  1. Oh yay, that sounds like a happy thought..... I had it pressure tested not that long ago and the guys said it was ok and the CHG was definately ok, although my trust is waining somewhat at the mo. Car is away with them at the mo so I will have to wait and see what its like on its return. Thing is is the CHG had gone would I not be seeing steam out the exhaust, lose power and have the temp going nuts? Especially as the daily temp here sits around 42 degrees at the mo and 35 at night.
  2. To be fiar the mounts are a tad sha@@ed. They are on the list to do when G works get back to me about shockers. Going to get all the mounts and bushes done at the same time. Tighten her up so to speak. The same one went twice, well right next to each other (Top of Rad into the RHS of the block),however, the 3rd one was just a small blanking piece on the same hose set. Not sure what the take of that it was blocking was for. Either way its all a bit too coincidental. I wqasn't even giving it some when the last one went. Aux pump....... and where is this? Sorry - used to Pugs... So what does this do exactly? And if it wasn't what / why would this potentially cause my quandry?
  3. Does anyone have any ideas how I could manage to split 3 water hoses in as many weeks? Temps have been fine but I am wondering if anything could be blocked / seized / knackered that would resort in an increased pressure in the cooling system. Currently running two rads and all the cooling should have been (I was billed for it) changed recently - rad, thermostat, Temp sensor, water pump etc. Any ideas?
  4. Help! Just bought a Kenwood head unit and started to fit it but cannot work out what is what. Speakers were easily fixed as I just looked at the speakers end as I am replacing those aswell so all the door cards etc are off! Anyway the prob is the other block. I have :- Red & white Brown Grey & Blue Brown & Red Blue & White Obviously (correct if I am wrong) the Brown is the earth and I am thinking Red & white is the constant. But what are the other three?????? HELP!
  5. Cheers for the input guys. Tonight I was giving it some and it hit 128 but that was after a blast of 200kmph and in 41 degrees C. While during the day I was just cruising and it sits around 118 and that was in 47 degrees but it actually dropped while sat in traffic. If any of you guys wonder how hot that feels let me just say - lets just say fu*king hot, especially as today my AC decided to die........again! What a sweaty mess I was! Crusiing around with all the windows down and the sunroof open with my mush out the window. I think I have an oil cooler (car is new to me so would have to check) but next oil change (3000km) I will take you advise for the fully synthetic. Any prefered brands and grades I should aim for? One thing tho, as a previously devoted Pug Gti man I cannot say how much I am enjoying the Rado. Next on the list is coil overs, susp componants and some stealth cooling aids in the bumper. May have to lose the front fogs methinks.
  6. Noted I suppose. Anybody know of any places where I can get some decent susp parts at reasonable prices by mail order as over here there is pretty much no tuning shops and even the ones they do have are more beemer, 4x4 specific. Its so bad that I called VW to talk to them about my Rado g/box and it took me getting passed through two people and finally to the manager before anyone knew what a Corrado was! Think I must have one of the only ones in Dubai!
  7. Does anybody have any opinions on the coil over sets on ebay? Are they any good? Are they sh*t? I am looking at getting all the bushes etc done and some other susp parts but wondering what is best? Coilovers or just uprate the dampers. Not really that concerned with lowering it, although it would be nice to have the option especially when I change the wheels when I have worn out the eagles on my 15'' BBS'. Cheers Jamie
  8. Sorry if this is a common Q but I tried to search and couldn't find anything. Just got my Rado back after weeks in the garage. Had a second hand auto box (they all are over here) fitted and also all the cooling system done (rad, senders, thermo, water pump etc). Anyway she is a 1995 VR6 with 112,000 km on her but I am not sure if she is running too hot. Generally at sensible revs she sits at 116-122 degrees for the oil and about 90-100 degrees for the water. Does this sound reasonable? Outside temp at the mo ranges from 32 ish at night to 45ish during the day (degs C). So what I am looking for is what yours run at. Obv being in the UK where it is a tad cooler will help but any of you boys live in places with higher temps? Cheers Jam
  9. So does this sound like a common enough problem? I know it is hard to tell without looking etc but if I want it I will have to take it as seen with no comebacks and with the amazing condition that the car is in it would be a super waste to let it slide, however, obviously I don't want to be spending BIG bucks if I don't need to. To be honest I am pretty sure I will get it but I just want as much info as possible!
  10. Cheers man. Vagcom? Excuse my ignorance but I have been a Pug Gti boy for the last few years and am only now turning to the dark / light side (still to be decided)! I did take the dipstick out of the transmission and it looked ok. Nice and clean and covered the dipstick. Currently thinking that if I knocked him down I bit I will take it as to be fair other than two small scratches on the bonnet it is near show quality and then I can get a gearbox guy to look at it. Thankfully just won enough on the football to cover it! Happy days! Any comments ideas would still be greatly appreciated tho, however, I do understand that you are all manual box boys. Its a bugger out here as the manual versions are like rocking horse sh*t - not that common to say the least.
  11. Hello, I am a new member and looking to pick your brains! I am looking at a Corrado VR6 1994 with a genuine 60,000 km imported from Japan (as they all are over here in Dubai). The thing is soooooo clean it is unbelievable, absolutly untouched in everyway! I went over it with a fine tooth comb and it is genuine I am sure, however, I took it for a spin and it won't change out of 2nd (Auto Obv). It is a real shame as I really want it and I can get it for a sweet price (approx 11-12K AED - 1500-1650 quid) as they are pretty unwanted over here. I am wondering, it may have been standing a while so could this cause it to not want to change up? Is there andy common faults with the auto box. Any ideas? Gearbox work is relitively cheap over here due to labour being pretty much free so even a box swap could be worth it. What do you think? HELP!
