  1. Hello all, I'm only posting about this topic (I know there are others on it and have read them all) as I'm now out of ideas. I've managed to snap my bonnet cable 3 times now, two of those times were during an attempted repair - I give up on it. Can some please tell me how tight the cable should be against the trumpet with the bolt (see attachments). The drivers side trumpet and latch work fine and can see it moving, but the passenger side barely moves. I've tried to tighten it, but can just feel it in the handle that it will snap again. Does the cable and trumpet look as if they are setup correctly? Any guidance is much appreciated! Thanks, Luke.
  2. Hi easypops, Could I get another bonnet cable please? Thanks, Luke.
  3. easypops - you're a lifesaver mate! Part arrived today, looks spot on! Really appreciate the prompt delivery, you're a star.
  4. Yes please mate, mines snapped!
  5. Thanks for the reply mate, I'll take the same approach! :)
  6. Hello, I'm in the middle of replacing the rear suspension on my Corrado VR6 (1993). I made an attempt to build the shocks up today replacing the bump stops and bushes etc, I was then ready to fix the upper spring seat in place and feed the shock bar through it when I realised that the hole on the spring seat was too small. I had the original shocks on the car before which had thinner bars, has anyone else had this problem with Koni 8041 1108 and the original VR6 upper spring seats? Many thanks, Luke.
  7. Hi all, I've bought some Koni Sport Rear Dampers (8041-1108SPORT) and was wondering what springs are best to suit these on a Corrado VR6? I don't want it extremely low. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Luke.
  8. Thanks for the replies guys - been manic in work, going to retry suggestions this weekend. Will report back! :)
  9. Hi all, I know there are a lot of threads relating to the 'spongy pedal' issue, but I've tried my best to sort my issue out from these threads and have hit a wall. Here is my problem: - RHD Corrado VR6 (Teves 04) failed mot due to a bulging, front brake hose - Took car home and found the unions were corroded onto the brake hoses, so was forced to cut the hard lines and refit new ones (common problem on old cars) - This meant exposing the ABS module to air while replacing the lines (correct?) - I have replaced hard lines and hoses and refurbed the calipers and filled the system with new fluid and bled with an eezibleed kit - all calipers show clean fluid when bled, as does the ABS unit (two bleed nipples on top) and lastly the master cylinder, also checked for any leaks and there are none I've done all of the above twice now and the pedal is still spongy and under braking the ABS light comes on straight away, when starting the car the light goes out as expected and stays out until the pedal is firmly pressed which suggests to me that there is air in the system? Does this need to be bled in a different way from the eezibleed kit? Any advice/experiences would be greatly received! Cheers, Luke.
  10. The ABS pumps thread was cross-threaded, looked at the old union and it was knackered! Word of advice for people who don't know - but you can unscrew the ABS connections and replace with new ones if you experience this! Life saver. Cheers, Luke.
  11. Hi all, Had a very bad afternoon today of fitting new front brake lines, it seems the ABS pump just doesn't appear to thread the union of the brake line. I bought original VW lines and unions, so wrong fitment isn't an issue - I also tried re-fitting the old line and this didnt seem to go back on either. Has anyone experienced this?? Am I missing something? Any help is much appreciated! Cheers, Luke.
  12. Hi all, Been doing some work under the bonnet the last few days and have noticed a couple of wires and connections loose or not where they should be, can anyone shed any light on the following? This is taken from above the throttle body and towards the ground on the left had side: Taken by the raditor fan: This came out of the oil breather pipe which comes off the head, the photo shows where it came from: Any help or guidance is much appreciated! Cheers, Luke.
  13. Very interesting read ( specially the Corrado section :) ) Mot stats for 2007: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/opensecrets/ ... p_2007.xls Cheers, Luke.
  14. Hi all, I'm experiencing a grinding/rubbing noise coming from the passenger front wheel once the brakes have been used for about 10mins or so (depending how much braking has been done). If I go very slow on a quiet road I can hear the noise without braking and then if I slighly apply the brakes the noise gets louder. It sounds to me as if the pad or disc is expanding with the heat and causing them to rub?? Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? The pads and discs aren't that old and as I say, its only coming from the passenger front wheel. Any advice is greatly recieved. Cheers, Luke.

    Loose Dash

hi guys, I'm have a really annoying problem, of seems my dash is a bit loose which is causing it to squeak, it's got to the point where I'm not enjoying the drive because of it. It seems the car doesn't have it's orginal windscreen which might be a cause. If it grab the dash with two hands just above the clocks and shake it a bit I can feel a bit of give between it and the windscreen/body, is this normal? I'm basically after any advice/solution, is there a way to tighten the dash to stop this slight movement? Any help or guidance is much appriciated!
  16. Hi all, I need a new clutch kit fitted to my VR6 - in order to do this, does it involve removing the front subframe or partly removing it? I've been told the mounting bolts on mine have seized resulting in me needing a new one, does this make sense? Any help/guidance is much appreciated! Cheers, Luke.
  17. Hi guys, I've an issue with a squeak coming from the passenger front wheel, the squeak disappears as soon as I apply the brakes. I've recently had brand new pads and discs fitted at Stealth, just wondering if this is just a tempory issue while they bed in? Also, I've jacked the car up to take a closer look, while I manually spin both front wheels, the passenger side wheel seems a bit more difficult to turn and not as free flowing as the driver's side - I can't see anything which is obstructing things, is this something I should be worrying about or maybe related to the squeak? Any help is much appreciated! Cheers, Luke.
  18. It is mate, standing loud and proud :)
  19. Spot on! "VW Specialist" is an abused claim. I've been to so many of these so called specialists and they just don't have the passion or knowledge. I also loved the Corrado Forum note on Stealth's notice board, wanted to write something like "LukeManic waz ere" on it
  20. I just wanted to say how happy I was with Stealth's service on my Corrado today, went in with a problem that I've tried to sort out for a while and they sorted it for me within a couple of hours and gave me some top advice. I live in Cardiff and travelled up to Warwickshire so I could see if this hype of Stealth Racing has a meaning to it - it does :) Cheers!
