  3. Are they the same thing? compatible? etc... Thanks!

    (PAS) FLUID

Yeah i have a red top, but i was sure mine needed green fluid being a 1990 16v. Also the red cap doesnt say ATF on it... I need to do mine soon cos my pump is knackered, What is the definitive way of checking what fluid i need? I thought all at this time needed the green fluid?
  5. So it was your pump that was dead?
  6. Last night my PAS decided to not work. I pulled the belt off the, and found the pulley that sits on the outside of the water pump a little stiff... So this was removed, checked, reseated, seemed fine. Drove car to MOT fine, got nearly home, no PAS again *frown* pump is making no noise, rack is not leaking, none of the pipes are leaking was fine for 20 mins yesterday, then packed up, checked it over but couldnt see anything and checked all the pulleys. Then when going over a load of bumps it came back. Then died again as i was hooning up to a tight chicane *surprised* I'm thinking maybe the valves in the rack are sticking? Also the pas fluid looked suspiciously like ATF fluid which VW's do NOT like. Could this be an issue? I though that generally killed the pumps. A pump can't be intermittent, right? If it's turning, it's pumping unless its dead, but not gonna come and go? Thanks for any help Seb
  7. From my understanding of the Quaife diffs, what you described is why they are not much good for rallying - when one wheel has no grip at all, they funcion like an open differential - not a true LSD. So i'd guess it's still fine.
  8. Some cams do need running in - but it's more to do with work hardening the metal in the correct fashion, rather than letting them wear to the followers. Yours should be good to go :)
  9. Big ends sound quite different from tappets.. Most vr6 noises i hear that sound like tappets are infact injectors ticking, which is perfectly normal. I wouldnt have a clue what i'd expect a garage to charge for doing ends, but i wouldnt trust most garages to work on a vr6. I'd diy, or take it somewhere like AW tracksport, who will know what they're doing, and do it well - not just bolt in new shells and call it a day.

    downpipe options

I have a solid front mount, others are on order. So does the raceland one fit a rhd 16v then? Are there any uprated downpipes available as another option? I had a mk2 16v with two boxes and a non silenced downpipe, was fine noise wise.

    downpipe options

Hi All, I just bought myself a bargain Corrado 1.8 16v, which has a few issues. The main problem now is the downpipe i blowing badly - it is spliting badly atthe back of the downpipe silencer. As faras replacement options - i don't fancy paying £100 odd for a stock part (i think that what i was quoted) - and i dont really need that extra silencer. I remember mk2 golf 8v downpipes fit, and have no silencer, but have a smaller exit bore, so that's not much good. Are there any replacement downpipes that lose the silencer, and retain the proper bore? Or should i just go for a 4 branch? The engine is stock at the moment, but it won't remain that way - i feel stanadalone management and throttle bodies or a custom inlet manfold brewing... Is the tsr 4 branch the only real option? Mnay secondhand ones about? I've seen the tuningleader/raceland ones about - but heard the wont fit any RHD cars... Thanks for your help :)
