:salute: That 'grey' one would have been mine.

I saw 2 yesterday... Before 9am I was following a blue L reg 16v (with 16" wheels?) through Kirby Muxloe to where I guess you work in Leicester then just before 2pm I passed a burgandy M reg on the New Parks Boulevard - didn't catch what it was as a bloke took my flash at you as a cue to pull out in front of me! Anyone on here?

I also had a Mk2 GTi 16v - in Oak Green, albeit a bit of a sheddy one, for about a year as a stop-gap before finding my VR and would echo the comments that they are great cars but not as good as the Corrado. I had both for about a month before selling the Mk2 and when driving them back to back I found the Mk2 to feel like a tractor in comparison, with an industrial gearbox, high driving position, raspy engine and loads more body roll when cornering. However driving around in a Mk2 GTi is definitely an event too as they're so iconic, they're very rewarding when driven aggresively and they have great road presence - I found mine got more looks than my Corrado. A couple of minor pros they have over the Corrado not mentioned so far are that you can easily fit a MTB in the back and car parks are much easier to negotiate due to the higher seat & shorter door! Sounds like you should try one anyway as you've always wanted one. :salute:

Haha, just got back and if that was on the A505 I think that was me you saw if Twilight Violet can pass as blue/green! Not washed in the whole of December and still "looked nice"! I had the stereo on and didn't realise you revved it - just looked to me like you drove round the roundabout real slow having a look across. :salute:

I can't be the only one out there who thinks this when they see the new Mk6 Golf advert......

A set of 16" BBS RX2s sounds exactly like what you're looking for... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=83868

In the years to come I can see late model VR6s becoming more desirable than earlys, obviously only if the individual car is in good condition with a good service history. Like for like condition/milage wise it's always the later models off of the production line/last model revisions that become more sought after unless the earlier model has better performance - S1/S2 Escort RS Turbos spring to mind. That said a sub 70K, well kept, early VR6 would be well worth buying. If you take the Mk2 Golf GTi as an example the type most people lust after is a 90 spec 16v with big bumpers and they will allways sell better than the equivalent others, although a pre-90 spec small bumpered 8v is still a good car. In the Corrados' case I think it will be late model, dark metallic VRs with black leather that become most sought after (and I don't say that just because I have one!) if you take the Campaign & Mystic Blue Storm out of the equation.

Thanks for the advice chaps. JMR are a little too far away so I went along to a garage close to work who, just incase, are also the local Milltek dealer and 2 clamps, 15 min & £8 later was on my way. It's nice to know that not everything that goes wrong on the VR costs serious coin. Just for reference if anyone with a Milltek and a similar problem finds this on a search the pipe size is: 57mm/2.25"

I have a rattling from underneath my VR which is because a clamp has broken free and is loose on the pipe - see pic. I'd like to get this sorted asap because it's :censored: annoying. Can anyone tell me if this is a Corrado specific clamp or a generic VW part? Also if someone can provide a part number & cost for a replacement that'd be great. I have a Milltek cat-back fitted - if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

In no particular order: Porsche 964 Turbo Aston Martin DB9 Aston Martin DB5 (uprated with modern brakes etc as featured on Top Gear once) Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 (in black) BMW E30 M3 (with BBS RS's) BMW E46 M3 CSL Ferrari F50 Ferrari 512TR McLaren F1 Challenger Tank (with ammo for those GTA road rage moments! :bad-words: )

I've had it for just over a month now, after a long search, and as I picked it up from a guy who posts/posted on here as 'latestarter' I thought I'd better post up a few pics for the forum.... It's a 94M, twilight violet with full black leather interior and it's just recently clocked over 100'000mls. It's standard apart from: a Cat-back oval Miltek exhaust (if I was to fit an exhaust myself I would have chosen this) an AMD ECU re-map a few years ago, to a healthy 195bhp on the rollers colour-coded front grille smoked standard rear lights (Mk2/3 Golf style, as they should have been imho) the usual Lupo aero wipers (these need the blades replacing so if anyone can advise me what exactly I'm supposed to pick out of the rack at Halfords I'd be very grateful!). All electrics are working now - many thanks to whoever did the 'heater blower motor resistor' repair guide on the Wiki - and all in all you can't knock the condition of it for a 14yr old car that has been/is used daily. I have no crazy turbo/supercharged beast plans for it but if it treats me well and I have the finances and motivation sometime next year I may go 35/40mm lower on coilovers and fit some 16" BBS RX2s which I have laying around, maybe also make a couple of minor OEM+ style cosmetic changes like a black front grille with black VW badge, smoked side repeaters and German plates. I recently had a service done and was advised the front discs will need replacing soon, ideally I'd like to take the opportunity to upgrade to 288mm discs - will these go on as a straight swap or will the pads and/or callipers need changing too?

Thanks for the responses. I've just been browsing through the Member Gallery section and the Corrado is now winning the battle between heart & head. 1 pro to getting a VR is that I've already got a set of 16" BBS RX2s laying around which I never got round to putting on the Mk3 8) .

Hello all - new member here. I'm thinking about buying myself a VR6 and could do with some advice from you guys more in the know about them. Currently I am car-less having put my Mk3 Golf GTi 16V up the @rse of a Civic Type R on a wet dual carriage way this week to complete a nice Golf/Civic/Golf sandwich :brickwall:. This has now forced the issue of me buying myself something new, which I was thinking of doing anyway (so no tears have been cried over the Golf) and the car that is calling me most is a Corrado VR6. What concerns me most about potential VR ownerships tho is that many on the market seem to have had engine rebuilds, even some at lower mileages. What's the reason for this and what do I look for when viewing a VR to stop myself buying something that's going to let go soon? Also I do about 150 miles a week (mainly country roads/A roads and Mway with a little bit of urban crawl). With petrol at £1/per L what's this going to cost me per week? Rust - are Corrados prone to this and if so whereabouts does it come through? Waying up my options I'm fairly sure my next car will be either a Mk2 Golf GTi (16V if possible!) or a Corrado VR6. I just can't decide yet....
