if your savy wiv using toosl and dnt mind a bit of graft you can rebuild it yoursel....the main culprit is the oil seals for which you can do a half service yourself...pm me if you want seal sizes

shit bally sos to hear that...mine went on the golf i just by passed it and ran it thru the summer without it.....i got lucky the golf had a recall on it so got it done for free. i stripped the dash out the rallye dnt take long and it will be easier...let me knw how it goes as the way things are going for me i just feel that after fixing everything on the g this will happen...so ill be carryin a 22mm copper bend and clips just in case

wot you guys reckon to tthe TSR bore and build kit think it comes with all i need for the engine side all i have to get is a headset from gsf then. the kit is £587and You bore your original engine to either 83.00mm for a 19000cc conversion parts supplied to the conversion. KS or Mahle pistons, KS bearings, new oil pump, new con rod bolts, engine gasket set, oil filter, cam belt and tensioner. 2000cc conversions are also supplied with a balanced crankshaft. the headgasket kit is 79 quid from gsf....but im still not gettin a clear idea of wheather i can use the 8v gti head bolts on the PG engine.....

right it could be a worn pump...so id replace that but before you do this disconnect the breather hose and see if the car is brathing heavy.....if it is then its a rebuild on the piston rings side..... im going thru the same prob i replace the charger seals twice over only to find out the oil was coming from the breather....taken her apart sure enuff rings are messed and need replacing. messed rings also mean oil burn and you dnt always see oil burn thru the exhaust....throw a bucket of water over the back of the car...youll knw if the car is burning oil as the water droplets will show up on the oil fils caking the back of the car hope this helps thats the only thing i can suggest....

Hi guys have split appart the engine on the raddo...... the events that lead to the spliting of the engine were i had rebuilt the charger twice wiv new seals only to find oil still pissing out of it. a lil bit of research and checking the engines health i found that she was breathing heavey...i mean after taking the pipe of the breather the garge would fill wiv smoke within 2 3 mins....she had a weak headgasket any way so before taking her appart comp test show 109,30,120,120 (figures are what i vagly remem) so split the engine and sure i found cylinder two the gasket was blown....anf the pistons slap about without excesive force....there is a lip on the bore id say enough to warrent a re hone to perhaps 1 or 2 thou and use bigger rings i wanted to see wot you guys have done when rebuilding your engines....... wot am i looking at as my dad is dab hand at rebuilds but i want to have all the info i can get before i approach him as he has the old skool way of thinking...as in just bigger rings etc....i dnt think he realises i want to drive it hard at times so a fix that runs fine as long a i dnt drive it like i stole it is no good to me. esp when she is in bits now the parts and numbers/prices id be after are as follows along with any sound advice...iv done odd headgasket jobs and big end bearings so not afraid of hard wok: 1, pistons....what are the original ones in terms of size ? 2, Where can i source pistons and what size would i require....83mm?? (would this take it to 1.9l) 3, Oil pump 4, conrod bolts 3, new crank pulley bolt?? 5, headbolts can 8v gti ones be used? 6, big end bearings 7, crank bearings 8, is it necessary to skim the head as i had a look it dnt look warpped...but iv been advised i should have it skimed very very slighlty... and regring valves to make the diff....(dnt knw if thats right)...i might go for a metal head gasket.... iv prob missed a few things out so thanks in advance for any input on info

am i right in understanding that i can use standard 8v gti head bolts???????...iv got my engine in bits for a rebuild so would be handy to knw istead of going to the stealers and getin ripped off..

yeah i think i will recheck them....i have a feeling that it may be piston rings too....but the cars not smokin so i might get lucky wiv just a messed up head gasket

why would the last two read 110....rings too ???

Hi all i have dun a compression check on the G 1 = 98psi 2 = 50psi 3 = 109psi 4 = 110psi ok i knw this shows a nackered gasket....what should be the average readin on a G? wot are the part numbers for the realted items needed, and are the head bolts specific to the g60....8v gti one any good? found out there is only one offending oil seal on the charger...that i managed not to push in square will take it out and replace it. should i take the co2 sensor out and give it a good clean or will it just take care of it self once i clear the IC of oil and all the ralated air pipe work gets a good clean. when i entre the second menu to check boost readings etc what is the very first readin C10? any one knw what the others are in the menu? cheers cheers

:evil: wots wrong wiv it? put fuel in a couple of times and it was fine the reading was ok.....on the day i decide to top it up till the filler nozzel goes the neddle rises half way and drops to empty when driving it managed to get half way and soon as i stop it shows empty :unsure: :blink:

hi guys got to cov today and luks like the car is drinking oil major....even after new oil seals the chargers seems to be pissin oil out i thin......and around sparkplug 4 there is oil........ now im concerned that its the rings gone causing the oil consumption....i give up doing the charger and will be sending it to darren when they open again... and under normal driving there s no sign of oil but when the revs drop the oil light flickers even with oil level topped up. any one selling a decent second hand engine....think its gonna be to expensive and long stripping it down for a rebuild...i wana enjay the damn thing for the summer...

hi all as i previously posted the charger seals had gone so loadz of oil got into the IC and into the inlet.....the car sounded like it was pinking. i have sorted the seals oit and cleaned the IC out wiv white spirit. afrter running the car today i decided to take a look under the bonnet to check all was ok no more oil leak from banjo ec.....i was reving the car to spot blue smoke and i heard the engine pick as you blip the thorttle...it only happened once....any ideas? has the oil contamonation buggered some kind of sensor??...its a g60 on a j plate....im guessin early type from the interior...... any other checks i can do ??

just wound her down a lil lower.....renewed all the charger seals....rebuilt it just left it overnite to let the sealer between outer oilseal edge and surface to set properly before i put it bak on. giona do a oil change now as i can reach the oil filter easily wiv all the stuff out of the way....what oil shall i use...thinkin of stickin in sum semi synth at 10/40 is this gonna be ok???? am i right in thinkin the oil filter is the same as a 8/16v gti???

thought id post the only pic i got so far of the G....will post more pics up soon as i can be assed to get them of my phone..... spec so far stage 4 charger G-Werks chip n pully....(68mm) supersport coil overs bulged bonnet parts wanted so feel free to pm me pas side fog clean int wivout any holes..(mines littred wiv fag burns :x ) grey parcel shelf wiv out any holes 3 slat grill and eyebrow spoiler borbet b's perhaps (9J)

when do u eva say any thing right lol......my rado back of the road stupid charger seals........got refurb the dam thing....now its a two day wait for the parts to cum so i can get crackin lol furk can i bribe ur wheels of u????? :lol: joka... hope you got the G sorted.. :wink: wel the seals arrived yessterday so will go back as the mercs a bit to much at uni lol....the girls just think im a dirty uncle hahahahaha....just need rims and leathers for the g thats all......i kinda ported the charger a lil bit more had to test the dremel out....might need to get a sns chip...
