has anyone got an idea of how much i could get for a home rebuilt super charger? phil

i saw this evening a G60 in a trade ins bay at a VW garage. its in poor condition, broken fog lamp, very worn drivers seat, faded red etc. couldn't see how many miles it had done. not sure how old as there was also a personalised plate but it had the 2 slat grill and digital consol in the centre of the dash. i am planning on taking out the engine/gear box and dropping it into my c with my 16V head. would this be reasonably straight forward and how much should i pay for it, say with no mot? i'm going to go back tomorrow when its open to ask about it. cheers phil

do the 2.0l 16v blocks come in 1H format or is it just the G60/rallye blocks. if not what would it take to uprate them? would it be possible to fit a Supercharger to a 2.0l 16v engine? cheers phil

i fancy a project for the summer. I want a 2.0l G6016V, but not sure where to start. should i buy a G60, bore it out, (if it will take it) and replace the head with my current 16V head? second idea- buy a 2.0l 16V, uprate it (where necessary) and fit the charger or thirdly, stick with my current 1.8 16V, bore it out, uprate it and fit a charger. Quite a puzzle? any ideas will be much apreciated. i like a challenge! cheers phil

there was an article in performance VW, (90% sure it was this magazine) quite a while back, it had a photo step by step guide to refurbishing a supercharger. just had a rummage to try to find the mag but sods law i can't. you could try to get a back copy. i'll try to find it to get the issue number and date phil

interesting Chris, so it might be worth it for my 1.8 16V? especually if it will improve fuel comsumption.

sounds good but not quite clear, is it going to give me any advantages to my 1.8 16V? i've only had the head ported and polished and a home made cold air pipe fitted. phil

Anyone had any experience with water injection. Seems to be over looked as i haven't seen it mentioned in the fourm, (unless i've missed it). Pros and Cons??? is it pos with Cs? i think its about £300 from demon tweeks for the kit. phil

i'm still not clear, is it possible to get hold of variable intermitant wiper relays and swap for the one i currently have in my '90 16V?

i really should have read the problems page first! i'm sure that i have the same problem as Purple-rado! a little job for the weekend then!

i'm worried, there is a sort of ticking/light knocking rattle which has got worse recently. it is coming from whats seems to be the pulleys or from behind the pulleys. if i rev then it gets faster! it is most noticable on tick over. has anyone got any ideas. i really hope its not another expensive repair, i don't fancy another one of those! cheers for any suggestions phil

Whilst my C was off the road, for 6 weeks!!!!!!!!! (could only work on it some evenings and a 2 week holiday abroad) the temperature control slider for the blower must have siezed so on the car's maiden voyage after the work i tried moving it from cold to hot, but very stiff then suddenly gave way. now when its moved to the "hot end" it just springs back to cold. not very helpful now that winter is coming!! any ideas, i haven't taken it out yet to have a look. cheers phil

HEELPPPP corrado stalling at the startup!!! and on the road
philO replied to CorradoKid05's topic in Engine Bay
i had exactly the same problem with my old 1.3 mk2 golf and a while ago with my 1.8 16v C. the golf would do it every winter!! eventually found the carb was slightly loose and was sucking air in around the sides so tightened it and that seemed to help. it only lasted a few days in the c and completly disappeared! i hope it won't come back. phil -
Does anyone know what has happened to the Corrado Club's Web site? everytime i try to go to it i get back "page not found" or something similar!

i will probably get a full system as the back box has rusted off from the pipe leading to it and there is a hole the size of a 50p just behind the middle box, which i thick is also rusty! so can anyone recomend what to get and where is the best place to get it fitted in the East Dorset area? cheers
-
I'm not sure quite when it started but over the past few weeks when selecting 2nd gear there is a terrible sound of graunching! it doesn't happen when i push the gear stick as far left as possible or when let the stick find its own neutral position before going for 2nd. double de-clutching also cures it! it usually happens when pulling away faster than usual and when the revs are still high but on their way down, if you get what i mean! sometimes when it grinds it feels asthough the gear stick has gone between 2nd and 4th, but i might be mistaken. any help greatfully recieved before i do any more damage!!! the car has only done 94k and is a 1990 G cheers phil

i've another question on exhausts, can you have more bhp but without having a loud exhaust? i know that this may defeat the object of a large system but i'd prefer to hear the sweet note from the engine!!!! cheers phil
-
Hi there. i'm soon to get a new exhaust system on my 1.8 16v C. am planning on having twin upswept DTM tail pipes, but thats beside the point! i want a system that will give more BHP so will i need to replace the exhaust manifold or is the standard one just as adequate? cheers phil

when i bought my 1.8 16v it had on it a Jetex Response reusable air filter. does anyone know if this provides as good a performance as anyother performance filters on the market, eg K&N or pipercross? if not then which would be the best to purchase for increasing bhp? cheers
-
thanks for that, the reason the head is off is cos the gasket blew! if i was to get it gas flowed, how much bhp would i gain roughly and what would the cost be? phil
-
arr ha!! my 1990 1.8 16v does have a 42mm inlet manifold! are the holes in the head going to need enlarging as well? philo
-
i may be way off the mark here but is it possible to fit some sort of analogue 'boost style' guage for 1.8 16v? i only think this because of the MFA Intake Manifold Vacuum/Pressure reading which must have some sort of sensor. phil
