  1. Hi Pete, Sorry to hear you've been having some bother. Don't come on here much any more but I just found this. Sounds like you've got it cleared up now anyway, but just thought I'd help out to save you any expense (provided you're talking about my old car, that is!). Firstly, the battery was only about 2 months old when you got the car, so it shouldn't be giving you problems, the one in there previously was pretty old, and I assume died of natural causes. It should actually still be under warranty otherwise, got it from Chessington tyres in Guildford (probably a bit of a mission for you though). I personally never had a tracker fitted, I'm not sure if someone else did, though I never had a problem with charging/battery problems before so I wouldn't of thought that would be a problem. Anyway sounds like you found your problem now, just thought I'd try and help to clear things up a bit :)

    Car covers

That's more like it, I don't want to spend a fortune but I'm probably gonna use it for other cars in the future, so something fairly hard wearing and universal fitting is good. I looked in hellfrauds before, but could only find £80 odd ones, a bit steep for me. It's actually under a car port anyway so I definitely want a semi waterproof breathable one. I'll pop down there tomorrow I reckon. Thanks for the input guys, should keep it clean until I get round to driving it. I always fancied having a nice shiney car tucked under a cover somewhere, ready to be revealed 8)

    Car covers

Alright folks, I'm not using my C very often at the moment, in fact it's for sale but nobody's been interested :( so I think I aught to put a cover over it. Anyone got any suggestions as to where I can get a good cover, preferably cheap? I'm thinking some sort of universal fitting as I'm no doubt gonna want to use it on other cars. I found this one, but I'm wondering if it's gonna be any good as it's so cheap! Any thoughts?
  4. Bit late now, but Camberley autos sell them too (the laser jobby, that is). They are as good as they look, they even lock in place too, and suprisingly I've not got my fingers caught up in them yet :)
  5. Being that I own a 156 and a VR, I suppose I better poke my nose in! The interiors are the best thing about alfa's, though beware of the usual tacky plastic bits breaking, and the paintwork is probably about a tenth as thick as VW paintwork. if a gnat farts on it, it'll mark the paint. Other than that though I think it's a great car. To be honest though, if you're looking at the two cars of the same age, I'd get a corrado every time. VW's are built to last (more so than alfa's anyway), and while parts can be bloody expensive, at least you know you can get them pretty quickly from the main dealers.
  6. That's bloody brilliant! I've got some old beetle panels lying around, I'm gonna give that a go I reckon.
  7. Damn. I must admit I looked at that straight off and thought, yeah, I probably would  Orangeness and Man hands are a bit of an issue though, makes me worry that she's called Paul during the week
  8. Ah good work buddy. While everyone's complimenting you I thought I'd say your C's looking rather lovely in your sig pic at the moment too 8)
  9. Cool. I've always liked those things. Proper hardcore, dents = character :D
  10. Mmmmm, lovely. I have an Alfa now. All be it a 156 twin spark. It's only done 55k, and I've only done 5k of those. Now, touching wood here, it's not given me any trouble, and it's a bloody nice car. Not quite got the handling or power of the VR6, but they make lovely interiors. They are rubbish at paintwork though. The lightest stonechip, and you're back to primer. I've been looking out for signs of tackyness, something that'd break easily, but I still can't find anything TBH. I've not experienced buying parts yet though, could be interesting.
  11. Well, I never got a chance to get there this weekend :( Was well looking forward to it, but I didn't have time in the end. I'm off travelling soon so I'm gonna have to forget about it for a few months. Unless I find one in Europe somewhere, could be interesting. I must admit though, I've spotted a buggy that I've just about fallen in love with. Their website's not working at the moment to link to the pic, but you can be arsed, and if it works, go to http://www.manxbuggies.co.uk , click gallery, then look at all the pics of the black one at the bottom. 8) Beautiful.

    Car Bra's

PMSL  I've been away all weekend, glad to see things don't change  I don't mind bras, I think they can look good on beetles and vans, watercooled's with them on is kind of cool too. I do prefer the corrado without though TBH, that little curve at the front of the bonnet is one of my favorite bits, but they do protect the paintwork on said bit. I don't know about ham, for protecting paintwork, but I must agree that it is good. P.S. What about cheese though? Why doesn't it get a fair look in? I had some good cheese this weekend.
  13. Congratulations! 8) Well deserved, lovely car.
  14. Ooh nice one, thanks for the heads up. I'm actually heading to Sheffield this weekend to visit a mate at uni so it's pretty perfect timing really. Will have to try and go there on the way back if I have time. Leavon, do you know anything about Chesil prices at all? I sent them an email but don't really want to hassle them until I'm certain that it's something I want to do.
  15. I've been looking at my beetle project and It's started to dawn on me that it's getting beyond repair. The roof's rusted, both heater channels, footwells, inner wings etc.. You name it, it's rusted. The chassis, however, is in good nick. I've put new floorpans in, all the brakes are new, decent suspension and a good engine. I've been pondering the idea of turning it into a kit car. At first I thought of a beach buggy, but I've got my bike for fun stuff so a buggy would be a bit pointless I'm thinking. Instead I've been looking at 356 Speedster kits. Can't think I'll ever afford a real one, any they're absolutely gorgeous cars 8) . I mean... This is a Pilgrim kit car, dunno if they're any good or not. Just wondering if anyone's got any opinions, or knows of any other kits that would work on the beetle chassis at all?
