Corrado overheating - everyone gone to a show and left me!!
Lorns replied to Lorns's topic in Engine Bay
Thanks mate - I can see me scolding my hands and all sorts at this rate. This is my second corrado with overheating problems. is it common - or is it just my bad luck? -
I have an M reg 2.0 16v Corrado that is overheating. In June it had a new thermostat, since then it has always got too hot for my liking but hadn't overheated. Thursday night the top radiator hose blew a hole. That was because the fan seized whilst I was in traffic and I'm assuming the pressure got too much and blew a hole. I have a new hose and new fan and motor fitted yesterday. Fan kicks in at about 90c. Thermostat is working cos the bottom hose is hot and letting the water through etc but yesterday it overheated twice. I was up this morning at half 7 trying it again before Players but no joy. Do you think there could be an air lock? I ran it til it reched temperature with the cap off to see if it wouldnt sort itselfbut it overheated again. Someone told me to release the valve next to the radiator and if there is an air lock, then the air should come out of there. Last I did with the car is took it out a moment a go and the fan was kicking in like normal, water temp was showing 90-100 and oil temp went up to 104.The water light didnt start flashing but its too hot for me to see if its kept its water or not. Another thing is, when its overheated the water spilling out the header STINKS of fish..... is this water mixing with oil?? Have a got a possible head gasket problem? I hope someone can help cos all the lads have p!ssed off to the show and left me completely on my own with a broken down car :( Thanks in advance Lorns

It's got 10mm spacers on already all round but un til I get the arches rolled, it'll have to stay looking skinny. Alo0t of people have said what you have.... it looks nice but i wouldnt have them. When i first picked uop the wheels it was at UD in March and everyione i was with was being polite and saying 'they're cool' bbut then only admitted once I got em on, how they originally didhnt like em, b ut now they're on the car they love em :D
-
Thanks. They're Boyd Coddington wheels. Yer, thats a bit of a downside... they're not directional... but it makes it different. I posted this thread because I am genuinely interested in other C owners opinions, I know it's not the usual phat and low.. althought I am gonna get my arches rolled a bit so I can get it lower.. then get a smaller front splitter.. The pug has Starmags on... they're stunning wheels :) Thanks people..

That's a pic from GTI Spring fest (thanks to whoever took that). Here are a few pics of mine and Adam's Pug 106 from Big Bang a few weeks ago.. Hope you like! 8) Comments welcome...

in a moden car the gearbox will not break the fire wall !! and the pedal box in new cars breaks away to protect your feet and legs. if you were in another car of that year then yes you would be worse off !!! thats for sure... but cars are alot more safer now compeared to a corrado ! PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0XPbydQPIo That's what I'm saying - if I was in my mk3 polo or similar car, having an accident like that with a combined speed of 80mph, it would have been ALOT worse, so I thank god for the Corrado..

Mk3 polo GT conversion - Turquoise poly Corrado 1.8 16v Thats it.. 8)

Not a very good pic, but this is the Corrado that saved my life back in 2004. Hit a taxi head on at 60mph - tax was turning right, across our lane, facing us, doing about 20mph. I was in the passenger seat and took the brunt of it as the driver was trying to steer round the car, the angle of the car meant the passenger side hit first. Although I ended up with a broken collar bone, that peirced and punctured my lung, internal bleeding, and crunched up foot (gearbox came through the footwell) I was alive!! Any other car and I'd be a dead person So yer, if I crash in me rado... I do feel safe in the knowledge that it can take a good old shunt!

Lorns replied to Lorns's topic in General Car Chat
Quick update: Finally got the cheque about a week and a bit ago.. The car has been prepped and ready for paint at Steve Dentons :) Having a few bits and bobs done here and there, but whilst it's been in there I've managed to buy me a set of rare ass wheels and treating myself to come coilies in the new year for my bday :D @ mk3 yeti - Yes I did used to have a turquoise greeny mk3, black bonnet, slammed on Mattig steels - miss that car!!! In the new year I'm gonna try and get our lot going up there again (NN Dubz) - just case of organising it :) -
Hahaha!!! That's the best one I've heard yet..
-
    Never seen this thread before, saw the first post when it was standard, flicked to the last page and was greeted by the meanest looking rado ive seen in a long time!! Well done, thats stunning!!

Lady hit my Corrado this morning! UPDATE: In paint
Lorns replied to Lorns's topic in General Car Chat
Well, it's now running sweet as a nut thanks to Premier.. Got a written quote from them so gonna get things moving before it rusts to peices.. I think I'm gonna leave it with premier cos I like Bill and Dave, they sorted me out with me car! wink wink (the engine problems i mean) so I'm sure they'll do a good job, plus I had a nose around and they have some pretty little motors in there right now! -
Lady hit my Corrado this morning! UPDATE: In paint
Lorns replied to Lorns's topic in General Car Chat
The bloke quoting me didnt include VAT and labour i dont think. It's currently sitting in Premier Power in Northampton gettin fixed (engine probs) and they'll leave me a written quote in the car for the damage. I'll make sure its a proper job though. Wangled in a few rust patches to get sorted too. It's gonna look the titties once done. No the door isnt dented although the paint is chipped. It's just one thing after another I tell ya! - ben - thanks alot i'll be sure to come on here all the time asking for advice! -

Lady hit my Corrado this morning! UPDATE: In paint
Lorns replied to Lorns's topic in General Car Chat
I'd quite like a gun, any sort of gun, mounted on my dash so I could just blast em off the road. I drive alot, and do quite a few hundred miles and I used to have patience but now I hate driving round towns because I can't stand the way people drive. Although I do love motorway driving because although there are a few idiots holding up lanes, you can usually just overtake and get on with your life :D -

The whole front end was resprayed before I bought the car and the grille was sprayed and a badge stuck on. The grille is going though and the rear badges :? I got her details - cant believe she tried to blame me though as if I should have given way to her!? -
Hello all, I am new to this forum but have been browsing for a while. I recently (about a mont ago) bought a dark bungandy pearl 16v corrado. Completely standard and I love it! It has numerous problems - doesnt start when warm/makes a loud whining noise when over 40mph ish/ tracking off etc etc - but I still love it!! Anyways, I'm driving to work this morning going through a tight road with cars parked either side when all of a sudden a woman turning right, out of a junction (into my lane) pulls out and hits from my drivers door right down to the back lights. She has caved in my entire rear arch, managed to scuff my bumper and dented the whole rear quarter really badly. She was driving a Corsa C, she had a little scratch on the bumper but nothing more. She hit my car so hard that it went from being in this position ----- I ------ to being in this position ------- / -------- facing the oncoming traffic. I got out after parking up, in a right state because this car is my pride and joy, and she says.... wait for it, wait for it - - 'Didn't you bloody see me!?' I then replied with 'last time i heard, someone turning left or right from a minor road onto a major road HAS to give way to oncoming traffic travlleing down the main road, so I shouldn't have had to see her. The fact that she saw the whole front end of my car (and rados aren't small!!) clearly means she saw me just didnt stop! Anyway here are some pics of the damage - I have been to a body shop and they have quoted me £250 to repair it (through her insurance of course) :( This is what it looks like - Thats a photoshop, but its standard and not dropped.... yet

Mine turned up yesterday! Only took a day to arrive and its wicked!! I dont want to put it on my keys thought cos I dont want to wreck it :D

Just to let you all know my mate came and looked at my car and he adjusted the throttle cable (cos its stretched and I only seemed to have half a throttle!) that makes the car go a lot better (I was wondering why it seemed really slow) and he said that I should give it a good service and then get it set up (timing?) and it should run fine.. It is running alot better now anyway :) Thanks alot for all of your help...no doubt I'll be back for more!
