  1. Bit slow at the mo, hoping to double up a cheap runabout and a van so we can start going to people. Once that happens then we're going to start advertising and pushing it a bit more. At the moment we rely on various forums for jobs, not done any actual advertising locally yet. Thinking of a flyer drop through letter boxes? I noticed your in what looks to be a Nissan Vanette? They seem to be pretty cheap yet big enough?
  2. Can I also assume an idle control valve is the same thing as Idle Stabilisation Valve?
  3. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GOLF-MK3-VR6-IDLE ... dZViewItem I assume this should suffice?
  4. Does anyone know if the ISV is the same on the Golf VR6 as the Corrado one?
  5. I love those wheels! :) I thought you had a Mini in your sig for a sec!
  6. I just done a CRX, other halfs Golf and my Corrado, dried off with the AG blade that I have had for years and a chamois.....no issues as such. Why do you say no no, as opposed to just need to be careful? Trust me, I've worked on enough cars to see the damage done by blades. I'm not talking major scratches but similar to swirl marks. A proper drying towel is all you need. It will soak up the moisture as opposed to having it scraped off, one is kinder to the paint than the other. If you want to use a blade they're only worth using on glass, not bodywork. I have to work to a paranoid level of carefullness (such a thing?!) as I work on other peoples cars, most people wouldn't see the damage we try to avoid creating. Wet a black CD and rub the blade over that a few times, unless your being really incredibly careful and slow you'll see scratches in an instant, which if you are, it would work out slower than a drying towel anyway! All my opinion of course!
  7. The reason people always use to use AG stuff is because no one else did products in bulk, theres more choice now. Meguiars, Clearkote are some of my other favs to name a few. Meg's is poplular because they have a product for pretty much everything now.
  8. Yep, I can hear a hissing. Well at least I'm pretty sure I can! :) Whats that tell me?
  9. I would if I could get it started! He said its a circular type object on the air intake?
  10. Don't suppose anyone knows the part number for the Idle Control Valve? VW cant find it, the only thing they THINK it might be costs £550 and isn't in stock!
  11. Mine started, stopped after a few weeks and then was fine til a couple of weeks ago.
  12. Yep, front wishbones (front & back), ARB bushes, rear's (mine are pretty worn). Andy did a bit of a better price as the suspensions coming off anyway. Also get to play in a MK3 16v GTI as a courtesy car for a week too! :)
  13. It's going to PSI on the 20th, I'm taking it to a local (non vw specialist but v good) garage on Friday, he seems to think its the Idle Control Valve sticking? Too much rev's, too little revs?
  14. I've just done the business, getting fit on the 20th. Koni Shocks/Springs, Powerflex Bushes all round, bump stops, top mounts, camber alignment and fitting. £892 inc VAT.
  15. It's a VR6. Got back from 1 hours drive today, driving was fine but it was idling the whole time when stopped at 250rpm! Just wen out to move it and I couldn't get it started for quite a while! It was turning over as if it wanted to start but just couldn't quite get there! Once it did start it was idling at 1,200rpm then! Grrrrr! What the hell could it be? Wouldn't a spark plug do it throughout the rev range, where as this is only at idle?
  16. Yeah but no one seems to want to sell me them! Can't get a price. Any online links for these 2?
  17. Oh, the idle control valve was cleaned when it was serviced at PSI in August. He did say a bit of oil was in or on (cant remember) one of the spark plugs. Could this be a cause? I also have cheap GSF HT leads on.
  18. This has being going on for up to 6 months now, I'll give you the brief history and what its doing. What it's doing: The car drives fine, power. economy all seems to be as was. Sometimes (say 1 out of 8 starts) it starts with a little bit of a misfire, like it's waking up in the morning and getting the phlegm out of its throat! This stops after no more than 30secs. After this stops the car then decides to idle between 1,300rpm and 1,800rpm, no lower (like I've got my foot on the accelerator a little). When it gets warmer (I reckon when the auto choke disengages?) it then idles at around 300-500rpm, just above cutting out, fluctuating a little. It usually only carries on this for between 5 & 15 mins before going back to normal. It only seems to start doing this when I start the car, mainly when cold but has done it after being used. It has started mid-driving a few times though, just not often. When: Last Sept-Oct it did the above and then stopped doing it all together until the middle of December, when it started again. Like I say, about 1 in 8 starts, say 2-3 times a week. If you understand all this, any thoughts? Cheers Andy
  19. I wouldn't normally create a new thread for a susp question but I should be ordering today and need some quick thoughts. PSI are ringing me back with prices for both, I think theres a £70-£80 difference. The 2 that they're offering are (don't know model specifics) Eibach springs and Koni Shocks or Eibach Springs & Bilstein Shocks. Obviously the Billies are cheaper, the Koni's are adjustable. I'm not going nuts on it, all my criteria is, is; 30-40mm Lower As good as or better than standard VW set up. Would the Billies cover this? What I don't want to happen is get the Bilsteins and then think "why didn't I spend another £80 on the Koni's!". Am I realistically likely to notice on a daily driver that doesn't go on a track? Cheers!
  20. I'm thinking of lamin-x lightly smoked tints?
  21. Darren at G-Werks is recommending Weitec Ultra GT's?
