I know its not corrado related but....A3 vs Golf?
Benny replied to Benny's topic in General Car Chat
persistent fellow aren't ya!? :D I had looked at it to be honest, and if it was a 3-dr then you might have been in luck! Nice motor though at a good price...shouldn't have too much trouble selling it. Have you advertised it on edition38? -

:D Lovely car, but my budget is pretty much half of what you're asking! :D I've come to the conclusion that its a mk4 or a3 aswel I think.....no disrespect to the leon, but its just not my cup o' tea....although I did see a nice rado g60 on pistonheads tother day which i'm toying with. I'm extremely confused as to what to buy as you can see.... I fancy the whole 'modern car' concept with all the goodies that go with it (including a nice turbo), but I really miss the rado at the same time. In an ideal world...i'd have both of course! :D -

Thanks for you replies. Carpy25....I would LOVE the quattro version but my budget won't stretch that far i'm afraid! :D Lovely motor by the way, I do like the look of the audi....and theres a couple relatively close to me for good money so I might go and have a quick look. Goldie....I have looked at the Leon's as you do seem to get more for your money in terms of power and also in the year of car I should be able to pick up. Theres just something niggling at me to go with golf or a3 though, and I really can't explain it.....hmmmm, decisions. Any more thoughts are most welcome..... :D -
Mornin all! I know this isn't corrado-related, but as most of you seem to have experience of other cars I was hoping to pick your brains for a moment! I've recently sold my VR and i'm on the lookout for a new car. Originally, it was to be a diesel due to the crippling cost of petrol, but stupidally i've decided I can't live without a petrol car and have decided to go down the 1.8t route in the form of an a3 or vw golf mk4.....and I was just wandering if anyone had an opinion on which to go for or if anyone has any experience of owning one? :confused4: The audi's for some reason, seem to be slightly lower in price but i'm assuming thats down to the whole 'golf GTI' pedigree. I will be looking at the early models around 1998-2000 due to budget issues.... Any thoughts/opinions will be most welcome.... Thanks guys and gals, Ben :D

My old vr....i'm missing it like mad, but at least its gone to a good owner who will give her the care and attention she needs! :D Got it looking good already matey...keep me posted! -
yup, its an L-reg. Thanks for your response....I was thinking somewhere about the £1500 mark myself to be honest.
-
nope, no info on the chains i'm afraid...but that doesn't mean they havent been done (not that that helps at all....). Yup, I really like the colour aswel.....just a shame I have to get rid. :( Any ballpark figures on price would be helpful though guys and gals....

Hi all. Sadly, the time has come to accept that I need a diesel car. :( As a result, the VR6 has got to go and I was wandering if you guys and gals could help advise me with a price for it? The description below is as honest as I can make it: Engine: 2.9 VR6 (ABV) with 136k. The engine is sweet, except for a very occasional misfire which we

I'm having the same problem emirc, and its really starting to annoy me now as it really spoils the whole car (especially as i'm a relatively new owner :( ) I recently changed the ECU (as it came with the wrong one when I bought it), so i'm thinking that could be the culprit if its faulty? But if someone has any other ideas then they would be much appreciated! :D
-
Sounds very similar to the problem i'm having at the moment....except I assumed it was down to other things. Haven't had mine on the diagnostic.....but upto now i've changed the dizzy (which was completely knackered), and the 109 relay. At first, thought i'd cured it but then it came back. :( I know this is totally unhelpful, but i'll be following this and hopefully someone will be along to help us out! :)
-
Cheers for that. Replaced my relay 109 the other day aswel...and fingers crossed, it seems to have done the job. Happy days... :D
-
Any more news on this? I've just started having very similar problems with my vr and would be interested in knowing if you've managed to solve it? Cheers.
-
one day i'll let it slip and everyone will hate me! I'm going to get sum pics up soon when its out of the garage so you can have a gander then..... :D
-
No mate....I don't want to reveal how much i got it for, lets just say it was an extremely good price! :D It needs a repaint ideally...but was holding off on it until I found out if it was worth the money first. Now i know it is, i'm happy to spend some money on her now.......can't wait to get her on the road! :D
-
Well I finally got my new vr to the MOT man this week after a hellish time trying to sort out an ECU for it! Bearing in mind the car had been stood for a year in the rear of some dodgy garage in the 'not so nice area of liverpool' and with no history to speak of....i feared the worst! This was to be the decider on whether it was a keeper or a seller....... But im EXTREMELY happy to report it only failed on two brake pipes and a slight emissions problem! :D I couldn't believe it! i was thinking my savings were going to take a massive hit.....my mechanic even said how straight and solid she was......so with any luck, i'll have her on the road next week so i can get some new pics and start treating her to some new goodies..... I know this topic is a bit pointless but i had to share the joy!

thanks for all your help :D . The one's I've been offered are a lot cheaper than the ones in the f/s section....so was hoping they would be the right ones. If the golf 3 ones definetly fit, then according to venom's website, the golf 3/vento highsports have the same part number.... Its all a bit confusing, so unless someone can shed anymore light on this, I might have to let them go... :(
-
anyone any ideas? Want to let the guy know if i'm defo going to take them.... :D
-
Hi all. Well i've been offered a set of FK Highsports for my vr6 at a reasonable price, but the only catch is they are for a vento vr6. So, i used the search and read through some older posts and came to the conclusion that mk3 golf suspension will fit my rado as long as they came off a vr, but after a little investigation the part numbers do seem to differ slightly: - VW Corrado VR6 - part number FKVW58 -VW Vento/Golf VR6 - part number FKVW55 So, I was just wandering if there is any difference in these kits, or alternatively if anyone's fitted Vento/Golf kits to their rado's before? And if so, did they go on ok? Cheers in advance for your help.... :D

Hello from one newbie to another! :D Car looks clean mate...nice one.
-
Lippy, you make a good point! :) Yup, my first port of call will be the garage to get it on the ramp and have them make sure everything is straight and then i'll start with the basics before I go shelling money on the spray. But upto now, nothing major seems wrong (touch wood) so happy days... Just need to sell my other car now (below) to regain some funds!
-
cheers for the comments so far peeps.....yup, the colour's growing on me I must admit! It seems to change colour from every angle! As for the dent, i'm afraid thats the tip of the ice-berg! :D But i'm optimistic.....and a respray is definitely on the cards I think.....

Hello all.... Just thought I would introduce myself. Been pottering around on here for a while now, and finally I bought my first corrado on the weekend! So heres my new Vr6....its got a few cosmetic problems (or a lot depending on how you look at it!), but I got it at a good price and the motor seems ok so all is not lost! I only took it out for a few minutes on the test drive, but i'm hooked on the noise already! :-) So can't wait to get it MOT'd and on the road properly..... Anways, hope you all like...i'm sure i'll have a HUGE number of questions to ask over the coming weeks, but for now i'm just glad i've finally got one! :D Hopefully, this pic will work for now...and once its on the road, i'll get some better ones!

If its the 16v at CS car sales on the wirral, then I wen't and viewed this car the other day.....Its a strange green/grey colour which I haven't seen too often. The car itslef was ok, except for quite a long scratch down the drivers wing, some laquer peal on the rear panel, and it also looked like the sunroof had jammed sometime ago as there were marks on it....other than that, it was a nice motor with some brock style wheels, a stainless exhaust and some nice interior bits....but a little overpriced in my eyes. Hope this helps....
-
Yup. That was my thoughts on it.....wants shut of a g60 after a month cos he's bored does'nt seem right somehow...so I thought he had got it home, checked it over and realised some major problems so decided to get shut of it. Thats what i keep telling myself anyway...at the same time as kicking myself for not just going for it!
-
well he said he was a bit bored, and fancied a change of car.The car did look awesome and very clean...but I think it was the fact that he didn't mention any of this before I went up that really put me off.
