    roof strips

You could trim off the perished part and run a bead of black silicon down it as long as you're confident with a silicon gun?
  2. I had exactly the same problem with mine when I got it - worked intermittently. I think what's happening is that the mechanism has stiffened up/worn out with age and is putting too much stress on the motor, causing it to overheat. Anyway, i've now fitted a new motor and it works fine, but I'm not using the slide function till i've had chance to rebuild the mechanism as I think it'll just burn out the new motor too. Removing the mechanism is a rather time consuming job though as far as I know...there's loads of info on here if you do a search.
  3. I found Lancaster insurance to be MUCH cheaper than the rest - insured my VR as a classic with them. May be worth getting a quote from their website?
  4. Try Here: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 65&start=3
  5. When mine packed in I just went to Maplins - they do a 40A auto relay which works fine. Just take out your old one, go to the shop and check the terminal numbers match up with the new one.
  6. Oh but it did cost me about £100 but well worth it in my opinion - one of the best 'value' mods you can do - that and an uprated headlight loom...
  7. My standard wipers were po0 - cleaned the driver side but no cleaning on the passenger side. Fitted Lupos after the drivers side arm flew off on the M1 in the rain. They're fantastic - I can see and so can my passenger!!
  8. Fitted a new tensioner pulley bearing today - £7 quid ish for bearing and approx 3 hours careful work - the wikipedia instructions were spot on. Saved quite a few pounds thanks to the forum. So good to start the VR without that horrendous whining noise!

    clutch going?

I knew it was time for a clutch change when it started slipping when I gave it some in 4th. Not good if you're overtaking on the country roads. Also got the timing chains and tensioners done whilst the gearbox was dropped. Think the standard clutch is pretty good equipment.
  10. Hello all, I recently had the clutch and timing chains replaced on my 94 VR and was really pleased with the result on the day I got it back. This was until later that day when the lights started flickering off and on when on dipped beam. The lights then seemed to be ok for a few days albeit with the occasional flickering - then suddenly packed in, no dipped beam full stop. Now i've tried the fuses and bulbs and they're fine. Also put in a new headlight switch but found no joy. I'm now looking for any suggestions on what the problem might be. Could the guys who changed my clutch have dislodged something in the engine bay?

    Lost Wiper

Ok I think the bonnet thing sounds worse - absolutely zero visibility!! Lupo wipers - a present from god - meaning they work like proper wipers. In reality not from god at all - from the stealers, and not a present - 98 of my hard earned pounds!
  12. We have these oop north on the A628. They are really effective at keeping speeds down for obvious reasons. However, they take your average speed so i'm thinkin maybe you could really crawl for the first half of the distance, or even stop for a short break, then you'd be free to nail it for the rest of the distance. Average speed = distance/time taken and all that...it won't get you through any quicker but you could have more fun! Of course this is all theoretical...

    Lost Wiper

Yeah I know - luckily (?) it seemed to slide off the side of the window rather than flying over the top of the car so I think it landed in the central reserve. Anyway, problem solved by moving the passenger side wiper across to tide me over till I pick up my Lupo wipers (tomorrow morning hopefully).

    Lost Wiper

Lost the lot - it sheared off about 2 inches from the motor!

    Lost Wiper

Anyone ever unexpectedly lost a windscreen wiper? I lost one at about 85mph in the fast lane of the M1 in harsh rain. The arm just snapped off near the base and flew into the central reserve - sudden blindness! Took some work to get to the hard shoulder I can tell you!!! Anyway, have taken the opportunity to upgrade to lupo wipers...
