Sounds like the bypass valve to me, changed mine and its fine now
-
As i only really know one owner-me- i guess i must be the oldest Corrado owner i know :?
-
As soon as mine comes i will get on it and get it sorted,i did it on a beetle years ago with success although this was an aftermarket de-mister with each 'bar' being about 15mm wide! Will let you know how it does..

Not had this on my C yet, although it happened on a couple of Mk2 Flogs i've owned, cured one by removing it and re-fitting and the noise stopped. The other i tried the first method with no result so removed it again and dropped a little lightweight oil (3in1) onto the bearing and it stopped it for a few weeks and ended up chucking a good second hand one in. Trial and error time really...

Does it warm up as it should do initially then cool down after about 5 mins driving? If so it looks like the recall bypass valve, not expensive and easy to do. Mine was like that, i changed it - the car heating is better than ever now..

Snap! Mines exactly the same,i think the 'hotspots' are where the strip is damaged and the electrical current is passing through the moisture instead of the wire. You have just reminded me that i needed to order this : http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8934&frostProductName=Electro%20Connector It should solve the problem - hopefully. **EDIT** Cheaper here:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&item=330008375012&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Dodgy connection with less resistance when damp maybe? -
mines the same, sometimes stops registering after filling up then all of a sudden starts again, a bit hit and miss really, it's one of the 'not so urgent' jobs on my list - it'll serve me right if i run out of petrol though s'pose..

Have I found the other Notts County fan?:)

Few nasty surprises when stripping my C's interior
P2daz replied to gsbellew's topic in General Car Chat
That's bloody scary, I bought a MK2 Flog GTI last year off fleabay, spent a couple of hundred quid sorting it out then fitted a replacement speedo binnacle cos it kept clicking round 10k every mile or so! Anyway, thought i'd hpi to see what the true mileage was - it came up as a Cat B writeoff! I checked the car over and could find absolutely nothing wrong with it, all the numbers etc were as they should be no creases or dodgy welding.. The worse part? I had managed to get a New V5,MOT it, Tax it and insure it without so much as a question asked by anyone! Surely if it was a writeoff it should be flagged up somewhere along the line? -
Hi David, i found a pipe had come off the air box! re-fitted it and hey - presto - everything is great again. Daz

I have a set of Azev C wheels missing the centre caps, does anyone know where i can get replacement caps - either vw or Azev ?

Hi, have you checked the bottom of the door cards? were they wet? I had a problem with a previous car where the membrane had come away from the door and water was getting that way - took me ages to find it!

I don't beleive it! After posting the above post and reading through the others - i thought i'd nip outside and give my engine the once over.. I found a pipe disconnected! The best way to describe it is about a 20mm diameter pipe coming from the bottom of the airbox into a round device?? I have only owned the car for a few weeks and when i come to think of it the trouble started after i had been poking around(checking the air filter) so i have only myself to blame. I wont know until tomorrow morning if that's definately it but it looks promising. I only hope your trouble ends up being as simple Jim. -

I am watching this thread with great interest, I have similar problems but not as severe yet, changed the ditributor cap, rotor arm, although when i went to change the plugs found that no socket i had in my kit was long enough :? After mine has warmed up it runs as sweet as a nut, i have a sneaky feeling it will get worse as the mornings get colder though.... Good luck in your quest Jim, -
Not strictly speaking today - but saturday - i fitted a recall valve to replace what i hoped was a faulty one, today i took it out for a run and had heat (bloody hot as well) for the whole duration of the trip , not just for the first ten minutes- result

Mmmm, forum discount?? about 80% should do me

Here's the photos chaps, been very happy with it, getting by without the 'play all' option by creating playlists of my most played stuff. Any questions - please ask Daz

At startup my car - 1.8 16v really struggles, misfiring and spluttering at first until i have gone down the road a mile or so then is perfect. I smell fuel quite strongly as well, does this indicate that fuel is leaking into one of the bores? Any advice appreciated.

Fitted it tonight, no major issues really and i haven't had a lot of time tonight to test it properly, but initial impressions are very good. I fitted the 'brain' in the glove box , the display where the cassette storage used to be , the controller is mounted just in front of the gear stick and the ipod is in the ashtray! Jim, you can use any ipod as long as it has the dock connector - which the Nano does. I haven't got an auxillary input on my stereo so i was relying on the built in FM transmitter and it sounds excellent (i am no audiophobe though)better than the reception with my itrip anyway. I will give it a good test tomorrow and hopefully (if i can find my camera) i'll post some photos of the installation as well.
