  1. Thats what I'm worried about....It's F***KED up when you have to worry about your wheels. Think I may go and remove all my trim now! :o/
  2. Some thieving scum bag has nicked my door/wing mirror glass, in my opinion its most likely been stolen and not hit by another car or fallen out etc, I tuck the mirrors in every night when I put her to bed and it was there last night but not this morning. My question is, is the door/wing mirror glass Corrado specific or would it fit other VW's?? It could be vandalism or high jinks I suppose but care was taken to remove the glass with no damage or excess force...they wanted the mirror intact! Could there be another explanation??
  3. I'm having the same problem! I just asked if the Irwin bolt extractor set grips cap heads on another post....if not then Facom do a 16mm external excentric gripper that grabs on to round. Iv'e used other size grippers through work and they do the job, maybe I'll have to invest.

    Help.

Do they grip cap heads? I tried to remove my rear brake carriers the other day and couldn't remove the two M8 cap heas even with a 200 nm wrench! The internal of the allen head was starting to round so called it a day. Facom do an excentric external gripper but its uber expensive for a one off gripper....so if the irwin set will grip round heads then I may invest.
  5. Well after having the Hicon TX's on the car for a few days I have to say I'm very happy with the ride! I've got the damping on the lowest setting and the car handles like it's on rails and not harsh at all so all in all I can recommend them. I should say that I also installed poly bushes all round, replace tie rod ends, ball joints, poly ARB bushes and ARB links which also might of helped  My only initial criticism would be the plastic/metal insert - bottom adjuster/lock ring, it looks a little under engineered for the job. It's not really a locking ring as it grips the strut with nothing more than an M3 grub screw to lock out adjustment which you torque to 2-5 nm...hummmmm time will tell.....
  6. Here are my babies, and really looking for something air cooled again now! The MK1 is a project I've just finished restoring. 680 miles on the clock so nearly run in :D
  7. Hi there, I had exactly the same problem as you a few weeks ago (and still do)! I changed the bushes myself for QEM one purchased through GSF. It is a fairly big jod to do yourself but can be done. IAfter strugling to get the bushes out I built a puller/pusher and have the new ones in but still have the same-ish problem. The bushes were knackerd and changing them did improve things a little but I would suggest checking your shocks first before doing the bushes as this was most of my problem! As for the bias valve please get the captive nuts cherry red with oxy-acetelyne before trying to remove the retaing cap head or it will only end in disater!!
  8. Hi there, Does the ABS actually kick in? As for air locks if you can push the peddle right to the floor I would try bleeding the master cylinder and the two ABS pump nipples. I managed to totaly drain all my fluid the othe week and strugled to get brakes until I had done the bleed nipples stated above.
  9. I'm not sure if they are avalible off the shelf as a polyethelene bushe but I have turned up some UHWMPE bushes to replace the rubber bush in the ARB link arm to stiffen things up a little!? They are super rigid and UHWMPE has excelent ware properties so should help things along :D
  10. Well the deed is done I have a set on the way. I'll post my opinion once I have given them a try but that may be a while as I am changing every bush on car/ links/ ball joints/ tie rods/ cv boots etc etc whilst she is stripped down....
  11. Hi there, Cheers for the replies. Think I will be ordering a set of them tomorrow :D Cheers
  12. Hi there, You're right it's not an easy job but just for anyone who
  13. Bump! Anyone done the ARB bush change in situ on the car as i really want to get stuck in to it tomorrow :? cheers....
  14. So my rear shocks have had it, I origanaly assumed it was the rear axle mounts but having replaced them the car is still gittery around bumpy corners! Mind you I now have a really cool little puller/jig I fabricated at work which I will hopefully never need again... Anyhow back to my question does anyone have any preferences or thoughts about which kit to go for? I'm not looking for anything too hard as I have a very bumpy MK1 that rattles my teeth so dont want to go down that route!! Coilovers v shocks and sports springs....gt, tx, gtn, txn? I was thinking about the either the hicon gt or tx...anyone got them and what do you think of the ride?
  15. So am I right in thinking that you have to losen/completely unbolt the two engine mounts and steering rack? It's what I thought when I was under the motor today but find it hard to believe you have to go through all that to replace two bushes!
