The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
boost monkey replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
I hope you didn't get oil on the decking .. :) Shhhh! he might not have spotted it yet. God that was fun :D -
I would imagine HIDs draw a lot more power than normal bulbs don't they? I think you will indeed need to check your wiring, perhaps they can't deliver enough current or something. I think a start would be to take out the uprated standard headlight loom, then at least you can rule that out as an issue. :salute:

I'd put money on it being a late spec, and a previous owner once put a rear early badge on? Lot easier than swapping out interiors! That said, Mine's an H and has an all-black interior. Interesting...

Cheers dude! I'll be using Toad's Barn-style tool shed for some more tinkering then! :norty: :salute:
-
Yup, it sure is. It's basically abrasive paste with solvents in.

The cross member cups were waxoyled already, bushes just kept squirming around. Or are you just listing your required equipment and reasoning for a saturday night?
-
Does anyone know a good way of petting these in? I made the mistake of buying new VAG rubber bushes and they're so damn tight! Already soaked them in hot water, but still no luck. Any clues? Ta J-unit :salute:

Let me welcome you! :salute: and be the first to point you towards the search at the top right of your screen!

    :notworthy:  any pics of the new parts, or any in progress pics?

I would think perhaps investigating the fan motor next, or have we already done that? That is very odd that it's differing so much, there' can't be much piping between the head sensor and the rad switch I would have thought.

Front brake flexi hoses questions (SEARCHED!)
boost monkey replied to boost monkey's topic in Drivetrain
No probs! :salute: Eased the hoses off now, no probs. Looks like I just need a double ended male (Easy, dinkus) connector between the two, even if it's just some copper pipe with two ends on. -

um hijack?! Steve, found these hoses on teh bay. I emailed the guy and they're male one end and female the other. Plus if they're early spec they should be the right length? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170228823167 Picture shoes the male end, which would screw right into the caliper which sounds like it could be what I need. -

Cheers Steve, we got there in the end! :salute: Yeah IIRC, the 16v ones are the same as that, but I still haven't had mine up in the air or the wheels off! Stupid gravel driveway :brickwall: -

YESSSSS, THAT IS THE LITTLE PIPEY BIT! God I was going mental trying to describe that! So what brakes are those hoses from? I need those for sure. -

 no it's not my pic. I'm not gonna bother elaborating until I get some pics! But they are DEFFF VR6 calipers. You were stood there with Toad taking them off his N reg VR6! -

I'm not sure but I think you might be thinking mine have a small amount of twisty copper pipe coming off them? This isn't what I mean by the metal pipe! Mine don't have these tiny bits of copper pipe on (I know the pic is crap) It has what looks like a long bleed nipple on it, prob 1" length ish. I don't have a camera atm which is really not helping this explanation! -

Steve, I'm confused. Calipers are VR6 (off Toad's car, he took them off the day of the BBQ if you remember?) from an N plate so late spec (although all VRs are late spec anyway?) Car is early spec, 1990 16v as per my sig. Those hoses I have are Golf mk2 16v / Corrado so are obviously early spec ones. So basically I need to keep the metal bits on the caliper, try to wrestle the old corroded hoses off them and attach the new hoses? I'd really rather replace the metal bits on the caliper, but if this means buying new hoses then I guess I have no choice. -
So yeah, those hoses will be going up for sale soon! :? Bought some more VW bits today, I now have all the fixings I need to attach the new subframe to the car. I'm hoping all the old fixings come off ok? Also bought 4 new rubbers for the cross-member, which still needs its brackets painting I just remembered! Ah well, that's not a massive issue. Can't really do much more until I get paid from working which starts next week, and first paycheque will have to go on rent so maybe no more parts for a while... :brickwall:

Well I pretty much watched them being taken off the VR a couple of weeks back, but I hear what you're saying. -

Not to hand, I'll try to sort one out this weekend. The hose looks like a normal hose with a thin metal tube on the caliper end, which is still screwed in to the caliper body. -

VR hoses are massively too long my friend. I think late spec G60s will be female fit for the hard line and male fit for the caliper which would be correct :salute: -

ok, so it looks like I need some late spec G60 hoses! Man, hybrid builds are complicated sometimes...
