    Maybe I'm just an exhaust note geek or something, but i think the 10v and 20v quattros sound very different. Maybe i've got too much time on my hands these days? :)

    Yeah my blue one has a hole in the downpipe - emissions were a touch high ;)

    What sort of whine is it mate? Mine makes a kinda whining sound when cold - always thought it was the transmission until its warmed up? Exactly the same noise as my neighbours 2.8 granada warming up when i was a kid :)

    sorry but the 5cylinder Audi lump has a far superior note than any VR6..........any time I see an ur-quattro going about my window goes straight down and the hi-fi is switched off...........pure aural nirvana 8) I totally agree if you're talking about the 10v mate? Totally awesome haunting warbling sound, that turns savage under full load. Epic :)

    Ah its not so bad mate - even with this head set-back, i'm still gonna end up paying less than a stealth rebuild (not including the trick bits and bobs i've also bought). It is a beast between about 2800 and 4000 revs mate :) It would be really interesting to compare it to your charged beast - i reckon yours will still be quicker all the way up though. I have to be honest - the sound a charger makes is calling me already! :)

    I did mate. But i reckon it was some b*stard creation from various rado, sharan and galaxy parts or something.

    Kev - solid as a rock mate (and yes dr_mat, rocks are definately solid) :) And bizzarely enough the brakes are back to being half decent with no other changes. I'm told my engine was so feked that it was affecting the vacum and therefore the brakes. Is that possible? They're definately much better!

    Ah, but what is it that pulls tree stumps out of the ground? Not power. But I am willing to concede the point just this once. Pulling down the disco is what i'll be doing tonight if my mrs doesn't stop being such an aerosol :)

    Thinking about it, I reckon that expression actually relates to torque dr_mat? Pulling is generally a torque reference? So..... It pulls like a train :) :) :)

    Yeah ok, pulls like a corrado vr6 with schrick cams and inlet manifold then :)

    Not sure mate - Vince will only really know when he takes it apart i guess. To be honest, when i was in the bloke's house buying the head, i had a feeling that he was in 2 minds about actually selling it to me. We seemed to get on with some common interests, and m,aybe he was starting to feel guilty about ripping me off? Who knows. I've got his address.

    He did. It was a risk i took because we thought we'd solved any potential problems. Kev - pulls like a feking train mate. Its absolutely gorgeous and sounds even better :)

    Yes mate i rang the v-meister. He reckons the head i bought off some fekin tw*t on ebay was well dodgy. It's booked in to have a new head whipped on - luckily i don't have to start the running in process again as the bottom end now has 2000 miles on it :)

    Isn't the steering wheel just turned a bit to the left mate? Hard to tell if the toe is out unless you see a font-on shot surely?

    yeah i can see that working. the fast air under the car would definately draw out still air from under the bonnet. and if it's on a tvr then i reckon it would work - have you ever seen how hot the 5.0 litre V8's get! jeez you could fry an egg on my bro's chimera engine covers!

    Yeah there's something wrong with the angle of the front wheel and bonnet. Nice elements in there though.

    Not everyone just wants max power figures mate - a N/A engine is a totally different beast to a blown one. Some people prefer it.

    I'm not so sure - the front wing and bonnet really wrong on this one imo.
