I know exactly how you feel skinnyman i've just bought a bora cos i'm just sick of the C breaking down, only question is do i keep it for fun or sell it on? -

As a fellow newbie i've found that going onto the knowledge base and searching the forum is a brilliant way of finding info, technical and non technical. There are many rado experts on here that have done everything you can imagine.

From what i've heard the rozzer's have been specifically told to clamp down on this sort of thing. Be warned people.
-
I must be wrong then cos the one on the car is definately metal.
-
i think its number12

I came to my rado today to discover a large pool of hydraulic fluid underneath. I have found its coming from a short metal pipe that runs from the box to the steering cylinder thats rusted through. Does anyone know where i can get a replacement?

WEIRDO!!!!!!!!!

so you think i will b able to leave it as it is when i put the new matrix in?

Hi folks i've just dropped a replacement engine into my 1.8 valver, it is a like for like swap for another kr. Problem is i've come to connect the wiring back up on the new engine and my memory has gone blank as to where all the wires go as i thought this would be pretty self explanatory. I have connected up most but i have a few wires left that i can't place. Does anyone have any detailed pictures of there engine that i can use for reference, i've tried wiring diagrams but the ones i have don't help much. Need to get my C back on the road so any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Russ.

I blame my parents for this bottomless pit of a car. My mum had several mk2 golf gti's and a 2.0 litre corrado, as soon as i sat in it i knew i had to have one. Absolutely love it and its everything i hoped it would be tbh, both my parents have a lot of respect for corrados so no probs from them. Its the wife thats expecting our 2nd child that needs persuading lol. :D

I'm looking for a bit of advice. I have a 90 1.8 valver and the head gasket recently went, i have swapped the engine for a younger one so happy days. However, at the same time the heater matrix blew (hot water in the drivers footwell). After looking through some old threads for the car b4 i had it i have found that a dangerous mod has been done involving the bypass valve not being replaced and instead bodged with two short lengths of 22mm copper pipe. Is it this mod that has blown the matrix? Cheers, Russ.

My plate is H*** VWY and i was toying with the idea of spacing it so the Y was away from the VW but i hear the old bill are being a bit arsey about things like that.

Got my license in 2003 and since then: 1985 Blue Mk2 Golf 1.3 1989 White Mk2 Golf 1.3 1994 Blue Fiat Punto 1.6ELX 1990 Grey Mk2 Golf GTi 8v 1989 White Mk2 Golf (again) 1991 Red Mk2 Golf GTi 1998 Red Mk3 1.4 (Horrible!!!!!!) 1992 Blue BMW 318i 1995 Red Audi A4 1.8SE 1990 Burgundy Pearl Corrado Valver (love it!!!!!!!!) Another change soon if the missus gets her way, someone tell me positive stories about corrados and having two kids. :D

Yeah i think your right Andy, but one of the best things abut owning not only a vw but especially a corrado is the community that comes with it, the amount of superb people you meet that bend over backwards to help you out is what its all about. When you come across a pr##k thats just trying to take the p#ss out of that enthusiasm and make as much money as he can ripping people off its a bit s##t in my imo. Rant over. Ill put my soapbox away now. :)

This guy is a grade A t##t in my opinion, i only live 45 mins away from him and rang him to view a couple of C's that he had. I've never dealt with a dealer with such a bad attitude it was like i was putting him out just ringing him and he had no intention whatsoever of actually letting me see the cars. As much as i wanted a good C i'm not tolerating idiots like him so i was patient and got a good one off here. STEER CLEAR.

Well it sounds like you know what your talking about white so on your advice i'll persue it mate. The only problem being, as usual lately the C is off the road and the missus is whingeing that we should ge something more reliable. Time is running out........................Help!!!!!!!!

Dec: ta for the advice mate much appreciated R4: keep me informed mate i might just be interested :D

The head gasket has gone on my 1.8 valver :( and with it having 185k on the clock and burning a bit of oil i have decided to get a replacement engine. 1. Whats the easiest way to get the current lump out? 2. What engine considering i'm on a budget. Am i best just swapping like for like? Cheers, Russ.

thats what i feared, i gather its a crap job

Driving back from the supermarket today there was a sudden and loud bang followed by a spraying of water into the footwell and the car filling with steam. Scared the s##t out of me  and i had my lad in the car so not good. Once everything had cooled down i managed to get it home but by the time i did there was steam coming out of the dash. I didn't have the heaters on at any point but i did disconnect the heating system yesterday to sort an oil leak from the oil cooler, have i connected something up wrong? I've looked throught the knowledge base and there are a few similar problems but not exactly like mine. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Russ.
