i think the rocker cover gasket may well have gone ! oil build up at the rear of the block and the gasket area on the rocker cover looks very oily!! not sure though thanks for your help guys

ran the car for approximately 3 hours! i understand that overfilling will put stresses on the engines thus finding weakest point to escape which could be the h/g im worried more than anyhting because the car 'seems' too be overheating and i have no fan also i dont know if i mentioned this but the h.g was changed in nov/dec o4 so not really that long ago!

Hi all what tempreature does the 1.8 16v run at usaully mines overheating soemtimes going too 110 degrees in traffic if i take her down the dual carrige way she will sit at 80 degrees the fan doesnt work either any ideas thankyou

i overfiled the car with oil ........ yeh i know TW%T and plumes of smoke occured then but after a short while 5/10mins driving after it kicked out soo much smoke it just slowly stopped i then went and drained out any excess oil and it hasnt done it since im already regretting buying this car !!! lol

Hi all bought a rado its a 1991 1.8 16v in aubergene (lc3u) love the car it makes me feel so special while driving it so low down and sports car like lol..... ill shut up now. the cars gear box and running gear etc... are all spot on body work needs work some major work but for the money i paid i aint moaning! engines a bit hit and miss! the car overheats when in traffic the fan doesnt work :oops: :roll: anyone know of a bodyshop in the mids area a good un i am considering having a full bare metal respray needs the arches sorten there pretty rusty!

Hi 1.8 16v how can you tell if your h/g's gone?? car uses no water no mayo in oil filler cap or oil in water idles a bit hit nd miss nothing major it had its h/g done late in 04 is it common for them too go?? burns a bit of oil. anyhelp appreciated

I have narrowed it down to the VDU, i think that the circuit has broken as i ahve changed the sender unit, the expansion tank, electricaly tested the sender and had the whole VDU out and i belive that its that. It does not overheat and the fan and cooling system is in order. In addition, the temperature guage does not work and think this has something to do with VDU circuit board. But if you are genuinely interested i am sure we can come to some sort of arrangment. just got this off of him what do you think does it sound genuine!?!

Hi ive found a 2.0 16v whitch has a fault with it the bloke selling it says this ''The only problem that the car has is the water light on the dashboard flashes every now and again. The car does not over heat and the sender unit has been changed and tested.'' can someone tell me is this common what is likely too be wrong with the car ?? help a newbie please!! if this is common and been asked before maybe someone can point me too the thread? thankyou :)
