speedlines! do we all agree they are the best wheels?
til2143 replied to marmite monster's topic in General Car Chat
Speedlines are the only wheel, even trying to squeeze a set on to my 8v :D -
Well i thought it was about time for an update, i fitted the RCs for a few weeks, they looked well but i didnt like the handling of the car with them on so i sold them, the plan now is to convert the car to 5 stud and run it on speedlines which i love :) , so the car is on axle stands at the minute with the axle removed, ive blasted and painted the axle and fitted axle bushings today, ive also got spacers made up to space the rear axle out 13mm either side to have it the same as the VR one, ill get more pics up soon but here is a few Speedline trial fitted Axle painted (bad pic) Few bits painted Some rusty spots that i have to see to

If you want the factory rippley pitted finish, U-Pol Gravi Guard is excellent for that. You can also get some VAG Wurth stuff which is also pretty good. If you're not fussed about the ripple finish, then U-Pol 'Greystripe' Seam sealer is probably the closest you'll get to the original rubbery texture, but it's brush on. It can be 'dimpled' when half set though. Once the underseal is sealed with top coat and laquer, I would recommend a further 2 layers of black Gravi Guard for a neat, robust finish and I would strongly recommend doing the underside of the sills aswell where the paint gets abraded away by water and gravel. Avoid the temptation to apply it too thick because it will take eons to fully harden and if you jack the car up, it will just pull great chunks of your nice new sealant off  Great work as ever Kip :notworthy: I wish I had the facilities to do that! Cheers Kev

What sort of sealer did you use?

Cheers Mate, exactly what i wanted :salute:

Got mine too :D havent got to read it yet but it looks deadly, well done to all involved :salute:

Id love to know, id say theres only quarter of the 97k left na wouldnt have a good one at the minute, sorry mate  believe me if i had more room they would be kept :D Ya mostly, one had an engine fire and lots of crowbar damage :D and the scirocco was rotten with rust There was one good screen and i thought about cutting it out but i left it in the end  good plan, i might do the same :D  Ya its a petty surely, but i suppose the parts off them will help keep others on the road for longer :D You should Jim it would be cool to find out, i could try and see how many is over here in Ireland :D True :? Prices have really gone to the dogs these last few months, hope they pick up again

Hey lads, due to my sister getting married in a few weeks i was given an ultimatium to clear a few corrado shells from around my parents house, stripped them as much as i could witout going too mad as storage is an issue, anyway i took a few farewell pics :(

Had a wee problem with the 8v that i got sorted today  , it was a slight hesitation when giving it the rev after changing gear and was wrecking my head, i got a coil from GSF and fitted it and it sorted my problem :D , my old mk3 GTI used to do the same and i never figured it out, any 8v owners might know what im talking about!
