On topic... Where should I start and look? Why do they occassionally work? Anyone suffered this amusing problem? Is it an easy fix? Need to do something before I get caught out :D Thanks Martin

When one of my front bearings failed I had an almighty squeal... Was doing 110 though :D
-
Surely the fliuds would p***? The oil cap would've suggested that? Never had a gasket go on a car but thats what happened on my YZ250 moto x bike :?:
-
Why not just buy a VR? :D
-
I've asked on US forum mate and apparently as standard they don't have relays :?: So your Dad may be right :D Good luck!
-
I get the daily comments of "sell it" :D I choose to ignore :D My bro owns a Scoob Import STI, 10 a penny... Rather have my VR6, rare :D
-
Good luck mate. Read your thread. My VR6 has been a pain in the arse for a year, cost me far more than I would want to spend... But I would'nt swap it :) Though my bird would!

Dunno mate, I think they are probably mean't to be fixed. They were loose in mine, but I only remember dealing with them after rad change. The lights on my VR aren't that hot, but apparently there is nothing stopping you from upratting bulbs with no other mods. The joy of C eh! Should've kept my VTS

They are in the gap between light and battery on my VR.
-
Like I said though... When I took mine for MOT it needed "disco" sorting, the auto lec removed them, no ill effect, £25. Hope this helps mate.

Mine were rattling about. However, I think initially they may have been fixed, as I only noticed them when I had my rad replaced when I blew the thing up! They are box like things with a series of wires fitting in, not very well at that! Or thats how they were on my VR.
-
Those relay's you speak of went in my VR6 recently. I took it to my local auto electrician and he removed them and wired straight in as they "served no real purpose". When mine failed I had a "disco effect", one fog on, indicator flashing continually no main beam etc! But no smoke or smell of burning.

The mobile in question :) Love it and hate it :D

Cheers  It's been on a computer and shown no faults across the sensors. I believe this ISV thing is potentially at fault. So, on Thurs, me, myself and I is gonna have a go. :D I'd be grateful of decent description of exactly what and where ISV is and where this pot like thing is and what to do with it  NICE ONE :D

Cheers mate much appreciated! :) I'll have a go myself to avoid being killed by partner who hates the amount of coin going on the beast! :D

Sounds good to me! :D Just sick of dealing with it. A yank forum said disconnect it, the idle runs higher but should prevent prob... sounds a little harsh  Also perhaps a "Engine Speedo Sensor", ever heard of that?
-
Nice one, is this ISV something I can do or is it a hard to find fiddly task? Scale out of 10! :D

I've had a look through all your archieve stuff re this problem, but just want to ask what is the most common cause of this problem. The car has an irratic idle, but it tends to cut out when coming to lights and junctions etc. The car has been in and out of garages with this problem but to no avail, and one is a VW specialist! I've recently had the throttlebody removed and cleaned, it didn't need replacing and the MAF bit has also been cleaned thoroughly. I'm no mechanic, just want to point these muppets in the right(ish) direction! What next! Please help :? Oh yeah, the car is a 1995 VR6, super chipped running a full S/S zorst.
