  1. right, have got power at the plug but for some unholy reason the switch does nothing, there is however power at the circuit board. does this look normal or have i destroyed the circuitry with wet and dry
  2. took my mirror switch apart after searching through old posts, the circuit board with the copper/brass on it was green so i cleaned it all right up,i mean shiny clean,i also cleaned the faces of the little double balled pin things! Put it all back in exactly as it came out and just got smoke and no mirrors, quickly unplugged it again but i cant see why that happened?! Also there appears to be no reference to the mirrors on the fuse board :? HELP lol
  3. Yeah but i cant use that to tax it online as the document reference relates to the previous owner, hence my tax disc would be sent to them! or not at all!! Cant do it in the post office either as the mot certificate is in the post along with my bill for the full service it just had :? Sucks huh. On the bright side it gives me a massive incentive to give the old girl a total sort out and clean off any rust underneath and get it all painted and undersealed ready for christmas!!
  4. Yeah, well its all up to the postman, ive had nothing all week and we sent the V5 off the same day i bought the car, over 2 weeks ago now :( Spose i should just be happy it passed the MOT so easily really, gonna fix my intermittant stalling when i clutch at junctions by slightly tightening the throttle cable, ghetto yes but i hate cars that stall on you  With any luck next weekend i reckon mate 8)
  5. insurance scammed me basically! so ill get one in a couple years now
  6. dunno, gun metal i think! Came with the exhaust so cant really do a lot about that yet! sounds very loud though!lots of popping! Yeah it was in storage and only has 98K on it with 5 K on the engine, passed MOT yesterday needing only a brake hose!! Overall its very clean, apart from 2 10p size bits of rust on the back by the VR6 badge and on the rear arch. Gonna get them both sorted ASAP though as the car deserves that much! Yeah mate i know Alex quite well, did quite a few favours for each other when we had our crx's!! Really mad at the moment.V5 is lost in the shambles that is our postal service as is my MOT certificate so i cant tax it :( Dying to drive it properly!Still, gives me time to sort some things out, like solder in new LED's for switches that have lost illumination and other meanial things like that :)
  7. haha, cant insure an nsx just yet, nah, anything with a B series engine is gonna be fun! Right, well first thing im gonna do is get a tank of fuel in there,i only just twigged that it appears my VR6 doesnt actually have a low fuel light. I put 1 gallon from a gerry can into it after they completely emptyed the tank. Then drove it 15 miles home so i guess its nigh on empty again seeing that it tells me im averaging around 18 MPG
  8. not precisely there,i used that purely as an example. I'll give it a week before i sell it and buy another honda
  9. Yeah,i'll get it up to my local auto electrical place this weekend and see whats what. I still think im going to get a stock air box back on there,VW did spend millions designing this engine to work perfectly with it after all  Hopefully its nothing to serious,i doubt it since its an intermittant problem. I.E. not always at the exact same revs and not doing it everytime i drive the car. seems more prone to happening in later gears like third and fourth. Thanks for the help so far fellas, appreciated 8)

    sunny crewkerne
  12. right, yeah well the car had a full service and the tank was drained and fuel filter changed. I dont really trust red ex and other so called additives, ive been told from some people clued up peeps in the past the can do as much bad as good. Maybe i should try putting in some super unleaded as i have no idea what the ignition advance is on the car or is it not adjustable on corrado's?
  13. Hi there, basically my VR6 just flew through an MOT after after being garaged for 4 years! yipee. However,as i havent driven it much i have been keeping the battery disconected to stop it going flat. The lad who sold me the car said that when he fit a green cotton filter to it he rememberit ran like poo for a while then gradually got better as the ECU learns?? would disconecting the battery be the reason why my C is running crap,by crap i mean the following: Idle hunts between 1200 and 200 rpm (and frequently stalls!) Car picks up speed fine up to around 4500RPM then it stutters a bit and holds back then after about 6000RPM just starts to fly then you have to change gear for the afore mentioned to happen again!! Is it an idea to just by a standard air box from a member on here as i dont care about induction noise, the engine purrs good enough. FWIW it just had a new coil pack and various things to do with idle, plastic things with foam inside them and stuff  Any help much appreciated as im new to VW and a little disheartened already as i though they were very reliable :( thanks in advance

nice VR6 mate. Even nicer VT in the back ground  Looks like i should know you, that looks an awful lot like ilminster garage  I only just got my first VR6 last week, just passed its mot today after being sat for 3 years! only needed a brake hose. So where bouts you live mate?
  15. he,he,yeah sorry, just cant see the resemblance at all. in fact my crx looks more like a corrado that a seat leon, early 90's was definately the best car design era of all time 8)
  16. how in any way it looks like a corrado is beyond me??? Just another new car,all new cars suck, too heavy
  17. Only owned the car a week and thought it was time i polished it,cannot quite believe how well it came up for an old motor 8) Enjoy!!
  18. best bet is to haul ass up to santa pod or somwhere to get a more accurate idea. In my experience 9 times out of ten peoples cars a slower than they think  Also "guessing" horse power increases from modifications is utterly pointless!! You have to go on a rolling road, get a stock figure (as stock figures vary a lot from car to car) then go back to that same rolling road in similar weather conditions, mainly temperature related, after each modification. Soo many times ive seen chumps turn up with tons of bling bling engine parts that they dont even need only to make less than stock power  Theres my negative take on it all anyway. Not sure how the corrado ECU's work but honda ones can be reampped with eprom chips so you can have launch conrol, that'll help you're 0-60 time, either that or strip it right out 8)
  19. cheers mate, just about the best reply ive ever had to a thread ever :D
  20. Although im sure by asking this i will look like a right chump, having searched 1st there seemed to be hundreds of posts not matching my specific problem. Basically the central locking works, but only in that when i lock the drivers door everythnig locks, then opens again straight away :? The only thing i can see by eye that is wrong is the door pin on the drivers door is kinda loose but still connected to whatever its meant to be if that makes sense. Its almost like the CL cant quite pull the pin down far enough and so reverts to opening again? is that dfeesable? This said, with battery disconnected i can lock all doors including the drivers one manually. Any help much appreciated as its MOT day tomorrow, and i have a bad feeling, really bad
  21. yeah it came with that!! Came with a list of what it needs doing too  central locking locks then unlocks straight after elec mirrors not working sometimes when you use the clutch at a junction etc it just decides to stall :? umm thats about it not too bad for an old banger i guess, just hope its as reliable as my old honda was 8)
  22. it is worth it just to keep engine bay temps down alone, and it does scavvenge a minute ammount of pwer but barely recordable. Just dont wrap cast iron or cheap stainless as they have been known to crack under the new found extreme heat!
  23. sweeet, cheers fellas, thats simple enough then! its quite a nifty piece of gadgetry for a 14 YO car 8)
  24. i did try a search but it was fruitless... Basically on my little on board computer thingy everything works apart from the oil temp reading?? can anyone point me in the right direction with what to look at,or even better an old thread detailing this problem. As mine just shows the image of "- - -" sorry if this is a common question
