Get it checked out mate. I was hit up the arse a couple of weeks ago. When i got out and looked at my car ( MK4 GOLF ) there was only a small dent in the back bumper so i thought nothing of it. Any way i went through my insurance and the shunt had pushed all the back panel behind the bumper into my spare wheelwell and then the bumper sprung back out. Well i got my car back on saturday ( after 2 weeks ) and it cost the insurance copmany £1800 to repair. But the other side is paying for it as well as my injury claim?

Here is one that i use and its only £9.95. https://www.mycarcheck.com/

Would you be able to fit a set of 18" with no alteration? Or what alteration would i need?

Whats the largest alloy wheel you can fit to a vr6 with the standard suspension fitted? I've done a search and could'nt find any topics.

Cheers for the quick reply. I've just relised i have put this in the wrong section. Doh

Would 10/30 semi be ok for a 1993 vr6 with 158k on the clocks? Only i have been given 5 litres of the stuff and i need to do a oil change.

Right then folks i have got the new switch fitted and all is now well. The car car starts as normal now. The only problem i had is the little bloody screw, I ended up smashing the old switch of as the screw was so tight.
-
Ok i have found the wire it was the starter feed wire. It was tucked up under the dash? Only problem i have now is i cannot get the screw out to remove the ignition switch, Will try again tomorrow as it is to dark now to carry on.

Does anyone know what each coloured wire on the back of the ignition go to? i.e which wire goes to what? Reason i ask is i seem to be one missing??? Its been cut and i can't find where it is?

I managed to get a good corrado vr6 gearbox but i now have to wait while the guy takes it off. But hopefully it will only be a few days. So does anyone know how much it would cost to fix the 5th gear in my old box or should i just sell it on? ( How much would it be worth? all gears are fine apart from 5th )

I got the ignition switch from the dealers this morning and it cost me £17.68 plus the vat. The part number is 6N0-905-865 just in case anyone wants to get one for there corrado. I will fit it tomorrow and let you all know the outcome.

Cheers for all the replies folks. I will phone the stealers up tomorrow and see how much they are going to rob me.

The car starts fine but only on the button.

Hi folks, It's about time i started work on my corrado ( now xmas is out the way ) My corrado vr6 will not start off the key it has a push button start instead? So i was wondering if the ignition switch was knackered so that is why someone fitted the daft start button. Also it was fitted at a garage as i have a receipt (£45.00) for supply and fitting of the switch. So do you folks think it could be the ignition switch or something else?

Right then folks after plenting of messing around i have decided that it is my gearbox. It still drives but i have no 5th gear, So does anyone know where i can get one from? I have sourced a couple myself but one is a bit far away and the other i have been told whine's.

URGENT - Need help confirming if struts are safe / normal ?

Look at all that dirt? LOL sorry but could'nt help myself. Mine are exactly the same so i would'nt worry. -
It needed the heater fixing (thermal fuse)£0.73 from maplin. The drivers seat would'nt fold forward (new wire)£5.92 from vw dealers. I adjusted the gears (problem with 5th) and it has a couple of small car park dents. So nothing major just daft little things.

Cheers for the comments guys. I'm really impressed with it

Yes to clean it up and keep it nice and original.

Thought it was about time i posted a few pics of my vr6. Only got it a few weeks ago and as its my second car i can spend some time restoring it. Its a late 1992 model with 156k on the clock but i have loads of paperwork for it, Its got nearly full history and i have got a folder of full of receipts. I was bored last night so i sat down with a calculator and added them all up and it came to £6105.45 So at least i know it has been looked after.
-
Cheers for the offer but the car is not yet on the road. I got it so i can restore it to how it was when it left the showroom. So for the time being it is of the road. But hopefully not for to long?

I took it to see a mechanic friend earlier today and he reckoned that they might of stretched as they are 13 years old? But you can select 5th gear by pulling the selector bar directly from the gearbox with no problems? If you try and select it from the gearstick sometimes it will go and other times it will grind? So i will have another look tomorrow to see if the black plastic thingy is damaged?
-
It was only the side to side bar that i adjusted and not the actual gear change bar and i did'nt notice if the black plastic part was damaged so i will have to take another look tomorrow?
-
Right folks i have had a look and attempted to adjust, But i lost reverse gear so i put it back as it was. I pulled the selector bar in the gearbox to select 5th gear manually ( as this is what i lost ) and it engaged? So it looks like its not my gearbox and it is the selector cables. I've decided to replace them with new one's and when i phoned my local vw dealer they said it would cost me around £145.00 plus vat so does anyone know where i can get them cheaper?

Cheers for the info guys, I will have a look at it tomorrow when it is light. I also forgot to say what car it was? It's a 1993 K reg vw corrado vr6.
