  1. Cheers Beesting, i suspect your right in that with aircon box fitted the matrix airbox wont slide out with the dash in. I've got some 1001 carpet cleaner which i hope will work - carpet looks like novelty pink fun-fur at the moment...........!! maybe i should have gone for the one with black leather and carpets......... but the beige interior looked so nice...! pb
  2. Hey All, well after a few months of condensation from what i now know was a failing matrix, its finally popped - and when the girlfriend was driving it of course...!!! So, does anyone know if it is possible to do the dash in matrix change with that big old air-con box in the way?? Secondly, does anyone know how badly G12+ will permanently stain my now 'pink-tinged' beige carpets?!?! I've mopped the worst up...!! many thanks, pb
  3. Anyone..?? I really don't want to buy a £180 master cylinder and find out it isn't that.... What about other cars with the same master?? Do all VR6's have the same brake master cylinder if i go to a scrappy?? Some guy was selling one on eBay that was supposed to be VR6, but he said it had 2 outlets, I'm thought mine only has one output going to the ABS system.....
  4. The brakes on my VR6 are really bad. the pedal almost touches the floor, and you can only just set the abs off.... Pedal doesn't sink if you leave your foot on it though... I have bled through the entire system with new fluid - the old was near black..!! and from every nipple i can find, with no bubbles anywhere until i get to the brake master cylinder nipple... It streams tiny air bubbles from it and they dont disappear with +250ml of fluid put through....?!?!?! So how can air get into the master cylinder like this without any fluid leaking out..?!?!? oh, and yeah there aren't any leaks that i can find, and fluid doesn't go down any help much appreciated, pb
  5. It would be good if someone else could confirm, but im 95% sure this vacuum sensor is only for engine, not the MFA economy.... im sure the economy is the same set up as 8v K-jet golfs and sciroccos, and im 100% sure these had the sensor behind instrument cluster... if you look you will see a small rigid vacuum pipe disappearing somewhere through the bulkhead... as for getting to it... basically clocks out.... it cant be any more of a pain than other VWs, but i couldnt tell you screw locations, etc.... bentley maybe?? hope that helps, pb
  6. i thought the spaceship just supplied vacuum 'information' to the 'wiring loom' or ECU - are these just K-jetronic or digifant?? the MFA trip economy is supplied by a vacuum line going through the bulkhead, and the sensor is on the back of the instrument cluster IIRC pb
  7. i guess its a 16v or G60?? I'm sure its the same as sciroccos and MkII's. yes its either a leak in the vacuum pipe going to the back of the dash, or the little vaccum sensor that sits on the back of the instrument cluster that the pipe goes to.... i imagine there are many cars across the range with the same sensor you could easily nab from a scrappy... maybe check ETKA for part number?!? pb
  8. after visually checking the pump and the strainer out, and if you can work out which pipe is flow and not return you can run another piece of pipe from the outlet into a bottle and check it pumps satisfactorily. i cant rememebr what the flow rate should be, but from memory with the rocco it filled a 2l lemonade bottle very quickly!! pb
  9. when i had a very similar thing on the k-jet scirocco it was the pick-up pump in the tank that had a blocked strainer. check the operation of the pump or the strainer under the black cover in the boot. often they work fine initially but after 10-20 mins they start to struggle and therefore starve the main'pressure' pump which causes the buzzing you are hearing... pb
  10. Sorted..!! was a blown in line 15A fuse. it had really melted itself and melted the inline fuse holder a little bit with it around one of the spades.. why would it melt so bad and not blow initially???? if i only have 1 relay and 1 fuse and it was the dip that went, does that mean i only have the upgraded loom to the dip only??? pb
  11. yeah i believe i do... after a bit of 'internet stalking' of the previous owner who did a lot to it (jedi-knight83 or nathan willits??) i believe it came from 'H100vw' or similar. i had a quick look this morning but couldnt see any obvious fuses or realys near the headlights - where do the uprated looms normally run?? just from the lights to the battery?? would the uprated loom be obvious as in non-original connectors on the lights??!? the joys of second hand cars............... pb
  12. cheers, ive wipped the cowling off this morning before work and gave it a quick spray with WD40 to no avail so far though..... it now just stays on sidelights on the dipped position..... i need to check out the updated loom relays and fuses back seem to find anything like them under the bonnet yet - is corrado wiring always so insane looking??? i thought they maybe similar to golf mk3 - the girfriend has already seen me eyeing up hers to check with....... anyone know how to get the stalk off, or is it obvious once the steering wheel is off?? thanks pb
  13. does anyone know what will happen if i disconnect the battery on my VR6 fitted with a toad Ai606 alarm, with it disarmed on the key fob...?? the piranha on my scirocco needed to be switched off with a key otherwise the alarm thought it was being chopped and went off..... any thoughts greatly appreciated, murray
  14. Help..!! My first proper problem that will stop me using the car. I've had the VR for about a month now and am LOVING it..!! However going up a dark windy A road tonight on full beam i dipped to see if any cars were coming in the opposite direction and low and behold there wasnt any light.... not good with a corner rapidly approaching...... however it went straight back to full beam so i pulled over and switched the main switch on and off a few times and operated the stalk a few times and the dipped came back on. quickly got it home on dipped and then played with the stalk a few times and the dipped dissappeared again....!! any ideas what this could be as ive gotta drive down to devon on thursday night...!! sticky switches in the stalk?? dodgy relay?? im still completely lost with anything on the corrado without a trusty workshop manual yet.... many thanks, murray
  15. Thanks for the welcome..!! I've always found the whole Scirocco 1 vs 2, Scirocco 2 vs Corrado debate amusing.... As far as I'm concerned the Corrado is the Scirocco mk3. You only have to look at the pair of them currently parked in my drive in silhouette and the evolution is unmistakable. Much like a golf 3 is clearly the golf 2's younger brother..... Ive always wondered how many Corrado owners on the forum had a scirocco before it, or at least lusted after one when younger?? I wish i could keep both..... :( Pb
  16. Firstly hi to everyone, this will be my newbie post to the forum and it will still be full of the enthusiasm of now finally having an L-plate corrado VR6 'storm wannabe' parked on the drive - classic green with beige leather interior, air con, and BBS solitudes I still cant believe it. I've had my beautiful 20 year old metallic pewter Scirocco GTX for the last 8 years, and have been completely faithful, but ive finally gone and dumped her for her younger sibling, and off Ebay no less..... Driving the new corrado is helping me deal with then pain of selling the rocco though...!!! :D Im still not quite used to so much of the power coming in past 4000rpm, and by which point its already flying anyway... woo-hoo........... But, im having the fear of having to deal with a very big engine in a very small place when it comes to fixing mechanicals and servicing....... My first problem and enquiry - although probably not in the right place. It seems that when i activate the rear wash wipe, i end up with water in the passenger footwell?!?!? does the supply pipe for the rear W/W pass through the dash above the passenger footwell then?!?! cheers for now, PB
