  1. lol, the pic makes it look better then it is, that rad support panel is gay... its still actually rusty there was a hole in it, and it was bent out of shape from a previous bodge intercooler fit, i hammered it back into shape, dremeld out rust, attcked the thing proper proper quick time with a wire brush and hammerited over it, just to get me by for now. i still want to get another one and get it shot blasted and then painted.

no it wasnt jabba, i havnt had any dealings with jabba at all....to be honest im VERY surprised and a little confused cos the guy was sound...i dont understand how it was missed..cos everything else looks pretty spot on...but anyway.. shit happens people make mistakes, i cheked it and g-werks will confirm it for me....i really shudnt have filled it with grease to make it spin... oh well, we will see.

student loan comes on monday...might get another charger, lol

  2. few more updates, theres no cooler attached, as the 1st oil change is gona be done after a short test drive, its to allow the engine to get up to temp and basically..one less thing to worry about, then the proper g60 oil cooler will go on along with the external oil cooler

    gearbox attached

    engine mounts being done up

gona go bak up now and continue plumbing it in..mmm i cant wait now...

  3. Righto, been a couple days of highs and lows

my full rebuilt charger(which i got rebuilt as i didnt want any problems) would not turn....

spoke to g-werks, i have changed my opinion on these guys, top effort!!!!, got me the mocal fitting bit i needed  , anyway, and they comformed its not ment to be stuck... stiff maybe but not stuck... they offerd to check it for free, but that meant me posting it and losing time. I wanted to know if it was ok, fecked, or proper fecked, so me and pod split the thing open, anndd..... timing was out, and the bearing inside the displacer was rusted solid against the shaft.....not good.....

I dont know whether the g-lader rebuild usually has the displacer bearing changed but i would assume so...i also dont think the aux shaft bearing has been changed...again i dont know if this is part of the process... anyhow will speak to the guys at g-werks again 2moro (and order me up some new oil feeds :) ) and see what they rekon...

...cheekly just to chek, we filled the bearing with moly grease, smoothd the shaft a touch, timed and put the thing back together...spins fine by hand now, but i would like the bearings replaced.

anyhow, since the last update, rocker cover is on, water pump, supercharger brackets etc are on.., anyhow the pics will show.

mmm polishedness....pity i didnt give it a buff before the pic, 1st time i polished one...pretty rewarding, rekon i can get it MUCH better next time

    dsc02192fq9.jpg

..the keen eye amongst you will notice the incorrect part..oh yeh and some more bits on

    dsc02195lq4.jpg

oh wait whats that...cheeky orange pulley i see!! (will be a nice vernier if she behaves herself from now on)

    dsc02197tt0.jpg

its a rasberry supercharger didnt you know?...

    dsc02196ck6.jpg

    what y'all think?

  4. its going to be my daily driver basicaly, coilies will be coming, and probbaly a set of borbet a or kerscher carmona..not sure when as im a student and i already have 3 cars...i love my audio so.. one of my amps is 2500rms...mite see how difficult it is to fibreglass some 6.5" pods for the doorcard.., few pther bits n pieces, but i dont want people copying me so im not saying everything yet

...and all this is dependent on if it actuall yruns when its back on the road lmao

been polishing the rocker cover yday, looks pretty good if i do say so myself, beats paying £80 to buy one already done, im going to do the alternator today...and then set about, getting the cam pulley done orange, and a cutout in the cam cover

  5. Good work dude :thumbleft:

As far as the pipe that is cable-tied to the engine mount, that should go through the front panel. Where you've got to holes in the panel, there should be a D shaped pipe that is bolted to it, as you can see in the following piccie....

cheers stu!, hmm..i think i'll have to fabricate some mounts as i welded over the holes and run the pipe in a similar fashion to how it was... finding a decent rad support panel seems near impossible!...any reason why that pipe runs out the front???

    Looks QUALITY mate! Good effort.

Can you please please PLEASE tell me which bolts you used for your engine stand and where to get them? I've asked this lot a couple of times already and no-one knows!

    Cheers :thumb right:

i got the bolts from a engineering place...ill have a look for you tommorow

  6. Havent posted much on the site, been runnin around like mad for last couple months, new to the vw scene, so anyone please correct me if theres a better way of doing anything i am

Heres my G60 which i bought last year, had a crank bolt go on me, so i decided to whip the engine out and do a proper job

sorry about the pics, i never did take a good pic of it

    image744copyno5.jpg

    image746my3.jpg

have to say, this car is a little quicker then i thought...because of the torque you just dont feel the pace or something...but it seemed to keep up with suposidly faster cars

then the dreaded crank bolt went, soooooo, here follow the progress pics, and a list of whats been done:

    coilovers!

or anything you guys recomend...im trying not to just bodge this together, if a jobs got to be done, its got to be done proper as this is going to replace my GSI as a daily driver, and then i can concentrate with my chevette project, lol

wil keep updating this, sooo what do the corrado massiv think?

  7. I dont have much experience with the vw engines, but i do have a bit with vauxhalls, redtops etc

i would say, give her a good going over, take her to bits, take the flywheel out, get it lightend (use new bolts), and then have the whole crank assembly complete with flywheel clutch etc balanced(and re-ground if needed) local engineering place should be able to do that for you, i just had my G60 one done, cost me £200 which included new oversized bearings for the bottom end

some new rings and possibly a re-hone, but you would have to inspect the block to see if it needs one, while the heads off, get new gaskets can get these from GSF,you can get a full head kit, and new sump gasket.

Dremel out the ports on the head + inlet and exhaust fanimolds, matching these to the new gaskets, as youve gone this far, mite aswel treat her to a new water+oil pump.(would personaly say get VW ones)

The heads are pretty simple to rebuild, get her acid dipped to clean it up, and re-lap the valves, you shudnt really need to get it skimmed, but that shud be £20 odd

New cambelt kit, new bolts etc...

rough idea of prices..this is for my g60

new bolts, rings, seals etc - £250-300

    crank balance+lighten flywheel + hone- £200

    head kit - £80

    vr6 clutch - £80

oil pump - £120 i think it was???

    windage tray(sump gasket) - £21

it does all add up, although id look at doing a vauxhall boys trik and using bike carbs if you can 8)

  8. Yup, she sheared her bolt off on the way back from work, doing 40/50mph in 5th, slammed clutch down ASAP..

shit happens, im not fuming but im little anoyed as i orderd a crank bolt and pulley 2 days ago as advised by Pitstop developments(steve who incidently is a proper sound bloke!!) ..this was after VW telling me its a non listed part 2 weeks ago...got oil cooler, new sump, serviceing bits, sensors and what not lying in the living room, was gona order a FMIC next week :(

took inlet pipes off to see if itd killed the charger(i dont know..just having a look...) annnd theres a only a fine mist of oil, nutin major, gona pop out to my mates where i towed her to and inspect further...

all in all, merry xmas lads and ladesses!

  9. being a student and owning 3 cars ..i can afford to run my G60 just about...petrol isnt the problem, its spending the money to get it to a state where i can drive it and not have that voice in my head sayin "its gona break down haha"

if petrol gets any more expensive, and i struggle...ill just eat once a day  , the beer budget shall not be altered 8)

  10. my motor seems fine to be honest with you, but i got a spare motor incase:p

i am gona grease the runners, and it doesnt seem to be poppin fuses (yet..)

need to get my cooling situation sorted, cos im getting tired of having the heaters on full hot blast and having burning ankles, lmao

  11. lmao, yup, but at least you know once its done its gona be done proper!

taking the dash apart on these isnt difficlut at all.

i do need to find some wiring diagrams though....looks like the bently manual may be my next purchase...but i did get told from a reliable source its available online as a pdf for free....any hints to where i may find this will be appriciated!

veedub21, if you need, i have a spare switch you can have for the price of postage, otherwise ill just keep it incase mine fails, i seem to have traced all the wires for the spoiler, its worth noteing that the green/white and blue/white wire from the motor actually change to solid yellow (and green i think...?) in the left of the boot, in a plug.

  12. and today decided to have a look at the speed activation on the spoiler, wohoo, i got it working!!

decided to take out the centre console and clean up the wiring a little, and wired my remote amp lead into a spare heater switch :D

coudnt neaten it as much as i wanted due to the alarm wiring, so im gona rip the alarm out, sell it on ebay and fit one properly. 8)

managed to identify one of the rattles in the car too, little bracket that 'i think' holds the undertray on, cos i coudnt see anything else that looked straight forward there, will 'deal' with him tommorow when i put the interior back together

also theres a red and yellow wired plug which goes no where on my car, im assuming its a glovebox light, but my glovebox has no light...

that and i have two ariel leads:confused:
