Yes, I actually had to tape it up on the drive down as the water and oil temp was too low. I wasnt really watching intake temps, just oil temp but it really does work well especially in the summer.

Thanks guys. I turned down the boost when the rain started and it helped a lot. You would be surprised the amount of grip that there was in the wet. Found another cracking photo. It was popping flames all day when lifting of the throttle. These things are built to be used, I dont see the point in having something like this and not using it properly. There was a guy on with a basically brand new 911 Turbo S. Wheels are from Compomotive direct and 5x100pcd.
  3. Hi, welcome. No planned meets in Scotland that I know of although there is talk of one this year as there are quite a few up here now. Where are you?
  4. What were the plugs like? Surely if the compression was shot due to bore scoring then oil should be passing into the combustion chamber and you would get oiled plugs or blue smoke from the exhaust or am I missing something.
  5. No way, was it using / blowing oil? Which 3cyl?

Found a few more good photos. Ive found one vid with me in but again very breifly as it was busy and the 4wd's were kickin ass. Nice pop of flame though!! I think its about 2min in.
  7. Just using it for what it was built for. Price is too much IMO.
  8. The reason I was thinking about a standard-ish example is so I can use the car more often, take it to work now and again and use it in and around town. The VRT is not really good at any of that. It wouldnt be a daily as I still have the Mk5 (at the moment) plus I did like Mk2 16v I had as you could drive it hard and not really be going that fast. Again the VRT is just so easy to get into triple figure speeds. Saying that it may be all change as I was just speaking to my brother, who has a large investment in my flat, and with a baby on the way he needs money so I may have to buy him out. The Mk5 and VRT might then have to go .
  9. Ah, early Mk3 Gti wheels. The wheels you at the moment are nicer IMO.
  10. That is what I was thinking might happen. So is it a bit boring jumping from the VR into the 16v?
  11. It is the one that was on here, yes.
  12. Ive been considering getting another Corrado recently as there are some real bargins on the go at the moment and initially was thinking of a 16v but there seems to be some real cheap VR's on the go. I know there are a few folk with VR's and 16V's or a couple of VR's so Im just wondering if its good to have a potential spares car i,e, 2 x VR's or 2 late or early spec cars OR is it better to have a contrast / choice between the VR and the 4cyl? Or should I just save myself the grief and money?

Well I had another track day yesterday. I fitted some Mintex 1144 pads and had 4 new Vredstein Ultrac Cento's on. The day started a little greasy and dried until halfway through then the heavens opened but it was still really good fun. Car ran perfectly and used next to no oil. Brakes were spot on and tyres were very good. Managed to empty a tank in about 70miles!!!! Some photos from the day.
  14. Do this next, should help with the idling and stalling issues. If it were me Id change out the lamda as well. Im assuming your using the mfa for the mpg reading so have you double checked it with your own calcs?
  15. Dont know anything about Astra's so cant really say, not even been in one for about 20years. As its only the 100tdi and has the black trim it will not have the same equipment as the GT Tdi's. For £5k you should be able to get a mint 130 Gttdi with low mileage. In fact there was a really good car advertised on Eastside recently 150Tdi in silver 5dr for about £4600 - http://www.eastsidevw.co.uk/Forum/viewt ... =10&t=4840
  16. Mk4's are great cars as daily's. The 150Tdi I had would easily do 50mpg and needed nothing doing to it. Ive had 3 or 4 of them now and they are well built but I woudlnt be paying that for the silver one. Thats way over price.
  17. cough - break - cough As much as I love these cars if its going to take the same amount of money to get yours in good shape as you would spend buying a decent one Id be breaking it unless the car had sentimental value to you. If you have a garage to do it in then all the better.
  18. 150miles today in the wet and they are very good. A lot more wet grip than the 452's.
  19. Im guessing A3 1.8T 5 spoke wheels.
  20. Doubt it will, its due to be pissing down again.
  21. Quick photo of the new Vred's. I hade the other two fitted today and plan to do a couple of hundred miles this weekend including a trackday so I will report back on how they are. They appear less streched than the 452's I took off and they have a very good rim protector on them. Thats on a 7.5in by the way.

Its a negative from Compo on the 15in. Apparently these are the options for 16in, The MO1675, offset of ET20 The MO1680, only clear at ET13 The MO1682, only clear at ET07. Think I'll stick with the TH2's for the moment although I have a guy with some 7.5x16in ET30 Borbet C's in brand new condition with almost new T1R's. Just need to make sure they clear the calipers.

Found some 15in PR3's albeit on a some french thing. Dont look too bad. Im assuming the strom wheels have the same inner wheel design? This is what happens when you take time of work and dont plan anything, bloody expensive ideas start coming into my head.

This is I can get Speedlines over the brakes apart from the last 20mm or so where it narrows in. I reckon changing down to a 288mm disc and changing the caliper bracket would work. Ive sent my dims to Compomotive to find out. Im also going to see about the Team Dynamics ProRace3's in 7x15in. Boost Monkey did you say you had a contact there? Would you be able to find out inner wheel dimensions?

Yeah guys I agree but at the end of the day the cosmetic part of the wheels has a lot of influence. Id love to run the Speedlines but alas they would only fit with minimum of 20mm spacers. The swept area of my pads does not use the whole 312mm disc so I reckon that I could go down to 288 or even 280 with the same calipers but I would need to watch for centre hub clearance then. I have been in contact with Compomotive to get a dimensional drawing of the 15in MO to see what would be required to fit. Whats the pad swept depth on 288 and 280 pads / discs?
