going into Christmas with two firm job offers and haven't got a clue which one (if either) I'll take - both appeal to me but for very different reasons.
  18. True - its a long way and I make it a social visit to friends at the same time - lovely driving roads round that part of the country though
  19. Sonicriot - the selling screws role play - the Company running the assessment day must have been Steer Development and probably Kevin Charlton running the event - I had an interview with them earlier in the year - I managed to negotiate the deal at a price increase.
  20. His workshop is down in Littlehampton, West Sussex
  21. Jim - I live further away than you and still take my car to John - he's planning some interesting changes to his 16VG60 next year that sould make it even nicer. Since he went full time on the business he's been snowed under with work - already looking at taking someone on - becoming an agent for several good companies too
  22. B Dub - Yes the Scirocco and Corrado are in the collection, 1/87 scale. Been collecting models for about 15 years now - mainly Ala Romeo, now Volkswagen and general models of cars I have either owned or just like
