    ABS issue

Do you mean an ABS rotor Dinkus? If so i did check these for distortion and cracks also and they appear to be fine. I didnt realise that it wasnt a good idea to run with the ABS at track days, never really felt it coming in as i was trying to progressivly brake rather than braking late and stamping on the anchors. But i understand what you mean and will try it if i ever do another trackday

Cheers guys, yeah i thought VAGCOM would be the best place to start. staurtFZR400 Yeah checked front and back sensors and all the brakes have been stripped as i destroyed a pad on the trackday and scored a disc, thats the only reason im replacing them. New Black diamond discs arrived today just waiting on Goodridge hoses and i can put the whole lot back together 8)
  3. The links go to the top of the wishbone dude! Here are a couple of crappy pics as my C is in bits at the moment!

    ABS issue

I have a 95 VR6 which has been trouble free untill the other week, when i did a trackday at my local circuit (Knockhill). Now the breaks did take a fair pounding and they were smoking a bit when i first came off the track  Returned home later and everything was ok. However the next day when i turned the car on the abs light would not go out as it usually would once the car was running. Was hoping someone would have a rough idea of what might be wrong? I have stripped all the breaks Discs, pads, callipers, carriers and hoses for an overhaul over the past couple of days, i checked the abs sensors and rotors and they are all intact and in the right positions, gave the sensors a good clean as there was a fair bit of brake dust. Now im just waiting to get the new discs to fit it all back together, but im wondering if i will need to change a sensor. Could a fault occur on a sensor purely due to high temperature or does this sound like something else? Will try and get the car onto VAGCOM once the brakes are rebuilt to see if there are any fault codes, ive got my MOT due on the 20th so need to get this sorted! Any ideas?? :?
  5. Interesting opinions from you all, i knew someone would mention driving style and i totally agree as everones is a bit different. Just wanted this sort of info from people who had tried it all before just so i know the right starting point. Can fiddle with it all once i get the arb and my coillies on. Cheers once again Ewan
  6. Ok guys thanks for all the help, apreciate it! 8)
  7. Just bought new Black diamond discs for the rear at inters. If you were to machine 6mm off them what would the final offset then be? et 9?
  8. Ok nice one guys. Where did you get the Nuespeed one from and roughly how much should i expect to pay for one?
  9. I think so mate, not 100% as i havnt done them on mine yet but im 95% sure as i have heard plenty people on here that have done it. Did it on my MK2 and that was a headache because of the holes it left but im sure the rado ones are just stuck on!
  10. Cheers Neil. Just saw your post about machining the rear discs. Is it safe enough to do this? and have you noticed any difference?
  11. Did you just keep with the standard front arb steve?
  12. Is it different calipers aswell as bigger discs for the 288's
  13. On the look out for a good set of anti roll bars and wondered what you guys are running and how you feel about them? Had thought about Eibach ones but i know Weitech and Neuspeed do them also. Looking to just stiffen things up nicely but dont wont to go too wild. Any recommendations?
  14. What tyres are you running on the back with your 9's mate? any pics would help me alot. Just been out with a measuring tape
  15. Do you think you would have been better with a 205/45 on the back instead of the 215/40. Do you have any pics of how it looks from the back ie arch clearance, tyre stretch?
  16. Not sure about how to get the VW decal off, but the rubbing strips are stuck on with adhesive tape. Its messy crap and never comes off in one peice, would try a hair dryer before taking a heat gun to it as that might lift the paint off your door. If you are going to do it, best thing to do is take your time and be patient, its one of those annoyingly boring tasks that will probably take ages to do but if you rush it you will either scratch the paint or worse still lift it off the door.
  17. Common guys someone must be able to shed some light on this. Even if someone is running rims with around a 20mm offset can you tell me the wdth of wheel and what tyre size you are using? Please
  18. NICE! these turned out really well, looks like i not the only one with speedies that need a refurb :)
  19. Ive got a set of BBS split rims that came off my old 328 BMW and i fancy trying to get them on my rado. I know im going to need to get hub adaptors and have spoken to performance alloys where i got my last set of Porche ones. They say the thinnest set i can get ar 20mm. Now considering the Wheels are et 41, with the adaptors this will make the offset et21. The wheels are 7 1/2 front and 8 1/2 rear and i know the standard VR6 et is 43. Just wanted some opinions as to whether you lot think it will be too much work to make them fit or if they will stick out a mile. I know a few people are running 9s at the back with 20mm offsets and just wondered how they got on with them? I realise that the arches will probably need to be rolled and i will need a bit of a stretch on the tyres but i would love to see them on the car, just dont want to waste alot of money if its not worth it! Could do with your thoughts and ideas please?
  20. My Girlfriend used to have a toad in her old car and it seemed like a pretty good system, never really had any bother with it. Can anyone recomend any other brands they have used and found to be reliable and good value for money?
  21. I had thought about that aswell, as a last resort. I had the C through at Bedrock veedubs in Motherwell and John Berry had said that the cliffords were crap and the best thing i could do was get rid of it. Better raid the piggybank and see what its gonna cost
  22. Mr Beige just had a look at the pcb and it looks ok. Cheers vwdeviant will give them a call, thanks alot
  23. Have to say my C does the same, just finished fitting my Alpine stereo at the weekend. The yellow wire is labelled to say take a direct feed from battery or fuse board. So i ran i wire to the battery and connected them, now mine wont switch off with the ignition, might try swaping mine round aswell.
  24. Need some pointers if anybody has an idea what might be wrong with my alarm, So i will try and describe what it has been doing! Bought my 95 Corrado VR6 about 2 months ago, the car already had a Clifford concept 300 alarm installed. When i went to buy the car the alarm appeared to be working perfectly normal i.e. press the lock button on the fob and the central locking would activate and the alarm would set. And likewise when you unlocked it everything was fine. Now i noticed after a couple of days of owning the car when i went to unlock the car sometimes the fob would not work, i.e. not unlock car and not disable alarm, so i would have to unlock the door with the key and then as soon as i opened the door the alarm would activate, only then would the fob work to switch the alarm off. Now it has been doing this randomly ever since then, sometimes the fob works perfectly for a whole day or days then suddenly when i go to unlock it the next day or sometimes even only 20 mins later it wont work ( quite embarrasing when i have t set my own alarm off in a petrol station to get into my own bloody car ) :? Last weekend when leaving my girlfriends i had to do the same thing when getting into the car, unlock door with key enter car then alarm activated, however this time and once again since then the alarm would not switch off. I had to disconnect the car battery then connect it back on and only then did the fob work to switch the alarm off. Im going to replace the battery in the fob and will see if this clears up the problem but im not so sure that it is that, as surely if it was the battery in the fob it wouldnt make any difference if i had disconnected the car battery or not. It appeared that the alarm maybe reset itself when the bat was disconnected and that was maybe how it would disarm after that. Also when washing the car or when there is heavy rain the alarm activates ( not funny at 04.00am) but think this might be the sensors being mounted too close to the windscreen. Does anyone know of a Clifford dealer in East central Scotland that i could try as its all really beginning to piss me off :( What a rant! And im normally a happy person lol!
