  2. p.s im hoping to check the water pump tonight, its the only thing i havnt done so far.
  3. ah thats good to hear, someone who had a very similar problem! how much did it end up costing you for the head gasket replacement etc?
  4. well i took the car to a garage and they changed the thermostat and it still boils up so the thing is now just pissing me off. anything else it could be? i may just have to scrap the thing and break it for parts if this carries on any longer :(
  5. i cant seem to find that thermostat on awesome gti could anybody link me?
  6. wooo finally i think i might be getting some answers! cheers guys! ill get on that tomorrow. ill look into that one from awesome GTI too, because i will be modding the engine up more eventually. :D
  7. where is the thermostat on the car?
  8. the top hoses get very hard and hot, and the bottom ones remain loose and cold :(
  9. cheers for all the help! g60 dave yes i have both the plugs plugged in, ive even changed the plastic bit they sit in! But youre right, it does look exactly like that plug. is there anywhere i can download a haynes manual or something similar in PDF format or anything? cant find one in any of my local shops!
  10. not sure about the MFA's outside temp, will have to check that later! wouldnt be causing the problem then you dont think?
  11. hi there some of you may have read my other posts about this problem, but ill explain it again quickly anyway. my car starts and runs perfectly until it heats up and i get steam erupting from the header tank and the car overheats. i know this sounds like the head gasket but whilst having a poke around today i found a couple of unconnected/dodgy wires that could possibly be causing the problem? the first is what looks to me like some sort of sensor that is completely unplugged and is on the drivers side of the car, by the induction. could this be unplugged from my water pump? http://i3.tinypic.com/vzypew.jpg The second is a wire in front of the head that seems to be warped/exposed: http://i3.tinypic.com/vzzati.jpg The third is right next to the warped wire and is again unplugged: http://i3.tinypic.com/vzzc4h.jpg any ideas guys? all help much appreciated, the car is sitting on the drive doing nothing
  12. anybody know of anywhere i can get it done in the bucks area??
  13. yeah its a g60. hmmm that is a lot but its what i expected i suppose!
  14. like the title says really, need to know a good place to get my head gasket changed around the bucks area and how much it should cost? thanks!
  15. cheers henny ill try that tomorrow! its a g60 not a VR so i will check the water pump, only problem is i dont know where that is either! if it does all go against me and turn out to be the head gasket how much do you reckon thatd set me back?
  16. the water temp shows normal (about half way) but the oil temp just keeps going up and up, had it up to 140 before i cut the engine. i hope to hell its not the head gasket! im skint! looks that way though doesnt it  is there a way i can get rid of any airlocks to check its defo not that? also where is the thermostat situated on a rado? taa!
  17. yeah, replaced it for a blue one yesterday, still doing it!
  18. my car started erupting steam from the header tank a few weeks ago and i have been trying to fix it ever since. so far i have replaced the gasket on the side of the head, the radiator and the gasket on the front of the head, but its still doing it! i was wondering if maybe i have an air lock in the system somewhere? if i do how do i get rid of this? ie is there a bleed valve somewhere? i cant find one! also i cant seem to find my thermostat (im a very new rado owner) so could someone let me know where that is? a diagram would be fantastic if possible 8) cheers people

    leather

hi there i want to get my C interior leathered. can anybody reccomend anyone to do the work in the london/oxford/reading area? thanks!
  20. i had a split charger oil feed line on my G60. Drove it for about 10miles like that (definitely not at 3k!!) before realising and it did no harm, so dont panic but obviously check it out! Mine had split where it meets the charger though, so i think there was still a small supply of oil to it. bloody engine bay got covered in crap though!
  21. could also be your clutch. i had the same problem on a golf gti whereby when you got to 80mph the car would feel like it was coughing. changed the clutch and problem solved!
  22. right this is annoying me now so i want to sort it once and for all! my radiator has gone, but i cant seem to actually get another one. I bought one from ebay but it turned out it was actually from a 2.0 16v (if anybody needs that rad let me know, £30, good condition). I basically just need to know what rad my car actually takes. My local parts depot said it could be one of two (one thats the same as the vr6 one and a different one) but i have no idea how to find out, and its really getting on my nerves. its a 1991 Corrado G60 what do i do? :(
  23. now i have what looks like a radiator failure. do the 8v gti rads fit or is that wishful thinking on my part? if not where can i get a new rad? thanks

    air lock?

as some of you may have seen, i was having problems with steam coming from the side of the head of my g60. i changed the coolant flange and that seems to have stopped the steam (cheers steveo29!) but i now have what i think is an air lock in the system somewhere from when i changed the pipe. upper pipes from the radiator are hot, and the lower one is still stone cold, and the fan isnt kicking in even though the oil temperature is at 120 degrees. it was kicking in previously to me changing the coolant flange, hence me thinking its an air lock. what would the easiest way to get rid of this be? thanks a lot 8)
  25. right well i had a look at the coolant flange like you said, and that is where it seems to be steaming from/releasing water. the flange looks fucked too, as if its covered in limescale, so im guna go and get one from my local parts supplier and hopefully all will be well :D
