  1. I have tried that Jekel, and nothing to see.

I got loan of a friends ISV, fitted that and the car ran perfect for 2 days, so I was just away to order a new one......then on 3rd day it misbehaved again 😧

So yesterday I changed the plug leads, and at the same time I noticed a crack in my PCV valve.

I have done a temp repair to it and either it was the leads or the repair but the car has ran perfect yesterday and all day today..........let's see what the weekend holds!

  2. Spoke to guy at local Bosch centre about getting fuel pressures, injection system checked etc.

He said to change all the HT leads and prob the coil pack before anything else gets checked.

He stated to buy Genuine VW HT leads as they are far better than anything out there, i phoned VW and they are obsolete but did cost £141+ for the set!

Managed to order a Magnacor 8mm set for £103 from Demon Tweeks.

Coil pack from VW is £321+ Vat!.......they can discount it to £231+ vat!

  3. Well glad I never held my breath, even with that wire fixed I still have a problem.

Better get back under the bonnet and check to see if there is another broken wire in the loom

Tonight's VAG COM check came up with this

00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation

11-10 - Control Limit Not Reached - Intermittent

I am Honestly losing my patience with this now :(

  4. That's great news Jekel.

Great news for me as I found a broken wire (actually a previous repair by someone connection) in the MAF loom,

I have repaired that, and even though it hunted and coughed about intially after the repair! It's ran font so far this afternoon 😊

  5. Well new MAF sensor fitted and its still doing it :(

Just to clarify, when i got home and reconnected the battery, i did ECU basic setting by VAG COM and that has not stopped the fault.

I did a vag com check, cleared it and checked again and this code is coming up

    00553 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)

    29-00 - Short to Ground

I have taken a video of the idle hunting when the car was warm, i will post it later.

I take it next move would to check all the Wiring going to the MAF?

  6. Rob, I disconnect the battery while I go offshore for 3 weeks (it's also got a parasite drain I still need to find/repair), so I understand it needs to learn new settings, but it's driven daily for the 3 weeks at home and it was still doing it in my last week of driving.

  7. Well new blue temp sensor and ISV Muffler box fitted, MAF and ISV re cleaned, new spark plugs too and it still occasionally hunts up and down when it's warm and running about town.

Mate never got back to me with a shot of his MAF so looks like I might have to take the plunge and buy one.

God knows what else to try?

  8. Can get a discounted MAF from Eurocar parts for £116 just now, but waiting to try my friends one first.

I got my New blue sensor and ISV muffler box from VW today, but won't manage to fit it all till 2moro morning. I will reclean my ISV again at the same time.

Car ran perfect this morning for 20 mins and has jumped about and cut out since.

Exhaust tip is black as anything!

  9. I tried the blue one today, once I disconnect the plug the engine coughed and spluttered so it must be working.

I also did a resistance test and it worked out according to the MFA reading temp.

But I ordered a new one for peace of mind.

Haven't managed to find any cheap MAF's online yet unless I get something on EBAY from Spain.

The only mate that has a MAF I could try, his Raddo hasn't ran for 10 years, so a bit sceptical to try it.
