How big is the physical difference between the VR6 and R32
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
hmmmm, ok, I guess the main problem here in Norway would be to make it at all legal with the engine, as they are not very easy to please (seem like the goverment place that have to do with registering cars in Norway, are very afraid of putting theyr names on modification of cars at all). I would think I would have to go to Germany and get a TÜV vertification for it, before they would sign anything.......and one would have to pay additional taxes for the step up from 2.9 to 3.2 and the additional HP......:) Are the Turboed VR6 in UK "street legal" ? (as in Registered as a VR6T?)......as that would also be a big hassle to get registered here I'm afraid...:( -

Ok, good to hear, it's only in the very unlikely (for now atleast) I should change out the VR6 engine some day....;) Most likely they won't notice it I guess......:) -
Is there much physical difference between the VR6 engine and the R32 engine?. f.ex would people without knowledge of the VR6 engine notice it? (at MOT etc)?
-
hehe, you never know......it's also available as a dual tail pipe (one on each side), but looks the same as this end...:)

Talked to someone on a German Corrado forum, and it was an option you could order extra....:) so yes you could get connolly leather....;)
-
AFAIK some Corrado seats comes with Conolly leather (finer/better than "normal" leather), anyone know if it was only some model/years, or what interior it's in, recaros or anything else?. Also any way to tell them apart from "normal" leather seats?

Is it possible to do the chain with the engine in the car?
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
hehe, well, so far I'v collected the clutch kit, chain kit, bushings for the rear axel, break equalization valve (or whatever it's called), fuel filter, different bushings for the strut, new light switch, water pump +++++ so for now I don't know if I want to spend more, just yet........will have to take it a bit step by step (as this will be a car for summer time only), due to the fact they do a he*** of a lot of salting on the roads during winter time, and won't put it thru that shit.......the Passat VR6 is more suitable for that...;) But do you think I will have to change the original cams? -

Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
hmmm, do you reckon I should change the cams as well? Already put in a huge order on parts from Germany, but if you recon I should do more things, please do tell (as it's still will be a month or two before I get the car out of the garage to give it an overhaul)...........it got about 120k km on it's clock.....(95 model) -
Is it possible to do the chain with the engine in the car?
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
I'l see if I think I'm up to the task...:)..hehe Already have the bentley so that's sorted.........:) Any idea how many hours it would take to change the chain when the engine is left in the car? (will change the clutch at the same time), roughly?. -
Is it possible to do the chain with the engine in the car?
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
hmm, ok, as I most likely will get a local guy to do the chain for me, although it would be good to have it out to clean it up and paint it. Maybe I should think about doing it myselfe, I'm used to do general maintenance meachnical work, but never realy split up the engine so not sure. we'l see...:) -
Anyone know if I can do the chain while the engine is still in the car? thnx
-
I'm thinking of buying hartmann exhaust system, and was wondering if anyone have any experience with it, when it comes to how well it fits, sound etc, and overall quality?
-
ok, thnx for the info. I'v seen some also have engraved VR6 in them, any info on what they are compared to these ?, from different cars?
-

Anyone know if I can sandblast the aluminium VR6 intake manifoil?, or if there is any other viable options to clean this one up: (Getting the "corrosion" off)? (Like to keep it stock as it is, for now atleast).

What other maintenance should I do when doing the chain?
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
Ok, thnx for the tips, will get a local guy to do it for me, so won't be to bad cost wise, so will try to do these things, was also wondering if there is any more internal engine things one should check out at the same time?. Also do one need new head gasket or only gasket for the air-intake? I might get my parts from the UK as I resides in Norway, and your right about the dollar.....:( thnx for the info...;)
