    VR6 Rebuild

In the next month or so my Corrado will coming off the road for a little over haul. One of the main features will be an engine rebuild. Now, I know one end of a spanner from the other, and I know my way around a car, but I've never done a complete engine rebuild before. So if anyone has any useful infomation, tips and tricks or do's and dont's feel free to stick them down here :D Wish me luck. TIA
  3. It use to be mine, then the Mrs had it when I got my Octavia vRS, but now I'm doing uber high milage I got a bargin Fabia TDi to run to work in, so the Mrs has the vRS and I get the Corrado back to play in at the weekend ;) Well spotted, wheels are from a Fabia vRS, which came as a free spare set with my Fabia, but I decided they would look better on the Corrado, and of course 312's fit :D
  4. Mrs Peppy's Corrado is now mine again :D So I spent the weekend replacing some worn out bits and bobs and fitting some new shoes :) Fairy dust sticker has gone to ;)
  5. Standard and original ? I don't think the exact figures mean much coming from different RR's but your peak torque is 1000 rpm higher then mine !? I was pretty happy given the age and condition.
  6. My Corrado has a cheapy ebay chip fitted, 135k on the clock (original engine) also has a miltec exhaust and cat. She made the following a few months ago.
  7. She wishes! I'm sure the day will come when I need a remap and new dampers though!
  8. Neg 2º Turns in a treat, and the tyres still wear evenly! The sticker is there so every time she wastes a chav they know they been beaten by a girl
  9. Looking good on the move :D
  10. Did you read the 'The Forced Induction 20V Thread ' ?
  11. And there's me missing it all on my Honeymoon! I'll get my ride soon enough :D
  12. Something like this? Red is the Corrado, Blue is the Skoda. Solid lines for BHP, dotted for ft lb.
  13. It's nice to know it's running right, and making around the power it should be.
  14. Went along to a Skoda rolling road meet at the weekend and SWMBO (who now has my corrado) came too. Corrado has almost 130k on the clock and burns a little oil. The only engine mod is the exhaust (Miltek). I was pretty impressed with the figures!
  15. The bearings are ok (badly worded MOT form), the column adjuster has a little play, so I am going to stick a solid column in. Just need to know what parts I need to buy?
  16. Ok, so after getting the car back and having a look, it's not the bearings it is the adjustable bit. So what parts do I need to put a solid column in? Is it just the shaft and tube? Does anyone have the part numbers of what I need?
  17. Just failed the MOT on a worn top bearing on the column.
  18. Has anyone replaced the steering column bearings?
  19. That makes a bit of a difference! For anyone thats interested Part number 021907601A
  20. Can anyone give me the part number for the Camshaft position sensor on the VR6? Or what VW might call it? Been speaking to VW and they don't have one listed for the VR6!? TIA
  21. Well, I've been having a poke about (as you do on dark wet nights) and swapped the 2 plugs over and let the engine run for a little while. It would seem I now have a multi speed fan! Having spoken to a friend whos had a couple of Corrados this is right, god only knows how it was working with them back to front. Thanks for the help.
  22. I've had a look but it looks like someones been here before and all the wires are together, anyone willing to have a look and see what colour wires go to what?
  23. The rad fans have always seemed to have worked fine (had the car over a year), and they seem to be working ok now I have the faulty intake temp sensor back in. How would I check that everything is connected as it should be?
