Hi all! Trying to fit my powerflex wishbone rear bushes - classic - on the box says 'bushes can always be pressed in by hand' - sheet of paper inside the box saying - it is not always possible to fit these bushes by hand. After considerable sweat and a little blood - the paper seems to be right! Anyway it says they can be inserted using a bench vice but mines not big enough - are there any top tips for getting them in using other tools etc/heat (but not a proper press?) Also...are the ARB bushes that mount the ARB to the subframe (not the eye mounts) a very tight fit? seem to be from trial fitting them last night! Thanks in advance! Tom :D

I went for the non cat one - seems to be working fine! :D

Hi Jon! Thanks very much - my heater controls and sunroof switch now look the business! :)
-
Thanks to JMC for doing my heater panel and sunroof switch - top job! :)
-
Anyone had any experience with these? Cheers! :D

Just to add - I can recommend this guy too - mine came next day too and is spot on, at less than half the price of the stealers you can't go wrong for the genuine part! :)

Hi All. Been searching the forum and I'm a bit worried I've got the wrong wishbone bushes for the rado. I bought a full set of powerflex bushes for a Corrado G60 with power steering but the rear wishbone bushes are 203's not 204's These thread says that the 203's are for a mk2 golf and dont fit a corrado g60 wishbone, but 204's are the right part number... viewtopic.php?f=23&t=43313&hilit=powerflex+wishbone+203+204 viewtopic.php?f=23&t=45019&hilit=powerflex+203+204 viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4053&hilit=powerflex+203+204 But both GSF and VW Spares list the same wishbone for a mk2 golf and corrado g60 http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id=119 (07854 on that website) And the powerflex website lists the 203 as the corrado bush. http://www.powerflex.co.uk/products.asp ... ubmit1.y=4 Looking at the wishbones and bushes I have they look like they'll fit (but I know it won't take much difference in size for them not to) - and I know those posts are a little old and so Powerlfex may have changed the part numbers/parts - but have I got the wrong ones? How can the wishbones be the same but the bushes be different? Cheers, Tom

Mine has had similar issues with vague steering but I changed the steering column for a 2nd hand adjustable one and swapped my UJ for a 2nd hand one too (both in very good nick) and has made a big big difference - much tighter steering and less going where it wants to not where I want it to. Its not too tricky either, just need to drill into the heads of the shear bolts and get easy outs into them, and its a bit fiddly getting to the pinch bolt at the bottom of the UJ, but once the lower dash is off its only 5 bolts (or six if you separate the UJ from the column) Now for the poly bushes and new subframe! :)

Hi! I've managed to do all my switches except the heater panel which I realised is a complete mission! I'd like the LED one but my LEDs are all blue as they match the stereo illumination so... ...Is it possible to do the standard icon sheet but with blue illumination on the power dial, blue on the position slider incons and red on the line, and then blue fading to red on the heat slider with a blue square and a red square Basically the same colours as the EL one up there but with blue instead of clear and LEDs not EL! One more thing - is it possible to change the Lighter illumination - yours is red but i'm guessing thats off an audi? Might be the way to go! Cheers! Tom

Cheers! Had another look and the bearing is in there - so just need the spring now! :) Then maybe the Rado will go where I point it and not where it wants too! :)

Hi! Do you know what the difference is between the two then? As I have a decat pipe fitted but it would have originally had one - how come it makes a difference? Need to order one for mine! :) Cheers, Tom

Hmm maybe I've just missed it then...does it press right into that tubing? Can probably re-use the old spring i guess. The bentley manual does give instructions to remove and reinsert it but if its

Or...is it more likely that the bearing is sitting in up in the steering column tube and I can't see it? :)

I have exactly the same problem with mine....the adjustable bit is worn so theres quite a lot of play in the top on one setting but if you move it down a click its much better (Worked for the MOT!). I've picked up a 2nd hand corrado column with no play in it to replace it. Looking at the column I picked up it ends in the splined bit which bolts into the first UJ, but the bentley manual seems to have a picture of a spring and a bearing that need to go on the end before its bolted into the UJ. Seeing as I'm replacing the column, UJ and Subframe/all bushes etc, and have replaced the rack recently too, it makes sense to replace these too...are these available from VW still and does anyone have a part number? Also is the bearing hard to fit? (i.e. press needed?) Here's a picture... Cheers in advance! Tom :)

Hi all I bought a miltek decat pipe last year as I was looking for one with with a box still in it rather than a straight through pipe. One of the welds went on it as the muppets at my local garage neglected to bolt the front engine mount up and snapped it! Anyway I got it welded back up so it didnt blow by a powerflow dealer - but theres a really annoying raspy noise now, mostly on idle or low revs like there is a loose bit of metal or a rough edge inside the box. Looking to get another one the same but miltek don't seem to make exhausts for the G60 anymore?? Is the VR6 one the same? Failing that where can I get just a normal 'bit of pipe' one? Can't seem to find any on ebay any more! Are there good/bad makes for G60 decat pipes? Cheers! :D Tom

Ah! Glad I checked then! Thanks very much! :D

Hi All! Did some searching and trauling through the bentley manual but...no luck Hopefully a very quick question that someone can clear up for me.... which fuel line is the one that brings the fuel to the fuel rail and which is the return? (The one that goes into the fuel pressure reg or the on that goes into the top of the fuel rail?) I'm guessing the one that goes into the FPR but wanted to make 100% sure! Thanks in advance! Tom :D

And what fluid is best to use? The stuff on my drive is bright red (Garage put it in), I've got some VAG stuff I bought last year but not opened it yet - read on another post that its supposed to be green? :D

Hi All! My steerings felt a little 'odd' for a little while now. The car's had a recon'd rack in it since last summer - reading the reports of recon'd racks on here before I thought maybe i'd got a duff one. However I've just arrived at my parents house, went to back in the drive and the steering was really heavy. Got it on the drive and opened the bonnet to here this horrible noise. I've just swapped the head for a P&P one and had teh supercharger rebuilt so feared the worse. :( Then I look across to see Power steering fluid all over the power steering reservoir, althouth the top was on tight. then i look at the floor to see a trickle of power sterring fluid coming fom underneath the car. Have a quick look underneath to see it gushing out of the power steering pump. :( :( So anyway I'm guessing the pump's knackered. EDIT: I've found a second hand pump now (Thanks to Jez at RK engineering! :D ) So is it a case of getting the old one off, putting the new one on and filling it back up. Seem to remember reading somewhere that you have to fill the pump with fluid before you put it back on. And is it possible it would have taken anything else out with it? Fluid seems to be coming from where the pulley mounts into the pump. Any help much appreciated! Tom

Where does the G60 metal water pipe bracket attach??
TomD replied to Supercharged's topic in Engine Bay
It also attaches at the side of the head on the lower stud holding the water flange on! :D -
The stubby bolt its stubbier than the ones going into the head/inlet manifold brackets, looks short and fat compared to them. I'm starting to thing the big long one is actually a spare starter motor/engine mount bracket that I had in my tool box after swapping the bracket over last month - and I've managed to stick it in the pot by accident. Do you have the ETKA picture of where you think it goes in the charger/alt bracket? Cheers guys!
