Hi there! I saw your post and was really confused, I've had Eibach ARBs for years on my VR6 and not experienced any of these scraping issues. I am still using the original wishbones but I can see that you have nice shiny new ones, could there be a difference there? I got under the car and can fit a finger tip between the wishbone and ARB on both sides. I do know that the ARBs are CNC formed (so precise and repeatable), the bending program and dimensional checking fixtures have not changed since the beginning of Corrado production! I have to declare an interest as I work for Eibach. We work very closely with VW and will normally receive both the oem drawings and a test car from VW to develop our performance parts. So any VW issue we take pretty seriously. I would be really grateful if you could let me know what the final outcome is, so we can make sure the the advice is passed on to our other Corrado customers. I am on this forum as a proud Corrado owner and not an Eibach representative but this bothered me. Hope all is sorted now, please just let me know that the alignment has solved the problem. Cheers.

I know it's had it's critics recently but I'm going to go for the 1/4mile strip. I heard that the handling course is also to be resurrected this year. Had a great time (and posted a good time) last year, so will be there again to see if new tyres, suspension and polybush action gets me into the 12s (was 13.2sec, 4.8sec 0-60 last year). Mines the green Storm with Black alloys if anyone sees me - say hello!

Just a quick note to warn people off Toyo Proxes PX4's. I previously had Toyo Proxes T1R's and these were excellent. Due to lack of availability at my local stockist of T1Rs I opted for PX4's. This was a bad move. Vastly lower lateral grip in the dry. Understeer is considerably greater on roundabouts. In the wet it's terrible. Avoid. Fairly sure I'm going to take them off. :epicfail:

Fame at last! Got my shiny Storm with Stage 1+ Stealth turbo conversion into the January edition of Golf+ (available now). They invited me to Santa Pod for the photo shoot, even managed to get a few runs in. It's amazing how much extra grip the rubber coated start line at Santa Pod offers over the concrete and grit of Bruntingthorpe!

STEALTH RACING - Racelogic Traction Control Group Buy
Greg Kirby replied to Vince@Stealth's topic in Suppliers Forum
Chaps, other than Vince's big shiny turbo, Race Logic is the best thing that's ever been fitted to my car. You're faster in just about any road event, simply because of the optimised traction. 0-60 in 4.9 secs with just a hint of wheel spin at GTi International 1/4mile - that wasn't down to driver skill - trust me! -
The annoying loose handbrake tunnel cover - a solution!

Hey Dave I'd like to put my name down for one of these please! I don't have PayPal but I'm happy to transfer the money to you before you despatch the part. Just drop me a pm when they are ready. Are they still £12.50? -
I'm with you on that one, I'd leave it to Vince. He'll soon be able to do it with his eyes closed. He'll have optimised the method of installation, through lessons that you've yet to learn as a first time installer!

OK time to tell you all about my Stage1 + Stealth Racing VR6 Turbo conversion. I've had the car a good few weeks now and it's excellent. We had some over boosting problems that were remedied by the use of an electronic boost controller, which is already mentioned on this thread. I would recommend this type of boost control for even the Stage 1, as it allows you access to 6 boost maps, some of which can be much tamer for road or 'girlfriend / wife' use! The car is awesomely quick, yet it does everything an OE car should. It idles well, it never stalls, it manages it temperature well, in fact it feels like a massive NA engine, so smooth is the boost onset. Vince should be applauded for the way it all fits, i.e. no intercooler hanging out of the bottom of the bumper etc.. I loved people thinking it was standard at GTi International! The only hint that it is not standard is the exhaust note under load and of course the various pops and bangs on the over run. My friend Ash says that when driving behind it, it sounds like someone letting of fire crackers on Chinese New Year, every-time I back off the throttle! I took it to GTi International and the ‘proof of the pudding is in the eating’ - it won fastest Corrado on Saturday - I say it, rather than I because of my RaceLogic. This system is amazing. It really allows the car to put the 'optimum' power down for the surface. It makes the car effectively faster in any circumstance. I would serious recommend this for anyone. Don't spend all your money on power mods, save some back for RaceLogic. Obviously the Launch Control is a complete hoot, especially at night, lined up traffic light Grand Prix style against some boy racer. Simply pull up, receive the collar up & baseball cap stares from all in the car to your side. Subtly push the little green button. On amber apply full throttle, the revs will rise, the car will then bang loudly through the exhaust and rock gently from side to side, their eyes will widen at the noise, the green light will come, swiftly yet gently engage the clutch plates and leave them for absolute dust as you accelerate with almost full power at the crank and your clutch as a variable slip torque converter!! It’s a lot of money but when I sat down and thought about the cost of materials and the shear labour time involved, I’m sure Stealth are not profiting too greatly. Therefore I think it represent excellent ‘value’, if not cost. One extra word of thanks to Vince. The over boosting occurred on a Saturday. I spoke to him later in the day and told him I couldn’t make it down the same day. So he opened up, unplanned, on Sunday and spent at least 5 hours with me. How many other companies would offer that level of service?

With so many people who were supercharged and have now gone turbo (I'm one of them!), there are now more second hand superchargers available at reasonable prices. So a well looked after secondhand supercharger would, in terms of power for the pound, eclipse any filter, exhaust, cam, head polish etc... Save your pennies, keep your eyes peeled and go for the next good looking supercharger kit and enjoy nearly 300BHP. Just my thoughts!

Must have been someone else mate, standard ECU with a sprinkle of Vince magic on the map. No more, no less!

Wheels are 7x17, ET35, Gloss Black. Boost controller is a Vince recommended, Gizzmo MS-IBC, see link below: http://www.gizzmoelectronics.com/Product_MSIBC.html Scared Sh*ttless about kerbing the wheels, silver wheels get silver scratches unfortunately so do black wheels!

Sorry, I've been away on holiday. So the car. It's excellent. It's very, very quick. We had some issues over boost spiking in 4th & 5th gear, so decided that electronic boost control would be better than mechanical. New controller has solved the problem. Also has nice tuneable parameters that allow the boost characteristics to be tailored to my needs. So, good smooth build, stable peak boost, reliable boost spike stop function, allowance for 'temporary' boost over shoot (nice). Made a Porsche 996 driver cry the other day down the A5, so happy with that! Race Logic in my opinion is essential. The car is quite a handful with the system off. System is very subtle in operation. Launch Control is very effective but I still need to practise, as a little throttle modulation is still required to optimise launch. The video is basically me dumping the clutch and letting the traction control do all the work, which cut back engine power quite aggressively. Someone asked for a picture of the car with the ProRace3’s – your wish is my command! I love the car, I’ve even started taking it to work in lieu of my company car – for which the fuel is paid for! As my dear old northern granddad used to say, ‘You don’t get owt for nowt!’, it helps to remember this when on the forecourt of a Shell station filling it up with V Power (drive her hard and she turns into quite a drinker!)

Wheels are still on the floor at Stealth at the minute. Nice Gloss black 7x17 Et35. Will take some shots on Saturday. Wanted something subtle, light weight but strong. With with regards the video of Race Logic, I might be taking it for a shake down at Bruntingthorpe soon (I get access via my job), so will get someone to video a launch!

No, I'm not the first. A chap with a very clean MKIII Golf has had one already. I think I'm the first 'Stage 1+' though. I believe Vince has 4 more in the queue.

Boost pressure was 14psi, with Aquamist. Vince and I tried the Race logic when the car was in it's 'clutch running in' map state (so approx 200bhp) and it seemed to work a treat. Very unobtrusive, didn't know it was doing much...until we turned it off! I have gone for the Launch Control option as well. The first time we 'primed' the system and set the launch revs, we couldn't resist a giggle at the ferocious banging and firing coming from the exhaust, as the revs were capped at 4000rpm but unburnt fuel exploded through my turbo to keep it spinning - officer dibble would certainly want a word if he caught me using it in public - which he won't, cause I've got 425bhp! (only joking - play safe!) I'll give you all a full run down on Sunday, assumming I make it through the weekend!

I can hardly contain my excitment. Received a teasing mail from Vince yesterday, showing me the results of his mapping of my VR6 Turbo Stage 1 + (with Aquamist). Can't wait to collect it on Saturday!

Just a word of warning. Spoke to Phil from Body-Kit.co.uk regarding a dual dia. 52mm A pillar gauge pod for my car, he assured me via e-mail that the pod was trimmed ready to fit to a RHD Corrado VR6. When it arrived, on the strength of his mail, I didn't measure either hole as my gauges were delayed in transit from USA due to an 'Ash Cloud' and as my car was at Stealth having the turbo conversion, I didn't offer it up against the A pillar, I simply set about spraying it to match my interior colour. Anyway, once the AEM gauges arrived from USA, there was no way they were going to fit. I took the pod to work and measured each hole with a vernier. They were 49.9mm and 49.6mm respectively, so no 52mm gauge was going to fit in these! I took it to Stealth on one of my 'progress visits' and found that the 'pre-trimmed' edges in no way matched the A pillar form, in fact, both edges were different in profile!? I contacted Phil and complained, referred to the e-mail he had sent me confirming that they were a bespoke fitment for the Corrado and asked him for a partial refund, in light of the fact that I had to do so much 'work' to the item to make it fit. It is also worth mentioning that advertising something as one thing and it being another is actually contravening the 'Sales of Goods Act', as the goods were not as 'advertised'. Anyway, several e-mails and phone messages later I have had no reply. He obviously doesn't care. The part is made by RGM and Body-Kit.co.uk are just a trader of this part. I thought he might want to know about these issues and speak to RGM but it doesn't look like he cares once he has your money. So in summary, if you want to buy a universal gauge pod, for 49mm gauges from a company that doesn't care and you are handy with a Dremel, then I recommend this, if you want a pod that your gauges fit into and fits your car - I don't recommend this!

Cheers RSGNTX! Gave it a good polish before dropping it off with Vince. It's hard to describe how excited I am, frustrated as well, as the recent sunny weather has made me think of all that 'grip' that I'm missing out on! Mind you I'm still waiting on AFR & Boost gauges from AEM in the states, gauge pods and a nice shiny gloss black set of ProRace 3's! I heard from Vince today that gearbox rebuild and Quaife are now complete! Just a turbo, racelogic and fabricated exhaust to go!
-
I've gone for the racelogic and LSD option with my Stealth stage 1+, so once finished (hopefully May 1st!), I'll let you all know whether extra cash can buy extra grip in the wet!

Which lamin-x colour to match tinted light covers
Greg Kirby replied to ANDREW 30's topic in Exterior
Thought it might be helpful to anyone who wants to see what 'Subtle Tint' looks like! -
Oh dear, I've only got 312mm from a TT, looks like the hidden costs are no longer so hidden! Anybody got an Alcon set up? Doing some business with them at the minute, might see 'what they can do for me!'
-
Well, after the test drive, I've taken the plunge! Can't wait, my car's at Stealth now. My Stage II VF Charger is for sale on the forum to help fund this new turbo venture!

Yesterday Vince very kindly entrusted me with, for 1 hour, the keys to his VR6T. Now I’m lucky that my job occasionally involves driving some fast cars and this is not just a fast car by Corrado standards, it’s a fast car by any standards. It wasn’t just the power that impressed me, it was the polished, almost OE nature, with which it went about normal driving, idling, shuffling forward in traffic and managing the no doubt increased heat that is generated. That is quite an achievement for one man when you consider that OE’s have teams of engineers to develop and test every element of engine and power-train. So back to the power; the delivery is very smooth, boost builds to an epic rush. You are very aware of the turbo spooling, it makes its presence heard through the air vents and in a sense is almost a warning as to the impending acceleration. Now I did say that delivery is smooth but so high is the power and torque for such a light car that it’ll still spin third and I’m sure fourth (but I ran out of road and bottle!) – I think Vince’s suggestion of Race Logic traction control is worth serious consideration – if only to allow you to exploit the extra power more often. Part of my test drive involved the A46 round Coventry, a dual carriage way. I had to be careful applying the power on exiting its many roundabouts but it reminded me of those 80’S computer games that when you drove over the special areas, you were given a sudden burst of speed. It was almost as if the rest of the traffic was stationary! Then on to the M69 and this conversions other great trick, that is to say massive torque available in 5th gear at 80mph. Simply touching the throttle at this speed and you can either squirt passed slower traffic in the blink of an eye or keep your foot in and make like the Millennium Falcon going to warp speed. Awesome. Under full throttle it’s more vocal than my supercharged VR6 but at idle it’s very civilized, where as mine still has the whine of the supercharger. Vince is only running one silencer box and no Cat, so this, I’m sure, may explain the full throttle roar! In short, when I returned the keys to him, I was wearing a beaming smile and wanting to shake the hand of a VR6 genius! It felt very well engineered, incredibly fast, looked very neat in the engine bay and if my wife doesn’t mind, I’m going to have one too! :notworthy:
-
Oh Vince, what have you gone and done? I believe you'll be hearing from me soon. You remember the VF charger you've spent so long fine tuning for me, did you save the box, I'll need it when I sell it to help pay for a turbo! :D

I took my car on Bruntingthorpe for the first time in anger yesterday and thought I feedback on how my 'fast road' aftermarket suspension / brakes faired. In short, I'm still smiling now! I have Bilstein B8 Sprint mono-tube dampers, Eibach Pro-Kit, Frt/Rr Eibach ARB's, Frt 312mm brakes from an Audi TT with OE pads / discs. For a bumpy track like Bruntingthorpe, the Bilstein damping forces were very well matched to the Eibach spring rates, providing both compliance and control. If the track were a lot smoother, then I dare say I may have been left wanting for increased damping / spring rate, so if I get serious with track use, I may look for damping adjustable coilovers, that also allow me to chose springs of different rates from Eibach's race spring range. The brakes are probably one of the best mods I've (read Stealth) done to the car, way, way better than standard and I would say essential for sustained track use. I'm sure you've all read the review of the Corrado VR6 in the 'past masters' section back of various magazines, stating things like, 'One of the best front drive handling cars' etc.. but it was only on the track for the first time that I truly understood what they were talking about. So precise, so nimble, basically, it will be a long time before my amateurish driving is anyway near being held back by the Corrado. Stealth Racing have been brilliant, they have basically kept me going over the years with maintenance and mods, I might point out that my stage 2 VF charger and Aqua mist has been on my car for many years now and never missed a beat on road and now track - I know I'll never see VRT power levels but I'll also never feel a dynamically unsettling front wheel rush on the exit of corners as the boost comes on! While fitting a baffled R32 sump, Vince mentioned the Corrado's lift-off over steer ability for the tighter corners, now Bruntingthorpe doesn't have any truly tight corners but I thought I would artificially create one on the slalom of the short circuit and what do you know - pile in, lift off, dab brakes while turning in and gently around it comes, back on the power, back on line - great! I say this like I could do it every time - don't get me wrong I must have achieved it properly twice in an hour! I have to admit that on occation, I have been tempted to turn to the 'darkside', i.e. S14 or R33 GTR, but this has shown me that there is a whole new side to Corrado ownership that I have only just discovered. :salute:
