The only Corrado theme for that weekend was that we all turned up in Corrados. :) Was too ****ed to remember much but I do remember going into a chinese in Old Christchurch Road, wasn't the Mandarin as mates family own that, and the waitresses said something in Cantonese to each other. Guy looked annoyed and called over the manager and then in one of the most surreal moments of my life Guy launched into a full on, full throttle verbal assault on the manager in fluent Cantonese!!!!! Turns out the waitresses were be muttering things like "These filthy English fat pigs want a table". The manager was mortified and the waitresses jaws hit the floor. Then the penny dropped... Of course - he'd been in Hong Kong much of his life and was fluent in the language. Their faces when they realised they'd been rumbled. Man that was a moment, a proper priceless moment. One to cherish! PS. Alex Posegill... always in sweat pants and always fiddling with his bollocks. I'll dig through my old photos as if there is a photo of the guys there's bound to be one of him fiddling with his nuts.

Yes that's the car. I think the original thread was on the old Yahoo group. Not everyone either has the skill or the deep pockets to pay others and it wasn't so much that the workmanship was so poor but more the whole situation in which everyone was introduced to it. I think it was at the first Inters at Bruntingthorpe. So that's 2002-4? Something like that. It's a long time ago and you don't always recall accurately but I remember this guy coming over to the CCGB parking area and before even saying hello just started ripping into everyones cars saying how awful they all looked, the style was old and staid etc. I mean really ripping in too. Not the greatest way to win friends and the ultimate response was inevitable given that introduction. To this day I've no idea whether the guy was a comic genius, a wind up merchant, had issues or what, but he then showed us his self proclaimed "Best Corrado in the world". It was weird. There was no animosity and in fact the whole exchange was light hearted but he then showed us his car which became known as the "Tippex Corrado". It looked like it had survived a crash and been stuck back together with glue and tape. Nothing was straight and of course those wipers hand painted with emulsion. Pack mentality took over and given his abuse to us he got murdered. Feel a little bit uncomfortable about that 10+ years later as the guy genuinely looked crest fallen but he didn't do himself any favours. Was an odd situation and had he not trashed every single one of our cars perhaps it would have been a non-event but as it was the "Tippex Corrado" was born. :)

Even a late reg Storm should qualify for Frank Pickles classic. http://www.frankpickles.co.uk/ I use him for my Caterham £146 fully comp. Everyone else wanted £450-800.

Yes John did quite a job on that I understand. Under side took quite a beating. The VW Motorsport VSR I bought originally from Glenn. I had it polished and replaced my Schrick VGI with it. I don't like the Schrick - such an ugly piece of kit and looks "wrong" in a Corrado engine bay. When I decided to sell the VR6 I removed all the aftermarket parts and Guy H had the VSR for his supercharged Storm giving me his standard inlet manifold from his Storm. I think the VWM VSR then found it's way back to Glenn for his Nothelle which then came to John. Dom L got my 268 Schricks Andy B the Milltek sports cat and back box I've just seen some recent photos of my old Corrado. Tugs at the heart strings I can tell you but looks like you've all done a good job of keeping him in shape. He was always a him - never a her btw. No woman I know made that kind of noise from her rear end. ;) Oh and Greg Dawson's missus... Everything you heard is only half the story! :D

Out of curiosity was searching for my old Corrado that I sold to "jazzdevil" and saw this thread. God I miss that car. :) Yep still around and still shed a slight tear when I see a Corrado on the road. Andy B still around and has a cool old Karmann Gypsy camper. Guy I only really see through facebook is still tinkering with his R32. John M works at the same place as me but I daren't speak to him that often because otherwise we lose an hour chatting about Corrados. We are as bad as each other in that respect ;) Me I've gone down the Caterham route and have recently bought an ex-championship winning car for track days and maybe the odd hill climb next year. So who owns my, Glenn's, Guys, John's old polished VW Motorsport VSR? :D

Hi all, Long time I've been away from here and I know it's not a Corrado but might be someone on here who can help or point me in the right direction. I have been offered a sound 93 Vento 1.8 GLX for nothing. It was on the rally Brooksey and I did in seperate teams this year via Stelvio, Lake Como, Cortina, Imola, Monza, Nurburgring and Spa and drove fine from Scotland to Rimini in Italy. http://www.scallyrally.co.uk/ if anyone is interested for next year. Now Ventos took a VR6 engine so I'm wondering what's going to be involved in an engine swap. I'm thinking out aloud so its possible its not financially viable as you can buy a decent VR6 Vento for £1500. Any Vento experts out there? Cheers Kieron

However much you hate parts of the Corrado you'll always hate having sold it more. :( sniff, sniff, I miss my C.

Ha! Can't believe its taken so long to see this! :lol: For what its worth the CLK 320 in a straight line leaves the VR6 for dust in every department. Standing start or on a motorway the VR6 will be left with nothing to see other than the rear of the Merc. Around the twisties though it's a completely different story. The VR6 would be sniffing up the bum of the CLK. The VR6 can brake way later and carry more speed through a corner. Once out the corner and on to a straight the VR6 would be left behind again assuming the CLK driver hasn't pulled over to change his pants after going through the corner! Incidentally anyone thinking of getting a CLK320 - don't! £1200 each service so far too. Merc build quality is awful and thats not just about perception and expecting such a high standard but I drove a MK4 Golf the other day and its put together better than a W208 CLK.

Hi Andy, yeah me too but too many toys and not enough space. That I hadn't driven the VR6 since I bought the Merc a year ago says something too. It is staying local and has been bought by a friend of Autotechnik so you should still see it around the Marchwood/Southampton area with its original number plate N919 BRJ back on. sob.... Still time for someone else to enjoy it.

Thanks. I replaced it last year with a Merc CLK320 and the VR6 has gone to a very good home. Don't think I could have found a better home for it! A family of VW nuts! :D

Yep standard. 268s, VSR, Milltek back box and sports cat, induction kit all gone. Car is completely stock now bar Sach sporting suspension and polished t/b. Feels so slow now minus 40bhp - stock VR6s are pathetic! :D :wink: Ran the VAG-COM and no problems. Cheers Kevin your scenario sounds exactly the same as mine. I appreciate your input. Potential buyer sounds a keen enthusiast and very pleased it was stock so it'll be nice if he buys it as I really get the feeling he'll look after it.

True and I hear you but would be interested to know what people had to spend to fix their similar problem as it would give me an idea of how much I'd be prepared to knock off the price. I'm thinking £500 off the price is more than generous.

Have finally got the inelt manifold back on the VR6 and its up and running though its idling like a bastard. Car went to Autotechnik for a service and it seemed ok there but over the last couple of days has got a little worse and stalling at junctions etc. Starts up again ok no problem though. Car also feels very slow to me though a Golf VR6 owner said it seemed ok to him just maybe a little flat below 2000rpm. Not sure whether I've got used to more power from the CLK or the VR6 is down on power. Still managed to scare the Golf owner going round some twisty country lanes but then I guess thats because Golf VR6s don't do corners! :twisted: Now I know the sort of problems it might be ie. leaking vaccum hose, ISV etc. etc. but what sort of cost are we talking to fix if sent to a specialist? Reason being I'm selling the VR6 and whilst over at the garage for the service a guy wants to buy it. Now I'll either fix the problem or knock it off the price and let him fix it. Any ideas much appreciated.

Del!!! What are you doing?! ;) Put it back to stock rolling on the Speedlines and keep it. I've been meaning to sell my VR6 for almost a year but I've still got it though its on the Speedlines, stock inlet manifold, airbox, stock exhaust/cat etc. If it does have to go make sure you've got the most fantastic photo of it to keep because you won't get another one like it and you'll want to remember it in years to come. Yeah thats the babies I'm getting for my Merc. They do look good! I'll admit these ones for the Corrado are no where near as nice but still might make a good addition.
