  1. Thats what I thought. So can I take off the speaker pods on my late spec door cards & put them onto the early spec door cards which will still enable me to keep the window switches in the pod location. Rich
  2. I have apparently got a late spec interior in my 1.8 16V. If I wanted to change from the current late spec to early spec door cards & seats can I take the late spec door plastic speaker/electric window swich & storage compartment off the late spec door card & swap it over onto the early spec door card :? ? I only ask as I've seen that the early spec door cards have a hole in the doors which I assume is for the electric window operation & I want to keep the electric window switch where it is at the moment by the speaker. I'm not too keen on the lighter door trim & would like to swap it back to the original black door cards & seats. This is of course if I don't sell it & do keep it. I'm very, very slowly coming round to liking it now that its had a wash, T-cut & wax 8) Rich
  3. Yep run the car with the expansion cap off and with the heater on hottest setting and fan on full blast. Let the car warm up whilst squeezing all the radiator pipes (especially the ones going to the heater matrix) to get all the air out the system, when the fans kick in the water level in the expansion tank should drop, top it up a bit and put the cap back on. Make sure the heaters get warm though whilst doing it, if its staying cold then keep running the car squeezing the pipes until all the air is out the system and the heaters start getting hot. I'll have to try this tomorrow as I'm having the same problem, & like you Rod, my temp gague doesn't work :? Rich Well I tried this 9I think I did it in the correct order) & still no luck. i'm having the thermostat replaced tomorrow, so, fingers crossed, that should fix it :D Rich

  5. Aft'noon chaps, I've had the water tepm light flashing at me ever since I bought the car. Steve (the previous owner) rekons it's to do with a sensor that needs replacing & this is what he suggested would need doing: ''temperature sensor for coolant temp gauge and idle stabilisation (KR engine), Black single pin, part no. 049 919 501'' (thanks mic_VR) and hopefully this willl cure the problem But I think it might be the thermostat that needs replacing as the temp gauge does not work, & when I turn on the heaters, the air coming out is 'luke warm' The fan works too. I only think it might be the thermostat as I had the same problem in my GT4. The temp gauge went up to 1/4 way evan after loads of miles & the air from the heaters was not hot. Just wanting to pick the brains of the 'seasoned' Corrado owners on here before I go out & buy a thermostat, only to find out I don't need one  If it is the thermostat................where do I locate it :? I should know this  Cheers for your help & answers in advance. Rich
  6. Bugger, missed you by a few days. I'll try the long plier approach & if that doesn't work I guess I'll have a looksies on the links provided by you kind folk 8) :D Rich
  7. I'll let you know when I get back from work which side works. Whats a rocker peice :? Rich
  8. Yes Tim, it does look as though one side is working & the other side is not. It kind of goes skewiff as you say  Richard
  9. Hi guys, Luckily, the sunroof is in the closed position. The motor works fine as I can hear it working & the sunroof actually moves when the switch is pressed as though it's about to open, but it's jammed somewhere, so I'm guessing it may be something to do with the runners? I'll have a look at the link that TimDoc posted up :D After reading the link, I'm not even sure if my sunroof is a tilt only, or a tilt & slide sunroof :? as I've obviously not seen it working  If it's any help mine is a J reg 1.8 16v Rich
  10. Yep. Thats what it looks like. Anyone got a wiring diagram for what the wires should look like? Rich
  11. I take it you have to take off the roof lining to get to the sunroof when it's jammed? The motor works as the sunroof moves a bit & then just gets stuck, so I'm guessing it's got something to do with the rails or sliders. Rich
  12. Well I had alook today at the wiring behind the switch & what a nightmare  It looks like someone has had a go at re-wiring them at some point as they had 3rd party male & female connectors on them. The switch for the mirrios is a round switch. Is this from a later model? Mine is a J reg 1.8 16V. I'm only asking as they look like they've been put in at a later date as the wiring is certainly not from the factory  Rich
  13. I think I'll give this a go tomorrow as my mirrors don't work at all. No whirring or clicking from the motor what so ever. I'll let you know the results :D Rich
  14. So'k chaps. I think I've found a local dealer for Borbet alloys & that's Motor World in creepy Crawley. I'll pop along there tomorrow & ask them :D Rich
  15. Afternoon again guys, I'm just wondering if parts are interchangeable between the different models of Corrados? i.e if a sunroof from a 2.0ltr 16v can fit onto a 1.8 16v, or headlights from a G60 can fit onto a 1.8 16v etc etc. I think I'm gonna need a few parts for mine & was looking to get them from a few of the cars that are being broken on here. Cheers, Rich
  16. Afternoon all, Just been giving the corrado a bit of a scrub up, but the weather has stopped me 1/4 of the way through (& god it's hard work, I don't think it's been waxed or polished in god knows how many months  ) & have noticed the Borbets centre caps have a little lock on them. Now my problem is that I don't have the key for the lock :? Now i could just clean the wheels on the car, but I'm not like that. I'm pretty anal when it comes to cleaning my cars & I'd like to take the wheels off to clean in the arches & behint the wheels. Has anybody got a spare center cap key they could lend me or even better, point me in the right direction to buy a key 8) . Many thanks in advance. I'll get some pics up of her when I've finished cleaning :D Rich
  17. Thought I'd post up some of the quots I've been getting so far. Elepants insurance £240 TPF&T, Churchill £207 TPF&T. I'm gonna give HIC a bell on Monday to see if they can do any better, what with the club discount they do an' all :D Rich
  18. Cheers for the advice guys 8) Thanks for that Steve. I'll get it servised asap at my local independent garage. He only charges £35 ph. Problem is there is always around a 3 week wait to book your car in  He is good though 8) I didn't mean to diss the car Steve, hope you didn't see it that way. I just wasn't as excited driving the Corrado home as I was with the GT4. Maybe the lack of an HKS D/V chriping away was the problem   I am pleased with the car & it does look good sat in the driveway. There's not another Corrado around this way for miles, so it's nice driving something different from all the other hatchbacks on the road today. I always look after my motors, so I have no doubt in my mind that this one will be looked after too 8) Once I give her a clean I'll post up some pictures. Rich
  19. You weren't told this in your driving lessons :? Rich
  20. Evening all, Just thought I'd let you know that I picked up my Corrado this afternoon. It needs a few things doing to it, but these should only be small jobs. I'm not sure what I was expecting from the car, but I had an awful feeling on the way home, kind of like a 'Have I made the right decision?' kind of feeling :? . I'm sure I have made the right decision, I guess I was spoilt by my last car some what. I just didn't have the same feeling I had as when I bought my last car.......i.e grinning like a Cheshire cat all the way home :D The lights on these Corrados are terrible aren't they    . I could have sworn I had a couple of candles showing me the way home:lol: Please bear with me as I'm still a bit of a newbie to the VW world & if the following list of things to do are on a 'How To' list somewhere on the forum then I'm sure I'll find them in due course 8). But all comments & hepful directions are always welcome 8) So on the list of things to do are: 1) Upgrade the candles for actual lights & change head lights/bulbs (I hear a wiring loom can be adapted to fit somehow?) 2) O/S/F headlight lense has cracked, so needs to be changed, 3) Drivers seat is a bit wobbley & I can't move the seat as near to the steering wheel as I'd like to :? . The previous owner (Steve) did say he had changed the seats over, so maybe it'll be a case of just taking it out & having a poke around under the seat? I thought my GT4 was low to get into, but these are even lower to sit in  4) A service. 5) A good clean & wax/polish. 6) The temp gauge doesn't work, but Steve said this is probably only a sensor that needs replacing. I'll get some pics up when I get round to washing it too. Adios for now amigos. Rich

    Newbie!

Warm welcomes from a fellow newbie myself :D Rich
  22. Hi Steve, Yours is one of the ones that I'm interested in 8) . Think I saw your ad on PH. However you're is out of my price range :( . I've given myself a budget of about 1500. I've got the cash, here & ready, no need for me to sell a car before I can start looking for another one etc. You open to offers??? Rich
  23. Hi Corradude, Ahh, Croydon eh. Straight down the M23 then & off at Junction 10A 8) I don't know exactly where this one is thats 8 miles away from me, but it can't be that hard to find  The only thing that puts me off it is that the advert says it's been partially re sprayed :? It is in my price range though.............. I've spotted a couple more too & these are both in Surrey. Ones in Coulsdon, & not quite sure exactly where the other one is. Rich
  24. Hi guys, Now I've got my eye on a few Corrado's that I'm keen on viewing with the intention of hopefully buying one of them. They've all got over 100k miles on the clock, some part history & the others F/S/H. I'm just picking your brains as to what should have been done & at what mileage intervall (service wise). Should all the belts have been replaced? I've seen some threads on here mentioning 'chains' being replaced?? Are they chain & not belt driven? Is there any other corrado specific characteristics that I should be aware of when looking at them? I know for instance that my last make of car (Toyota), a major part of the front suspension set up has to be renewed at around 50-80k miles. I know the usual things to look out for when looking at a car, but was just wondering if there was anything 'model' specific. Oh, I'll be looking at vlavers, not the VR. Would anyone be able to give me a hand looking at one thats about 10 miles away from me? I'm based near Gatwick Airport in West Sussex. Ta amigos, Rich
