  1. I found the culprit. It was a hose half off on the engine :D sound as a pound, not that its my car anymore now  funny enough the buyer is on here too :)
  2. hmm,ive undone the nut on the throtle stop but i cant seem to thread it up as theres no way to grip the little bugger??? any help??
  3. Ok,cheers, yeah i hoped that being a VR6 enthusiast he would understand. Shame its pissing down though. Test drive will be one long wheelspin
  4. Hi guys. Although i fear there are many reasons for this to happen im in a bit of a predicament. I have someone coming all the way from london today to buy the VR6 and 2 days ago it decided to stop idling around 70% of the time when i clutch in at say roundabout or junctions. Naturally this wont look good on a test drive :( This guy i suspect is a member here anyway as he said hed had VR6's before, anyway. The weather is crap and i ahve no garage,so,will i get any chance of a miracle if i simply reset the ECU(disconnect battery) nd let the old girl learn again.? Or is the only "quick" fix to tighten the throttle cable a little, yee haw thanks in advance of all your help as this will probs be my last ever post here anyway :)

    water leak

Since im selling my car it's decided to go wrong for me  Basically i noticed my water level had dropped to just below the min line on the expansion tank. Then i noticed that there are no leaks untill i turn the engine off :? Then it leaks about half a pint of coolant and stops. Does this everytime without fail,am i right in thinking this means i need a new water pump? As the leak is directly below where the belts for PAS etc are. Any idea what a garage charges for a water pump if that what the problem is? Oh,and the problem seems directly linked to how long you drive. I.E. i drove about 100 miles friday and the leak was about a half a pint after i turned the key yet after a short say 10 mile drive its a thimble full :? weird
  7. noted, its just a cold air feed to a cone now. just to be safe. be interesting to see my AFR graph from the rollers on saturday
  8. yeah,i have mate, although its weird, somtimes it seems so much faster than others, weird. Going on alan jefferies rolling road saturday anyway 8)
  9. perhaps, but then the filter inside is as big as the cone filter that as on the car before, just it had rusted out (green cotton) so though id better change it. might take the front off the carbon intake and give the car more scope to draw in what it wants. FWIW car has better throttle response since fitting this filter, used to bog down a little at WOT in low revs
  10. Kinda committed myself after i cut the hole ion the bumper
  11. yeah, thats why i think i'll stick with that, cold air pipe about 3 inches away from the filter opening. Correct that its not for a corrado too,its generic, but i cant stomach paying £££'s just for a name, well, not for an air filter anyway
  12. noticed something i cant quite believe with this type of kit. with the cold air hose fixed to the filter it goes fine. Take it off and leave it about 2" in front of the filter and it goes a lot better  WTF is that about,it literally pulls a lot better in first and second gear in this setup. Air starvation with the hose connected???
  13. Well, would just like to say thanks for the hoards of old posts which helped me in routing my cold air feed by re situating the charcoal filter :) Took a while to get the hose right in the bumper lip but got there in the end! cheers
  14. Very nice car mate, like the pictures too, although i have to say, shocking exhaust  Is that what a stock pipe looks like :?
  15. yeah, funny enough i had a rattle under the car and it was the heatshield on the cat,it had snapped off two of the welds, cant get the bugger off yet as two bolts nearest the manifold are proper shagged, gonna dremmel them off tomorrow now. i measure mine whilst under the car and got 76cm too :)
  16. He heard,i heard,we heard i get that, but i think some people are ignorant to a point that if something doesnt see a 10 Brake horse power gain it is deemed pointless. I personally find it almost impossible to believe supersprint make an item (well 4 actually) that does absoloutely nothing! Id have thought on such a big engine the decat would make a better improvement than on most engines :? Ok,so the VR apparently has a fairly hi flow cat(which alone suggests more flow is better...),but still not as hi flow as a straight through pipe! Plenty of people on here seem willing to heat wrap their manifolds to gain an immeasurable amount of power! But then to be fair i am of the disposition if i could gain 0.01 BHP by spending an hour polishing my throttle body then I'd do it as its free  Hmmm, well, aside from whether its even worth it.......which one of these useless de cats actually fits a VR6
  17. Is that RR proven? Only i was under the impression less backpressure actually made more BHP but loses Torque :? Has worked on every other car ive owned....
  18. ok,ive searched for an hour and got no definative answer on this. I want a SuperSprint De Cat but they list 4 different length ones for a VR6. So which is it for an L reg VR6 with a cat??? 51 CM 66 CM 76 CM And whatever this one is,no length given but 55mm inlet why so many options for a simple de cat  :lol:Sorry if this is well covered already but i honestly couldnt get the hard evidence so suggest what is what. Is it US and UK spec differences? Or does it just slide in further when its longer,no pun intended
  19. you just hit the nail on the head! As a point of interest and to go back to the original point of this thread the car has been fine since filling up the tank with a whopping £75
  20. To be fair i did have a B&M short shifter and stabalizer kit on the rex,so it was seriously close gear changes but i liked it that way. Yeah the power to weight ratio's are very similar but the VR has about an extra 60 ft/lb's of torque so should be faster i thought, but as mentioned,a totally different power delivery all together, vtec engines are high revving beasties whereas these cars seem a to have a good pwer range. You could probably lose a lot of the weight on a corrado though with CF panels but then you have to weigh up safety with performance and whether to just buy a lotus elise instead  EDIT,My crx made 120 ft/lb's at 8200  ~Here was the old girl crx power run
  21. Hahaha, thats good to know then,pn the whole it seems like a good car,i like the dimmable speedo cluster, thats a nice touch, door handles are a little cack but then it is an old car i guess, gotta love the spoiler though
  22. hmm,so best be is to get a carcoon and sell it on in 20 years,if theres anything left of it  Yeah,i guess the only way to get good money is to have a total minter,as in perfect car, that way you wil tend to get what its worth. I guess corrado's with 100K+ miles and a few dinks and scratches here and there are the norm, hence poor prices. It doesnt seem that long ago they were up around £4k
  23. yeah,i see it needs to stay well above 4K to keep its pep going, dont get me wrong,it seems like a good car, with great performance, but just not the rocket i expected for some reason,im sure its the weight, lighter cars always seem faster at least. Also i detest the gear stick design, its like waving a stick in badger hole  Anyway, better stop slating the old girl before i get banned
  24. Hey there, just been looking at the fore sale adds and cant help wondering why corrado prices vary so much between seemingly similar cars. I know mileage and condition are a factor but some seem to be around £4000 while others are £1800  When i bought mine a few weeks back it was a gun metal VR6 on an L plate with 104K brand new engine at 100K all original everything worked bar Central Locking and immaculate bar 2 rust spot about the size of a 5p Now i thought i got a bargain at £2100 but now im thinking perhaps not? I guess you need to have a Storm to sort of command the market as they are the daddies?
  25. hmm,got a full tank in there now and all seems well, still idles a tad low but no stalling lately so i guess i'll just give it some time to see what happens. Have to be honest though, although its quick i expected a 2.9 to be a lot faster! I guess its because its so heavy to be fair, specs show these car have lots of torque not so much bhp,so may get a caravan
