  1. The headlight switch is on the furthest point of the dash / closest to the door and has a GREEN light in the middle! How many more warnings do you need before getting out of a car?
  2. AFAIK, it's not a standard retro VW thing. None of my Mk2 Golfs or my Jetta had it and neither does my Corrado.
  3. Not sure why no-one mentioned this (or maybe I missed it) but the guy is clearly happy from using Haynes manuals as per his second post, so why not point him towards the Mk2 Golf Haynes? AFAIK, the suspension stuff is pretty damn similar? 22mm drop ring spanner will be equally as effective as a long reach 22mm socket by the way, unless you need a socket to attach a big breaker bar to get thr torque on it.
  4. I'm just being a tard! Nearside and Offside and easy enough to remember I reckon, I got confused cos the car was on it's roof when I took the horns off
  5. Wait a mo....that means my DASH GAUGE is dead?
  6. Sounds like swapping these sensors out would be good Wiki write-up material :salute:
  7. Awesome, cheers flusted. I just went out and earthed it with a screwdriver on the chassis and nothing's happening so I guess it is indeed dead! That means whatever is controlled by the blue/white wire is the 1 out of 3 sensor that's working! :pale:
  8. Love the manifold, does look right nice! Keep us updated, I've already seen these pictures
  9. Yeah, there are some good people on the bay for Autoglym. I used this guy recently. Got a litre of Car Shampoo, a litre of Wonder Wheels in spray bottle and litre of SRP for £18.99 with free delivery! Seems like they cost ~£10 each in those quantities, so much savings to be had. Biggest EGP I could find was only 500ml though, but I guess you use it more sparingly so it's ok.
  10. Cheers Neil! :salute: Well I know the coolant gauge doesn't work, and neither does the thermotime switch as that's the one sheared in the head :brickwall: might try the extractors on that tomorrow, so there must only be 1 of 3 sensors plugged in that's doing anything... anyone know which one actually works on by car then, by a process of elimination?!
  11. swapping the leads doesn't work, I remember trying that and even piggybacking leads off other sensors. But as you say there are 3 and they are all the same part# aswell, so I will try to swap some out of the spare head I have and see what happens. Would be nice to have a properly labelled up pic like that one above, but one that is actually accurate!
  12. btw, the needle on the dash has never ever moved... I would be surprised if the coolant is at a permanent 70 degrees!
  13. Hi team, trying to get my coolant guage on the dash to move from 70degrees for the first time in my ownership, and I found this on the Tex: Does anyone know if this is accurate? I don't think I have TWO of the larger sensors underneath the coolant flange, but I could be wrong. Can anyone confirm or deny it's the top right sensor I need to be swapping? I have a few spares still attached to my other cylinder head! Cheers, Jon.
  14. yes N/S, not O/S :brickwall:
  15. Laughed. Out loud. :D I do rip into it, but I like it too :study:
  16. IIRC, there were a set of horns underneath the O/S front wing from that 92 plate I cut up. There also seem to be horns behind the grille on my 90 plate. Perhaps Dec is right and grille horns are early, and wing horns are late?
  17.   Yeah I'll let you know when the leveller comes fow showww. Can you see I lowered the suspension too? I can fit it under that tree now. Still need to sort that wheel bearing, it gets real whiney around corners which is not so great. I have a spare hub but I wanna strip it and new bearing it...Need a job first though
  18. thanks. I don't really have any serious updates, but silly ones are plentiful  :salute:
  19. Ouch! You wish yours was this fresh. Check my personal number plate too. That's real.
  20. Awesome update rob, that map software looks like fun! keep the news coming, and more pics! :notworthy:
  21. Peace of mind I think Rob. Why do you think I had to get my 16v off the engine stand?! :cuckoo:
  22. yeah front mount can be down without an engine out.
  23. If it was being towed by that little blue car, then it's the driver's fault. You aren't supposed to tow something with a larger kerb weight than the towing vehicle. Hence using 4x4s or actual trucks / flatbeds.
  24. my money is on alignment. I changed the rack on my mk2 16v a couple of years back, and when driving to the alignment place it used to pull left like a mofo and sqeal tyres around slow corners!
  25. Yeah the windscreen along with the A-pillars account for approximately 30% of the chassis' strength. tbh, he would have had to flip that at _serious_ speed to do that damage, but then the rest of the car doesn't show the markings of a high-speed barrel roll. So I reckon it must be the trailer thing, too.
