Well I last spoke to him Wednesday and he still hasn't logged in to check his 204 messages. Did say he had posted it a week ago and would chase up the delivery.. hhmm.. I'll give it until tomorrow then I'll ring again and get a consignment number to check myself.

Well the workshop is far from tidy at the moment. Most of the tools are taken away each night and locked up.. bit of a dodgy area :? Cleaniness is next to godliness  When it comes to taking cars apart anyway! -
Well if this hasn't been resolved by early next week, then I'll be taking legal action! There's no 2 ways about it, it's theft. Business man or not, a bit forgetful or whatever, he needs to keep in touch with people who have payed him money!!

Not much to update other than 3 weekends worth of solid cleaning, scrapping and painting. Then there's the endless task of listing all the seals and gaskets I need. Not to mention rounded off or snapped bolts! Just started to detail the other side of the engine bay. Next job is sorting all the wiring out.. well.. replacing all the cloth tape that has perished over the years. Still waiting on that cross member  Pix aren't too good this time.. cold!! ::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: -
So far I think it's just: JoeG60 - £20 for a foglight. ewang33 - £80 for rad support and cross member. cheers Neil.

Thanks Neil that would be a great help 8)

Thanks mate, PM'd you. hhmm.. I don't understand how he can disappear like this?! when he has people waiting for bits! Like I said, he was quick enough to cash the cheque!! I can't afford to laugh off 80 bucks!
-
Thanks guys.. sorry! Just a bit stressed when I wrote this earlier. Didn't think about the whole address thing. I'm sure he's just forgot.. He's clearly a sound guy looking at his posts! I mean, breaking a complete car for bits is pretty big task when it comes to postage and who's paid for what. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

I'm at the end of my tether.. so this is a last desperate attempt to contact this guy!! :x Does anyone know Matthew Gregory (G60BoyRacer) from Sheffield? Where the hell he is or how I can contact him?? It's been a good 6 weeks ago since I last sent him a cheque for payment of a cross member off his G60 he was breaking. The cheque cleared within 2 days of posting it so he wasn't slow in cashing it in! This was the last I heard off Mat.. 6 weeks later I'm £80 down and NO cross member!! A few people have PM'd me (Thanks), who have done business with Mat, and said he was a sound bloke and had no problems at all with him. It was to be delivered to my work address via business post, yet there is no record of it ever leaving his address through parcel companies I have used in the past. His mobile goes through to answer machine, and he's not been online here for 6 weeks.. is he in hospital? Left the country? Forgotten to send the part?? I just don't know. If anyone lives near this address, do me a favor.. drive past and have a look. Or post a note through the door maybe?! I'm based in Bristol so it's a long journey to Sheffield for me. Sorry 'mods' if this is the wrong thing to do.. please advice! here's the details I have: **Details Removed**

I fitted a GSF front mount on the golf. It was pretty good and made a massive difference, but then the old one did come out in two pieces :? Like with most people on here I've spent years buying parts from ECP, GSF and the stealers.. some parts are good and some you wonder how the hell they can sell them?? I once bought a new coolant resevoir from ECP of which the casting was so bad it wouldn't flow coolant properly. GSF's part was no better, so I forked out for a oem dealer unit. Some things you just can't skimp on I guess! If it wasn't for forums like this one giving hands on experience.. I'd be bankrupt!!

Well no updates after last weekend.. didn't get chance to do anything on the Rado. Too buzy doing the head gasket and exhaust on the Polo.. what a mess!! Just waiting on delivery of a new rad support from G60BoyRacer up in Sheffield (cheers Mat). I'm planning to detail as much of the engine block as possible while I'm there, untill I get chance to pull the whole engine this summer anyway. What colour should I go for? I'm not keen on gloss black!! Was thinking dark grey?! -

Well it didn't start like that mate.. thats nearly 6 weeks of hard graft :? It's only a prefab so it was leeking like a sieve, and still not 100% now in this weather. But it gets pretty cozy with the parafin heater and the radio on 8) -
Good luck with the project fella.. nice to see another C being saved from the grave. They're worth saving! Nice colour too.

weekend update.. Someone please remind me why the @$%? I'm doing this?? Charger, brackets, rad and everything else forward of the engine block is out. I only meant to swap the friggin charger out?! But you know how these things end up.. "I'll just clean this.. then that.. ohh there's some rust there.." oh crap! :::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::: After pulling the bumper, I can't believe what I found?? I guess being parked up in a damp garage for a year has done it no good. The rad support or cross member has completely rusted through. Basically I need a new one, or second hand and restore it. It's too far gone to fix. According to ETKA there's two types, early and late. I'll need to check my chassis number... :::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::: It's this bit: :::::::::::::::::::::::: I hate this bolt!!! Rounded out completely.. The only one that defied the air impact wrench! Should be fun getting this out.. :::::::::::::::::::::::: Charcoal canister.. big, ugly but leaves a lovely hole for a CAI 8) :::::::::::::::::::::::: More fun to come... -

Cheers Russ, I forget you work for a Vag dealers, Audi? Most of the hex bolts are ok, but they took quite a bit of torque to get moving.. I'd rather put new ones on. I'll do a list on the weekend 8) I was pretty chuffed to get the reg number in the deal as well. Never had a cherished plate before. A Set of german plates should set it off. -

Yep, the westside of the transporter bridge. Did a mini photoshoot there a few months back with the Newport crew. Had to use the wide angle to get all the garage in.. it's pretty small to be honest. I see what you mean about the Dirty Sanchez thing.. If only I had room for a half pipe 8) -

Alright Russ, Happy New Year mate. Dan's black money pit is coming along nicely.. He's spent a fortune already. Problems with leeky door seals, getting his spacers sorted, suspension.. it goes on but he's happy. Dans: I'm gonna be keeping mine mostly standard for the moment. I just need to find a cheap vag part dealer for all the bits. Rad, brakes, suspension, waterpump, cambelt etc.. and a load of new hex bolts for the charger, coz they like to round off :x -
I bought the car back in October just after selling my valver, I've just been too busy to do any work on it. I bought it from a good friend Peter (well known classic concourse guy) who intended getting it up to concourse condition for shows. He only owned the car for a few months when the charger blew.. after that he lost interest and put it into storage. It's only done 36k so the bodywork is pretty good. Just a shame the previous owners didn't know jack about these cars so the servicing wasn't done by a specialist. Spent the last few months getting my new garage sorted. Lick of paint, sorted the leeks out and security issues.. so finally started to pull the charger apart to see what the damage was. New garage.. secret location  ::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: Blown charger: ::::::::::::::::::::::: Found this on the underside.. it had also blown a hole in the main chamber: ::::::::::::::::::::::: Found out what happened soon as I removed it.. looks like the toothed belt just failed and caused havoc inside.. I see why G-werks use 12mm belts! Proof that low mileage cars still need cam/charger belts checked regularly. ::::::::::::::::::::::: Looking at the crap left in the pipes I'll need to pull the intercooler too.. ::::::::::::::::::::::: Other than that the rest of the car is pretty mint.. ::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: I'll post pics as I go along. After a trip to G-works and the new charger goes in it's onto the brakes and suspension.

How much does a 68mm pulley and chip effect the mpg over standard? Anyone got before and after results?
-
A bit of a risk I realise now  Fingers crossed this one will be ok. I won't leave feedback until G-werks have had a look of course. How much am I looking at roughly for a refurb please? Looking at the pic of mine.. is this now a big paperweight? Can any internals be salvaged if this eGay one is crap?
-
Just won one on eGay. I literally just pressed buy and chaz G60 PM'd me offering his for the same price. Would have prefered to buy off a member. The guy from eGay sounds honest enough fingers crossed. From North London. Said he's always to buzy to post on here  £310. Was running well before being removed to make way for a turbo conversion. On about 70k never been refurbed. I'll send it straight over to G-werks for a refurb I think. So you reckon 68mm pulley and chip will be safe? I did consider a BBM. But I'd rather keep this one more or less standard to start with. see what happens... :-P
-
Well like with the valver, my intention was to keep it pretty much standard. But you know, the head gasket goes, the exhaust falls off and you end up replacing things that are better than oem. So like wise yes, I'll probably end up wanting a little more power in the G60. Whats considered safe to do? Chip and pulley are hidden away and look original. Yet big F off FMIC's mean major front bumper mods. Also, not knowing first hand, the state of the engine, although the history looks pretty good, I don't want to go over the top just yet. Chip and uprated 'standard' SMIC sounds good to start with.
-
Cheers for the info all. 8) The plan is to garage it for a few months and get the work done. All the charger related pipes will come off to be checked yes, I may even take the head off (if money allows). Whats the price on a top end gasket set these days? I'm a bit reluctant to buy a charger that needs a second refurb. How many times can they be done? And is there anything that can be done to prolong the life other than 'not' booting it up the road everyday? Didn't VW guarantee the factory charger for 60k. Why do refurb units only last 40k with all new seals and modified internals? Sorry I'm sure this has been discussed a million times on here before. I just hope the rest of the engine is in good order. The mileage is 34k! (yes 34,000 original miles) and it's been checked. Seems to have spent half it's life in one little village. Again, in my experience this doesn't do the engine any good. Like the valver they need a few good long drives to keep everything nicely oiled. I'll PM chazG60 now
