  1. I've just sold an old Mk1 Golf GTI to a chap in Dunstable and he's asked me to deliver it which is what im going to do next Saturday. Now i was wondering if anyone from down that way needs a car transporting back up to the Midlands, North west or even Mid wales at a push. All this for £1 a mile from post code to post code. I will be heading back home to Shrewsbury Shropshire along the m1, m6, m54 but can alter the route to suit. Please pm me or text/ring me on 07817416224 or email me at mailto:[email protected] Thank you.
  2. So if i were to get hold of the "control box" from a 91 Corrado i might solve the problem?
  3. Just seen your avatar, are we related?
  4. I beg to differ Carpy. On my 94 VR i have to keep the switch pressed to close the widow. I press it once for it to open. This is on the drivers side window.
  5. Now, been a bit of a lazy arse i can just about manage to briefly press the switch once for the window to come down, but when i want to close it again i have to keep me finger on it until it's all the way up. During this time my finger could have been employed doing much more interesting things like picking the nose or waving at other motorists. Is it possible to make the switch one touch for both up and down movements of the window? My Mk3 Goof use to do it, can i swap bits off that to make it work?

    TT Comp wheels.

Now i've seen a couple of Corrados fitted with these rims and i think they look mighty fine. Do they go straight on or do they fit with adaptors? I have standard suspension so hopefully they won't rub the arches. Are they all the same size and offset? I thank you.
  7. Well it's been a couple of days now and although i've not really been anywhere, all looks well in the expansion tank. The water seems to be holding a steady level when i check it after it has cooled down for a couple of hours. Hope to give it some legs up the motorway this weekend as i've heard of a possible Corrado spotting in a breakers yard so i'll see what happens then. Thanks for all your advice and help in solving this matter.
  8. Collected a new Blue cap and fitted it today. I've topped the water back up but i've not had chance to go anywhere in it yet to see what happens. While i was at the stealers, one of their mechanics drifted past the car and stopped for a chat. I explained the problem to him so he had a quick look. On the right hand side of the expansion bottle there is a black plastic cover, he removed this and showed me where the water escapes if the pressure in the bottle becomes to great. He then pointed to the engine mount thats more or less under the expansion bottle and there was visable signs of water in and around the mount. He reckons that this is the big give away if the expansion bottle is loseing water. Now he seems to think that the nasty Black cap was at fault, causing the bottle to over flow. So hopefully the Blue cap will prevent this. I will let you know soon. The Blue cap was £6.83 including the vat.
  9. I had a look at the water level when i got home this evening after giving the car about 40mins to calm down, and the wter level had risen to bang on the MIN level mark. Had another look just now and it's dropped back down to where it was yesterday! The cap is black, so i will be visiting the stealers in the morning for a replacement in Blue and i will let you know if that makes any difference.
  10. Whilst having a quick scan over the engine this morning in preperation for a spirited drive over to Rockingham, i noticed that the water level in the expansion tank was a bit short of the min mark, so i topped it up to just over the max. The car drove there and back with no drama's. After leaving the car to cool down for about an hour i checked the water level again and it's dropped to below the min mark! It's a VR6 with just short of 51000 miles and with full VW service history. Should i be worried?

    VR6 FANS?

Ah Haa! job done. Not the easiest thing to replace when you have fingers the size of sausages. Also noticed that the car may have had a wing replaced and a new pattern radiator. oh hum.. Sill it is a 13 year old car. Thanks for your help and those great diagrams "Son of Beesting"
  12. I've been having a look at my fans because the rubber belt has come off and im sure that i have only the two fans, should there be a third? If so where's that then?
  13. Badger

    VR6 FANS?

So looking at that, the belt should be at the front of the fan and not at the rear where i found mine?
  14. Badger

    VR6 FANS?

So where abouts do they go around the fan?
  15. Very excited, had to tell someone as the misses was fairly none plused. On the other side of the m6 toll road as we drove home tonight, within about 5 mins of each other, i saw 3 Audi R8's!! Did any one else see um? They were heading towards Tamworth.

    VR6 FANS?

Just returned home after a weekend away and the Corrado never missed a beat despite a good ragging on the m6 toll road. However, when we got home i thought i would just have a quick peep under the bonnet to make sure everything was still there, and i found a thin rubber belt around the righthand side fan motor. Now i am new to these cars so please bare with me, but the second fan doesn't have a motor so i guess that the one fan when activated powers the second fan with this belt? If this is the case, how does the belt secure to the fans?
  17. I have had my vr for nearly a week now and everything is smashing but i am now starting to think ahead. The service history that came with the car is all Volkswagen. Now in an ideal world i would like to keep it that way but the expense would eventualy need me to sell a Kidney. So can anyone recommend a good specialist in the west midlands or north west area thats up to the job?
  18. Arr Mr Sands, i found myself doing the very same on one of my many trips to get petrol, but if any one asked i was looking to see if i had left my lights on! Thanks for the advise chaps. I have greased the sunroof channels this morning after removing the old dirty stuff and all seems well. The spoiler sounds a bit more in depth job and may prevent me from driving it for a couple of hours so i will atempt this along with the door handles at a later date. Happy Easter..
  19. So i have had my Corrado for just short of a week and everything is great. The worst thing is having to park it and go to bed!! Any way, when i was looking to buy a Corrado i came across many tails of non functioning spoilers and sunroofs. Now in an attempt to keep everything moving smoothly can any one tell me if i should be greasing the rear spoiler and sunroof and if so which parts and how much? Thank you..
  20. I did start a topic in another forum earlier in the week when i first saw the car for sale and i was after some advice, so you could track that down. But briefly, it's a one owner from new who i kind of knew, it's done 50.000 miles and it has full vw service history. I stumbled across it at a local Jag garage where the original owner had px it for a new S type. After a bit of a chat with the sales manager he agreed to sell it to me instead of it going to auction as long as i signed somthing to say that there was no come back on them if it blew up on the way home. All the document said was that i had bought the car from them as scrap!! Unfortunatley not scrap price, but still a bargin.
  21. I be from Shrewsbury big Moka, ow bout you?
