  1. Checked the scuttle cover, lifted the carpets, sprayed water on the door windscreen etc , ran the car with blowers full power hot-cold----No leak. I think I know what the problem is is though?????During the holidays I drove through a puddle about 1.5 feet deep. I think there has been an ingress of water that I didn't notice at the time and this is where the water has come from!!!!!!!!!
  2. I don't think the mk2 switch has illumination of the light symbol on the switch, there's one pin less on the connector block. I've bought a warning buzzer to fit between the light switch and the door contact to guard against leaving the light's on
  3. Replaced the broken light switch with a mk2 switch....much better switch and everything working again as it should.....got a set of right hand drive guages....in the process of fitting these at the moment however i think the matrix has just chucked it....therefore will investigate and makes the fitting of the guages a little bit easier and i'll wire up the leather recaro's at the same time  Matrix ok; seems that during the holidays when I went througha big puddle I got some water ingress....checked everything today for leaks and nothing/...will keep an eye on it but I think it was that bloody puddle!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. When I got the car 2005 I cleared about two carrry bags full of leaves out of teh scuttle cover.....I'll investigate again....the thing is the coolant level is slightly down in the bottle and the car is suffering terribly from condensation???Although there is still plenty of warm air available
  5. As the title says....soaking wet passenger side. Windows steamed up for ages before clearing with heater on....is this the matrix gone???(I think it is but still got heat coming throug the blowers????How much for a new matrix from VW ?????or is there an alternative from GPC etc???
  6. Good Hard Pull  and out pops the ashtray!!!!!! Many Thanks
  7. Fitted the Mk2 switch and it all works fine and doesn't look that much out of place imho............
  8. I've tried to remove the ashtray housing on my late vr6 I've taken out the screw that holds the housing in place at the back but there seems to be some sort of clips holding it in place....do I just give it a good pull or am I missing something....
  9. Bought one of the mk2 switches....seems a lot more robust than the Corrado switch albeit it looks slightly different......
  10. Agree with diggerbucket....Violet touch....best colour i fI ever resprayed my car this would definitely be a serious option!!!!
  11. Light switch gone again. :( ...bought the kit off the bloke from here to do the temporary repair but broke again....does anyone know of an alternative light switch from another car that will fit and that is better constructed than the crappy C switch????? Loathed to buy another fro VW as through time I know this will just break as well :x
  12. I've got the same problem....drove through a big puddle tonight and noticed the light was on .....will check tomorrow afternoon!!!!!!
  13. Car passed its MOT will no problems....RESULT.....Oh but the mechanic broke the light switch after it had passed and charged me £50 for fitting two ball joints....Although he did say the car was in great condiiton and drove fantastic following a test drive after the alignment was done....
  14. The front calipers on my VR6 are from a GTI Lupo (Chaved-up red calipers-previous owner). The problem is that I bought a set of goodridge hoses for the vr6 and the connections are threaded but the caliper connection seems to be an olive. Is there a connection piece that can be fitted and if so can someone provide teh part numberand a place to purchase?????
  15. Car in for it's MOT this morning and laser alignement following replacaemnt of shockies/springs/top mount/bearings etc. Getting the ball joint's changed at the garage (I've provided VW ones  ) so that the alignement doesnt need done again in the near future!!!!!
  16. It's the Renault Garage oppopsite Partco and National Tyres
  17. Booked the car into Strath-Tune off Burnbank road price £79+VAT although they did seem to know what they where talking about. also getting the ball joints done...PArks quoted £60+Vat for the full geomerty check but couldn't do the MOT at the same time. PAying the extra £20 at that takes care of teh full wack. I'll report back on service????
  18. I've heard mixed reports reports about Bedrock!!!! The guy in the local NAtional Tyres guy recommended the Parks Garage at Peacock Cross....Anyone know anywhere else??????
  19. Changed over the shockies and springs and was going to take it out for a spin to fill up at the garage........Flat battery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Going no where for an hour!!!!!!!!!
  20. Anyone know the significicance of teh different colour markers on the suspension springs on the vr6........my version of ETOS list about 3 different variities suitable for the vr6?????
  21. Andy Good to hear you got the C back on the road......and that engine you got appears to be the nutz...64K that should see the car going well into it's late twenties with no probs!!!!!
  22. I got the first carbon wax starter kit off ebay for £60 (barnd new).........I was that impressed I got a second set with a tattered box for £50...Result me thinks!!!!!!!!!And to be honest I'm not even 1/4 the way through the first tub and the car's been mega waxed for over a year and the missus black mettalic A3 been done a couple of times (It looks the dogz when it's been zymoled...the whole car shimmers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  23. I must be a buyer whore cause I'd already pm'd Rob about the suspension ........the car's sitting on axle stands with the front suspension removed waiting for fitment of new suspension!!!!!!!!! The zymol is the carbon wax for darker paints......take's a bit of effort to apply due to the various preparations required but I think it gives a good finish and it last for ages afterwards.......
  24. Cheers Glenn......The lights where tinted by the previous owner(really well done) I have contemplated changing over the lights to get the OEM look back but i'll stick with the dark coloured lights for the now...
