  1. Yeah but I should qualify that really because although a lot was spent on parts and engine bolt on bits etc. very little was needed to keep the car running. If you ignore such things as servicing, tyres and oil etc. which all cars will need the VR6 hasn't actually cost very much at all to run in the 6 years I've owned it. I could of saved a fair bit if I'd of known what I wanted to do in the beginning but when you start modding rational reason disappears very quickly. :-P You can also save a lot of money by being a member of the Corrado Club and places like this forum where new people can hear the experiences of people who have been there before. :D In total the VR6 cost me a lot to buy and tweak but most of that was the initial purchase of £17K 6 years ago. £17K for a second hand VR6.... Seems like a lifetime ago!
  2. Spot on. The G60 and VR6 are very different beasts they just happen to look the same. I've owned and driven both but ulitimately other peoples opinions count for nothing until you've driven them. The G60 is a nutters car the VR6 as quick but more refined. Its like comparing Sex Pistol - The Great Rock n Roll Swindle (G60) with Primal Scream - XTRMNTR (VR6) IMHO.
  3. VR6 with RAM Air installed. Not only does it look like Micheal J but also like Larry Blackmon (right of photo) from Cameo. 1986 "Word Up!" for the young ones out there...
  4. err that'll be quite a lot of the time for most VR6 drivers!
  5. Unless you use a heatshield to keep at least some engine heat away I'd say none of them. Also bear in mind that the biggest change you'll notice will not be power but noise and a LOT of it. I've made small children fall off their bikes with mine! The RAM Air filter looks ridiculous IMHO, like a big Victoria sponge in your engine bay. and the BMC doesn't fit very well in Corrados. Its ok in Golfs though. I've a Turn2 CAI that has been sat around boxed for 2 years waiting to go on instead of the Eurosport/ITG I have currently installed. Eurosport actually started copying Turn2, or it could be vice-versa, and theirs now drops down through the hole where the carbon can is. The concept of the Turn2 kit is the way to go IMO though I have yet to try it.
  6. Lupo wipers wearing out? I've experienced the exact opposite. Must of installed my Lupo wipers 18 months to 2 years ago and they are still working as well as when first installed. I will say this though that I noticed at Stealth the Lupo blades on others cars looked a different design to mine. Same blade but fatter looking mount on the blade.
  7. You must replace the arm and the blade. The new blades will not fit on the existing Corrado arms. At least they didn't unless they'e changed the design in the 2 years since I installed mine. A tip that could save your windscreen.... When fitting the arms place a blanket over your windscreen as you just might catch the arm and without a blade it could take a chunk out of the windscreen. Or as in my case my hand which heroically threw itself between the arm and screen to save the screen. You could do it with the blade on but I found it bloody awkward. Another tip: When fitting the new arms use masking tape to mark where the existing blade sit as this will make installation of the new arms a lot easier.
  8. However aren't certain tuning companies offering what are effectively G70s? ie. Bahn Brenners GT70 conversion?
  9. Hehe! Its actually for sale http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12022 £900 ono Make me an offer though because you might be pleasantly suprised what I'd let it go for.
  10. Very, very nice. I remember when you announced the start of this project. Clean and simple lines with the ONLY choice of wheel to have on a Corrado. 360 bhp and 4WD hehe! I bet a few cars get a shock when an old Corrado kicks sand in their faces!
  11. Scruffy and in need of love but its all there!
  12. Not as much as your wallet would within a week of owning it!
  13. Really depends on what you use the existing Corrado for and what you want out of the next car. A Porsche 968 is a good choice though as Roddy says 10K is stretching it add another 3-4K for a well spec'd low miler. Trouble is most 968s weren't well spec'd. Avoid Club Sports because they are usually thrashed. 968s sound nice at 150mph+ on the M27  but on idle sound like a Royal Mail delivery truck. Oh and have £1500 spare in case the ECU fries - a common fault apparantly. You could just buy a rat car ie. 1996 E36 328i Sport with under 40K miles and still keep the Corrado. Gets you to work in a degree of comfort and style, rapid but not stellar and half decent residuals. **** me I'm sounding all grown up!
  14. For what its worth the VR6 burst its radiator the other day and its in having a new VW one fitted. Labour aside its a mere £150 for the radiator. My old E30 325i Touring radiator cost £200+ for a non-BMW rad.
  15. What I hate about the Corrado the most is that it won't last for ever.

Kev, Your car sound very similarly spec'd engine wise to mine was especially as you have the 268s going in. Mine was VSR, AmD t/b and remap and Schrick 268s with Milltek back box and ITG/Eurosport induction kit. I always felt the engine had more power available and it did seem to run out of breath a bit at high rpm. I can't remember why I considered the Milltek sports cat, maybe Scott realised I hadn't spent any money for a month or two and suggested it  , but believe me it REALLY opened up the engine. Suddenly the engine felt waay more powerful especially at 4500rpm+. It did actually feel like the engine was being choked before. It is also possible that your Schrick isn't switching over as mine wasn't until Geoff Everett waved his magic wand (well plugged something in  ) BTW, my VR6 has no problem with emissions come MOT time.
  17. No never got started. It is in exactly the same as when picked up though I gave it a quick clean inside and out but otherwise nothing. Needs the bottom end shells replacing which I believe is around a 3-4 hour job but otherwise it still pulls well. When I picked it up and Andy drove back my VR6 I was suprised how well I was able to keep up. He left me for dead at some stages but none the less it still feels good. The gear level has gotten stiff through standing but otherwise not too bad considering it is a shed! It needs a lot of love but idea for someone thinking of Audi door handles, Transporter vents and a respray due to the dents! The H&R coilovers, Samcos and in-pros are sat at home patiently waiting....
  18. I'm well ta! Sorry for the delay been away in Paris last week. Hmm that price is, shall we say, a commitment. G60 maybe on its way then.
  19. Ohh the BBS RS's? The MK1 in the sig?
  20. Just curious, any reason not to get the 268's as its a future mod im looking at? :? My reason was because I was constantly driving the car like a loon and subsequently got a 6 month ban because of it. The 268s with a VSR/VGI are a good combo and my reason for them over other cams were because the VSR already gave a nice increase in torque so I could afford to loose a little mid range for the benefit of power further up. My thinking, though flawed, was because most of my driving was on motorways and the car spent its life above 3000rpm at 70-80mph this would make sense. It did and under 3000rpm the car mostly behaved just like a stock VR6 but from the moment the VSR switched and the cams coming on about 1500rpm later it just rocketed from the switch to redline. It encouraged fast motorway driving and flying past an unmarked copper at 130mph was the point I realised the 268s weren't good for me!
  21. "Why you shouldn't buy a Corrado".... Because you can't afford to run one? Not meant as a derogatory remark but the running costs of a Corrado aren't hidden and whilst they aren't expensive compared to many cars they aren't Ford/Vauxhall cheap either. Remember it was a £20K+ car new 10 years ago and therefore the costs to run will be comparable. Too many people look at just the purchase price of a second hand car when buying IMO. ie. There's a Ferrari 308 GT4 DINO on Auto Trader at the moment for £12K but would you expect the running costs to be the same as brand new Ford Mondeo?
  22. Your a mad fool! :D  I might I've two motorbikes, two cars and none get used enough to warrant keeping other than the VR which each time the miles click another 1000 my heart sinks. :( I feel like I'm slowing killing it. When do you expect your car to be ready? :notworthy:
  23. Blimey Lee!!! I turn my back on Corrados for a year or so and.... What is going on here?! Like the "removal" of the weld joints below the rear clusters. I might be wildy wrong here but it almost looks like your going for a clean Cal-look style ala Ritchie Kings old baby blue Karmann Ghia if anyone can recall that. Always amazed how unbelievably clean your car was especially as it was a daily driver. Can't wait to see this!!! :)
  24. Thanks guys. In those photos I'd spent about 3 evenings before Inters a few years back polishing it. Those photos are after I'd been and it had been flung down the strip a few times too. I used Zymol auto bathe to wash it, a couple of polishes with HD Cleanse, then about 3 applications of their Concours Glaze. The trick really seems to be, other than making sure the car is clean and well polished of course, to buff the glaze lightly at first with no real pressure but enough to make the glaze transparent then an hour or so later come back and buff it again. The spec on isn't as powerful as it once was because the Schrick 268 cams just made you drive it like a nutter everywhere because they kicked in a few rpm after the VSR kicked in  but it has: VW Motorsport VSR (polished) AmD re-map AmD throttle body Turn2 lightened crank pulley Milltek sports cat Milltek back box Sach Sporting Kit suspension (at tasteful 25mm drop ie. not slammmmmmed!!! ) ITG cone filter (haha! I've just remembered I've a Turn2 CAI kit in the garage somewhere to fit too! oops!) Vibratechnic engine mounts (which reminds me... doh.. Stage 3 Turn2 mounts are somewhere to be fitted) Tarox G88 front discs Goodridge braided brake lines VW oil and volts centre console gauges and guess who's had most of my money..... http://www.auto-amd.com/corrado.asp :)
  25. Some photos of my car...
