Sound perfect. Let me know.
-
Well my Mk2 16v I had tail end of last year was bought for £2100. Sold it for £2k with losts of interest. It felt bloody old though, a Corrado still feels relatively modern.
-
There fine if you dont like going round corners. Barge and understeer are the two words that spring to mind.

TBH I dont think there are any mint original cars left unless they have been locked away for a while. Even then they will be silly price. We just have to realise that they are all at least 14years old so they will never be perfect. I dont think they are going to get any cheaper so nows the time to buy IMO.

Anyone have a knackered drivers side foglight + surround for indicator to clip in that they want to get rid of?
-
Had one tonight. Couple walking past the garage and the guy asked if it was a show car as Im always working in it. He then asks if its a G60 which is what most people seem to ask. He said the usual "dont seem many about anymore, had a VR6 and loved it". When I told him about mine he just said "thats mad" and walked away laughing.

Ive have a 3.68FD in mine and the gearing chart for 6950rpm indicates 157mph in 5th. With 3.389FD (which I think is standard VR) its says 171mph.
-
No, dont ride on the road anymore. 1. After silly speeds like that, even though I bought a naked bike it would still do 150mph. 2. Too easy to get knocked off.
-
Well Ive done 180 on a bike before so a car is like scaffolding to me....all done in Germany of course.
-
I can confirm they are stable at those speeds. 165 on the clock and it felt no real difference to 80mph, just a little more wind noise.
-
For once I can say Ive got one up on him . That also looks like it has the airbag steering wheel. Question is what else is out there at that price? Im presuming aircon but then does the aircon of that age have the capability to cope with the heat.
-
Glovebox lid, like they used to do on Mk2 Golf 16v's.
-
Looks ok, is that cheap for out there? Looks American spec so its probably a 2.8l. Red is a great colour. Looks amazing when polished but seems to still look well when dirty as well. Satin silver used to be my favourite but Im slowly changing my mind.
-
Im ashamed to say I really like them with the Dimma kit. :help:
-
I see the rest of Europe thinks the same
-
I had thought about that but from the block I have is only 4kmiles old and from what I can see its less work with keeping everything in the car and I should be able to do it my garage.
-
Well Ive taken a chance on them. No markings on them, the guy took them off a VR6 NA motor build but they do look identical to the ones from Schimmel. The motor he was helping on, the guy had apparently bought some R32 pistons and had the block bored ot to suit without consulting anyone. Needless to say this didnt work.
-
Sounds like a good genuine car. Always good to know where its been and what its been up to. A bit like women.
-
Good to know. I wont be fitting them for a while, Im just going to wait and see if any deals come up on pistons. If I do sell the car before that I can always sell them on.
-
Im not really looking at more boost but it would be good to go forged internals for longevity / reliability. Peace of mind and all that.
-
Is there much advantage to running a 9:1 as opposed to 8.5:1? Ive managed to get some forged rods so looking at pistons now.
-
Was the Mk6 not brought in because the Mk5 was quite expensive to make so the margins are a lot better for the Mk6? I have to admit my Mk5 is by far the best all round car Ive had by a long way. Its just so competent at everything. Im not changing a thing on it. I had new wheels, suspension etc to go on but I just think putting them on will ruin its all round ability.
-
Your right, they havent. I agree that in performance terms they never really justify thier price but if paying a lot for a car you want it to be something your going to live with and love everyday. When I was looking at the Mk5 I also looked at Leon Cupra's as they had the better engine like the Ed30 but then I looked inside one and knew I could not buy one. The central dash is awful. Ive also read the Evo test and it would seem that what the Golf lacks in performance it make up on interior quality. Audi are getting away with the high pricing as they are now seem as a premium brand and I suppose VW are trading on that as well to a certian extent. Remember resale has a part to play as well, I wonder how much they are all worth in say 3 years time?
-
Some people dont want to drive about in a 5 year old car though. You cant just say there not worth £30K, you have take them in comparison with what other new cars cost. They may be slighty more but not a huge amount more. As for the bashing that the RS3 is getting, I bet you they completely sell out and in a few years time they will still be worth a lot. If you know someone is going to pay £45k for it then why not ask for that? They are all in it to make money after all.

Donjon's classic green storm. Return from yorkshire...

A lot of Bilstein dampers are like that. The R32 shocks are Bilstein and like that as well. Possibly H&R use Bilstein as a subcontractor for the shocks whilst the concetrate on the springs. Either way they are quality items so I woudlnt be worried.
