After replacing my dash and changing the heater matrix, I found this stuck to my door car at home, there was some sticky tape on the door card inside and it must have got stuck to it whilst it being in the car on the back seat. I had a feeling its somewhere near the heater matrix or the fan housing? I just hope its the fan as my undertrays are not yet fitted but hope I dont have to remove the dash again! Cheers Rams

Hi all What do people use when they have a decat pipe and running obd2? I want to replace my lamba sensor as I used the existing one which was from its previous obd1 setup. I've seen lambas sold with cat and without cat?? When I reset the MAF on the stick, the MPG shows around the 30's, when I first start the car and drive away, without reseting the maf, the MPG is around 11, 14 17 etc. Reset the maf as it reads around the 30's and settles. I did discover a leaking hose going to the blue fuel sensor plug. I just snipped the hose end off that was split and reconnected it. That solved the rough running and back firing. I heard the leak and sorted that. I do need to replace it as the hose is about 1 cm shorter. Anyone know the part number? Could I get this part from Ford along with the other valve as whilst im in that area of the car, would like to do a small refurb. Also, when testing with vag com , do I need to get the car hot to check the maba sensor. It did show a fault but the car was just started when testing it. Cheers Rams

Hi, It depends on your furture purchaser, if they are a Corrado nut and wants an original car, he/she may be put off. Its not like the colours are very different so it probably wont matter and just go with what you think. Have you really tried everything to get your origianl paintwork looking good?

Hi all I cant seem to work out how the fuse board clips work. The 2 white clips. I have lots of wires up behind it from the OBD2 install but there is room for it to sit level but I seem to be doing it wrong as its dropping down a bit. Any tips would be much appreciated. Regards Rams

After having a leaking joint sorted on the exhaust, my rear beam and exhaust clamp were touching / rubbing so I investd in the Mikalor stainless exhaust clamps. Now the knocking has gone and they give a much better seal due to the shape. They also release out so you can fit them with out removing the exhaust. I recommend them. About £30 delivered from Deemon Tweeks. Also, removed the front shock plates and tightened the bolt on the top and its now feels how it should. I need to now refurb my rear beam and rear brakes, I havent touched the rear except for the braided rear hoses. I will try and find a spare and have it stripped and powder coated and figure out what brakes I want on the back. This area of the car still looks old and crusty unlike the front which is all nice and new / powder coated. I am also having the front door cards and steering wheel re trimmed. I am doing a leather and alcantara mix. I want to keep the OEM steering wheel but just having the seem join moved slightly further up to complement my idea with the trim. It will also make the steering wheel a bit more chunky. Finally, bought a a cable off ebay for diagnostic and down loaded the ross tec software. Its picked up on my abs, I need to replace a sensor and will do all of that on the refurb but also, Oxygen senor came up, 00525 G39 no signal. This could be because the car wasnt warmed up or its because I was still running an OBD1 Lamba sesnor but with OBD2 setup? I am sure when we plugged the car in the fault code didnt come up so not sure if I need an obd2 Lamba? I will warm the car up first and double check if the fault code is still there? I did unclip the harness in the engine bay and cleaned the connection to start with.

I did the oil change on the gearbox 6 months ago, drained and re filled with VW gear oil specific to the car. I do have movement once 1st gear is selected, quite a bit of forward travel that does noting. It is annoying me and sounds like a ford siera rwd, those gear sticks vibrate for England! Its a bummer to have to drop the gearbox! Anyone since fixed this issue as it was posted a while back?

I've just mentioned this question on my thread, I also have a 95 Storm. Exactly the same faults as above and I just want to know how to fix it. I also one evening replaced all engine mounts and did all the bushes and the vibration was still there. How have others got on with this now?

small update.... Replaced the leads and found a small air leak to a hose, hose end had split. It's feeling 100 percent again. Quite like the red leads now. I didnt at first! The front door cards are still off as they are be treated to a retrim in leather along with the speaker pods. Bough some of the new water proof foam stuff for the door liner and need to try and cut them to size and attach. Also, thanks to John Croozin, he has kindly lent me his steering wheel so I can have my oem one retrimmed. Have a nice idea to bring the alcantara into the car a bit more and doing a split on the steering wheel - leather/alcantara. After these bits are done, the parcel shelf goes in and rear door cards so it just leaves the seats to do. Think I have sourced some black leather recaro seats, will know for definate by next week. These will then need to be trimmed to match everything else. I am hopefully doing a swap for my front seats and cash but wondered what my leather front seats might be worth? They are in very good condition and heated. Ordered some Maklor exhaust clamps to avoid the current clamp touching the rear axel. They should arrive today. Finally, gave her an oil change at my friends garage Chubby and drained out the coolant and replaced with new. Since the smaller spacers are on the rear, it feels nice and connected.A friend recently came out with me and commented on how well the thing stuck to the road. Really did miss driving the car for the couple of months it was off the road. There is one thing I cant work out, if driving away in first gear, the gear stick vibrates and its annoying me a bit. Its the noise it makes from the vibration. Could this be alignement of the gear selector or maybe drive shafts or something?

Its not worth the risk going for an after market filter, remember to wipe some oil over the filter rubber before fitting

Congrats! Its one of those days to remember

I would be keen for a switch, smart thinking chaps I haven't yet protected my earth wire on my switch, browsing around tonight brought this to my attention again. Question, if I buy a new chinese switch, do I still need to carry out the inline fuse protection to the switch wires? I currently run a uprated headlight loom so the dim dip is disconnected. Eitherway, I want to now get the switch protected, especially with my nice new leather dash. lol

Thanks chaps, one bonus is that they are labelled 1 - 6, just makes life easier. I will get them fitted. Rams

Hi all I just picked up a set from TPS as I havent replaced my leads since Ive owned the car and just wanted to replace as a service item. The ones they gave me were red and numbered and a black king lead. I called him up to double check as I though the VW ones were black as are my existing WV leads. Before I fit them, just wanted to ask if thats correct? Part number is 357998031 Regards Rams

Feeling happier now with the paint job? You did say that you were going to re do it all. Keep up the good work

Hi, couldnt post pics on PM message so here you go mate

Hi guys, The dash is done, its wrapped up in a complete douvet set so my cat wont think its a nice scratching post. The pics are just taken from the trimmer with a phone but it gives you the idea. I will take some decent pics once its all in and cleanned up. The trimmer said he loves a challenge and enjoyed doing my sun visors and ash tray etc but he said he will never do a Corrado dash again. It was a pig of a job as I wanted it done a certain way to hide the seam near the glove box which has been achieved in my opinion. Re the French James - I am just negociating a price for an old barn in France at the moment and have France on the brain! LOL Mike, good to hear from you mate. My car is in pieces again! I get these great ideas and then regret not being able to drive the car for ages, especially when the sun is out. I am waiting for John Croozing to fully remove the AC, I have been helping out when hes doing work on the car and hes been great and giving me some small items that are always nice to have. So far, my new matrix is in, the dash wires need that horrid foam thats just falling to dust in my hands removed and wrapped in loom tape, tidy wires as a bulk of wires comes over the fan arm so I want it all to be neater when re installed. Theres just the front end to come off Jogns VR so we can get to the parts, most of he other stuff I have loosened or is ready to come away. If it takes much longer then I will just re instate my car with the new dash and do the air con when the engine is removed for engine bay painting and the new lump. Then perhaps hard lines could be used and a smarter install overall.

Cheers James. I had my dash trimmed and so far there are some black round inserts that try and finish the top surface off but are a little to big. They can just lift out as the trimmer said he wasn't convinced either. I will try and get some pictures to compare. Have you got a picture of that bit on your dash? Before you saw the hole inside and it always looked unfinished so wondering if what you had done did the trick?
-
Hi there, can I ask what you did with the bit of trim on the dash with the small air / vent holes? The part thats near the screen... Did you trim over that bit or leave it? Cheers Rams

Sounds to me like the chain guide chattering, once under more load teh chain will be under more tension hence the noise reducing. You can also replace this with the mk4 upgrade.

seats look in fantasic condition, good find
-
This is one of those jobs that you think are straight forward and when you attempt them you later regret it. You need glass suckers, glue, primer, knife. When the screen is free and out, clean surface, prime, glue, buy replacement top centre rubber, stll available at a few pounds from vw. I would just get a pro in to do it, be prepared if theres any surface rust around the A pillars that you could make good. Or just call your insurance company and pay the excess for a a new screen?

Congrats on the purchase!
