Does anyone know if theres any difference betwen rocker covers on the VR6 models? Seen a cover off an M Reg VR6 (mines K), just wondering if it's the same as mine?
-
The American one asks if you want cheese with that all the time.
-
It's plastic, as are the HT lead holders.
-
Regarding Q4 - The Bonnet Catch Plastic bit. If you look at where the bonnet catch goes in, there looks to be something there, like a bit of plastic?
-
 The bodyshop will be removing it when they respray my replacement bonnet so I wouldn't have to take it off. Cheers!
-
Can you post a pic of yours with the Samco's? (I meant file down the plastic not the HT leads! ) I have a silver bonnet that getting resprayed blue as mine has cracks all over, just debating whether or not to get them to remove the sound deadening. Is there any mechanical reason to keep it?

Got quite a few niggly questions that I could do with some help on. Working on sorting out my engine bay at the moment so it will look mint, almost showy if you like. It's a garaged weekend car so not too bad. Question 1 (White Arrow) - What can I do with these 2 (top mounts??) to make them look much better than the dirty/rusty'ish metal they are at the moment? Question 2 (Blue Arrow) - These are all related to the A/C, fuses etc. Any ideas on how I can hide/make them look better? Can't think of an option. Question 3 (Red Arrows) - Do you think these little plastic bits on the slam panel are still available? The guy on the VW desk doesn't know what I mean so I'll have to go there and show him! I assume it shouldn't be too hard for a bodyshop to sort out replacing all the rusty screws with new ones? Can you get alu screws to stop them rusting again? Question 4 (Green Arrow) - This is where the bonnet catch goes in, am I missing a bit of plastic here? Question 5 - I was thinking of getting a battery bag? There's alu covers on ebay etc but not sure about any other options to sort the battery area out? Question 6 - I've a replacement bonnet that'll get painted shortly, is it a problem to get rid of the underneath sound deadening permanantly? Does it NEED to be there? Question 7 - I have the thicker (middle thickness) Magnacor HT leads, they won't fit in the plastic grooves that the OEM ones do, do you reckon it's possible to file them down or something so they fit? Anyone done this before? Question 8 - Whats the silver bit at the back of then bay called? The cloth heat wrap jobby? Can this only be replaced with another or is there alternatives? Question 9 - My plan is to paint the Inlet Manifold and Rocker Cover matt black and make everything else look new/OEM+. Do you think Black Samco hoses will be a decent addition? Question 10 - Do you think the Air Intake box and tube can be painted as well? Cheers! Andy

Another Bonnet interest here too! Can they be painted? Carbon Sunroof?

Don't buy a full set of headlights or the lenses from that website, as they will be for LHD cars!!! It's a pity the value of the '£' has dropped by so much though, as all those € prices would have worked out a lot cheaper a few weeks back! Thats a good point! The pic above does look quite good and its even the same colour, factor in the price difference and In-Pro's are looking better. Any ideas on whos making the decent wiring looms now?
-
About £400 from that Euro site for a set of headlights!
-
Brilliant! Didn't even know that site existed! Crap! Now I want to spend loads of money! The trouble is I've loads of people saying the In-Pro's look better than original. Don't know what to do!
-
Just got off the phone to VW and the late spec headlights (£150+vat each!!) are showing 0 stock and no information. Basically the guy said its unlikely they'll make anymore according to what he's seeing. So it's either an ebay set or some third party lights like In-Pro's etc. Not sure about them but it appears that we may not have a choice eventually! The tabs are broken on mine and have been glued for the past 2 years. I'm at the 'make the bay look minty stage' and these are causing me a headache!

Had a phone call from Vauxhall today about the missus Corsa! Just so you know the situation, it was serviced (by them) 2-3 weeks ago and they advised that the front disks/pads had 8,000-9,000 miles left. Woman comes on the phone and the conversation went like this; "Hi, it's Sarah from Vauxhall, I'm ringing you to offer you a free brake check as we had an advisory saying yours were getting low at your service, approx 1,000 miles left which is quite dangerous!" 'Really! Why have I got a piece of paper saying that they have 8-9k left on them which you filled in 2 weeks ago when it was serviced?' "Well we thought we'd best ring because you could have reached the limit on them, it says here 1,000 miles" 'What? Do you think my wife has done 8,000 miles in 2 weeks? Or perhaps gone to Oulten Park and done a few laps in her 1.0litre?' "It's just a free check to tell you how much is left on your brakes, and according to my computer you've got 1,000 miles left, 100% certain." 'So you're wanting me to bring the car to you so you can tell me how much is left on them?' "Yes" 'and according to your computer I definately have only 1,000 miles left' "Yes" 'So why would I want a free check when your so sure I've 1,000 miles left?' "So we can check." 'So you're not sure theres 1,000 miles left?' "Yes" 'So I ask again, why do I need a free check if you're sure theres only 1k on them?' "Just so we can be sure!" 'So you're not 100% certain then otherwise I wouldn't need a free brake check!!!' "We like to offer our services to all our customers with something as important as this" 'Ok! Well we don't need them "checking" as theres 8-9k left on them as witnessed by your technicians 2-3 weeks ago and by myself last week!' "I'd get them checked by a professional if I were you" 'You're not listening, there were checked by YOUR professionals 2 weeks ago!' "A lot can happen in 2 weeks!" 'What 8-9k miles!!' "Well.....possibly" I assure you theres 8-9k left on them, I checked them myself "Are you a professional?" No, are you? "I'm not a mechanic, no" So who's right then? Me and YOUR professional mechanics or you and your non-professional computer? "Well it says 1,000 miles here!" (She was getting shirty by this point!) 'And does it have the last service listed on there?' "Yes" 'What does that say?' "Intermediate service, cost £xxx, recommended brake cable change and brake disks/pads in 8-9k miles" 'So not 1,000 then?' "Erm.... no.... errr" 'So what have we learned today then!' Beep.....beep.....beep.....beep..... She hung up! I mean FFS! Imagine them ringing an old person up (or a mech useless woman) and saying all that, of course they'd believe them and pay for something doing! Your brake disks are dangerous!!!! This is from a main dealer as well! Rant over!

Ooops! I was reading the cat replacement pipe! Do you think it'd pass emissions with one removed?
-
Awesome reckon on around £6k-£7k for an R32 conversion into a Rado! Cheaper than an S3! :)
-
Ok, going to forget the superchargers, too much money/hassle/etc! Also going to scrap the shrick idea as like you say, it's a lot for a few extra bhp! One question I would like to know though is my C is a 93 (K) VR6, I've been told that the emissions for that year aren't as strict as the years that follow? From what I gather, I have to have a CAT on but the emissions test isn't as strict as 1994? The reason for this is I'm deciding whether to go for a Sports Cat or a De-Cat? http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/vw%20corrado/exhausts.html It's about £65 for the Milltek Sports Cat, worth it? (hey I didn't create another thread! :) )

Ok, a while back I mentioned that we'd be taking the Corrado on a Euro Road Trip for a holiday! This is the prelimary route; Keighley, West Yorkshire St Osyth, Essex (Ma & Pa!) Rotterdam, Holland Cologne, Germany Schwaig, Germany (Wife's friend) Innsbruck, Austria Thun, Switzerland Strasbourg, France Somewhere, Luxembourg St Osyth, Essex (Ma & Pa) Keighley, West Yorkshire Haven't said how long at each destination we'll stay but this is over 2 weeks and covers approx 2,150 miles! Anyone done this type of thing? Any places (along the route, don't want to do too much extra driving!) that you'd say are better to go to? It's mainly the Holland and Germany part we're not sure of, and also where in Switzerland? Bear in mind there is a bit of a budget so no where really rediculous! We'll be going in July. Thoughts?
-
Right, after some thought I've got a plan! I'm going to forget the major stuff and do the fairly easily obtainable (and affordable) 'smaller' mods/additions! My plan is to now; Milltek Exhaust & Sports/De-Cat Carbonio CAI/BNC CDA Replace My Spare Wheel (ok, don't have one at present) Paint the engine metals matt black & generally make the bay look minty Black Samco hoses Sort out any little chips/scratches so it's nr mint bodywork Audioscape pods and sub thingy in boot Repair Worn Leather Bolster Moonroof if I can find one Other mods as a possibility; (ie unlikely but if opportunity/funds permit!) Audi TT Dash (just need to figure out how much to get one fit) Carputer

Maybe I should keep the engine as is and buy some really nice £1200 wheels! :)
-
Maybe a 2nd hand charger (in good nick!) would be a good compromise! Are there any tests that can be done on my engine that will tell me if anythings likely to go pop if I suddenly supercharged it? The guy at Storm said he'd only Supercharger a VR6 if the engine internals had being upgraded already, although he may have being talking about 300bhp versions.
-
Had a nice chat with a guy at stormdevelopment (listed above) and one of the first things he said was 'don't supercharge'! To cut a long story short he said the best thing to do is to swap it for an R32, Source the engine yourself, fit it, buy the ecu from us and swap it for your existing one, then remap. He said it's not complicated and it's just getting the new engine plumbed in etc. Out of the £6.5k minimum charge for a drive in, drive out R32 install he said about £4.5k would probably be all labour! Arrrrgh! Maybe I should just stick with a Corrado VR6, that works! :)

Any ideas if anyone does an intercooler setup?
-
Thats true, forgotten about them! I'd want to 'do it properly' so to speak, intercooler etc. Do you think £2k would be enough?
-
Ok, here the situation. It's always being my plan (had the C 2 years up to now) to replace the engine with an R32 lump or possibly 1.8T. I've got coilovers on (ready for a diff engine) and tried to replace things with the idea that it'll have another engine in the future (like powerflex bushes all round). Anywho, as of late I've being getting approximate prices from places like JBS & Awesome GTI for prices on the transplant, inc them sourcing the engine. It seems £6,500 is an average estimate! Although not too bad in itself, even if I managed to save up and/or borrow the money to do this I don't think I could spend £6,500 on what is essentially a hobby/serious interest. Too many things need doing on the house and the missus thinks 3's a magic number (if you know what I mean!), so it's just not a practical proposition anymore to do this. I still plan on keeping the car and enjoying it but have limited myself to £2,000 'bulk spending' exc repairs. The bodywork will be nr mint (maybe fully mint!) by summer as I'm sourcing a bonnet and taking care of scuffs caused by a hit and run! Grrr! So a respray is un-necessary! General specs at the mo are - Standard VR6 Engine (Just Magnecor HT Leads) - Coilovers - Powerflex Bushes all round - Full Recaro Heated Leather Interior (Black) - Un-Marked Dash - Gun Metal Grey Refurbed Standard Speedlines I won't be track day'ing the car so Brembo's etc are probably not worth it? Dunno! Need help/inspiration on where to take the car next! Cheers! Andy

You asked me about the valvers, I asked him (on another forum) and then he posted u the numbers. Did about 6 cars in his lunch break! Apparently they're are also 446 - '306 Rallyes' left and 4387 - '306 GTI-6s' left too! :D
