Could be a plug lead breaking down
-
Na mate its not the end. It'll never end..... A Corrado's for life, not just for chrismas. If its screwed its the perfect excuse for a big valve head
-
Thought that I'd update whats been done over the last year. Fitted red tops, 65mm pulley and an sns. Had the outer lips and centre nuts of my wheels polished and all the bolts chromed. After alot of messing around with my timing issues and teething problems (long story) got her running sweet as a nut and finally got my wheels back on the C last Saturday. Thought I'd go to the Tatton Park show on Sunday. Agreat day out went from this..... To this..... Crank pulley bolt snapped on the motorway about 10 miles from the show. This is the 3rd time in 10 years now and its getting old :bad-words: I managed to get the snapped bolt out today but I'll be very suprised if the valves aint bent How many more rebuilds can one car have........ :(

Running std green tops

Dont know about that which is why I was asking on here. With all the advise I've been given now i'm even more undecided which way to go
-
The noise is what I want  I love it. Sounds like a really big hoover. My mate had a G60 Golf years ago and its the noise I fell in love with
-
Ok. I have a spare inlet and out mani so will look into getting the ports matched up to my other head. Always steered away from the cam because i didnt want a lumpy idle but if thats the way to go i'll just have to put up with it. 0.8 bar is about 11.6 psi so if the remap will push that to 15 i'll be happy. Will the live map sort out the digilag or should I go the stage 5 sns route? Since the latest build the lag is much more noticable now. 2nd is hit and miss and sometimes feels flat. Halfway through 3rd its like a powerband on a crosser. Just for info mods are S/steel exhaust Jabba chip and 68mm pulley Stage 5 charger rebuild at GWerks FM IC K&N Panel filter (Soon to be replaced with a Jabba filter)

Theres no doubt that silly boost will do damage over time but I dont do to many miles and dont kill it everywhere. I just want 215 horses with out spending silly money on block and head work. If I go down that road i'd rather drop a charged vr6 lump in. If I do blow it up i've got a spare head and pistons so I'm halfway there
-
I did think of that but I thought as the boost reading is taken from the TB vacuum line it wouldn't make a difference... but I'm no expert. So its not worth remapping, how do I run more than 0.8 bar of boost? Without going to a 65mm pulley.....
-
Right just took it out for a spin. Red line in 2nd gives a reading of 2000 on the MFA and the boost guage sits just below a bar then seems to jump up a bar just as it hits redline. Dont know if the guage is that good tho. So gettin it remapped is the only way to go then. Not really sure what the procedure is with remapping tbh. Do they put a new chip in and tune that or do something to the existing one? I know what they do by altering fuel settings and all that but not how
-
Head and cam are standard. As far as i could tell with the guage in my lap, 1bar. Never liked the idea of the ISV reroute to be honest. I know we are all divided on this but I say if in doubt leave it alone. I can see wisdom in both sides of the debate :) So If i buy the SNS will that sort out the amount of allowed boost? Or am I gonna have to take it somewhere and have it mapped on the rollers?
-
Just about run my C in now after the build but MFA boost test is reading around 2000 which I belive is about 14.5 psi. Also MFA shows 430 on idle which says to much timing advance but just had the timing setup at MidlandVW. How accurate are these readings? As its running 68mm pulley, jabba chip and just had stage 5 charger rebuild at G-Werks, I was expecting it to be a little higher than 14.5. Maybe between 16 and 17. I would have said boost leak but all the pipework and IC are new. Ive read all sorts of stuff on the net about this with a million different answers including the ECU limiting the boost via the ISV. Was toying with swapping the Jabba chip for an SNS but not sure if it will make enough difference to warrant the cash. Is there that much difference after the digi-lags been sorted out? Also it says on the website when ordering to list mods and how much boost you are pushing. As i'm not 100% sure if my reading are right dont know what to do. I did hook up a boost guage to test to but its hard to get an accurate reading with it not being digital and only reading pressure in bar. And opinions or advise would be brill...

All Done :D Runnin really lumpy and have to give it a bit of throttle to start. Had a fiddle with the timing but think it needs to go somewhere and be setup. Maybe midland VW. Big thanks to everyone for all the advise advise...... think I'm gonna do the rear now

G-werks are rebuilding my charger. Gone for the full stage 5 race spec. I suppose with what I've already spent another £560 isn't gonna hurt.
-
Soz for the late reply but my internet has been playing up. Can't check anything at the mo as while setting the timing last week my charger started making a droning noise. I whipped the one side of the casing apart to find a few small pieces of metal in it. Sent it straight down to Darren & co at G-Werks and heard today that it looks like something has passed through it and done some serious damage. It wouldn't be so bad but the car aint been anywhere. I bought the charger second hand for £400 which had aparently only done 2k since a stage 4 rebuild and since fitting its been started 3 or 4 times and just left to idle. Did something get lodged in it? Something in the airbox?.... or did the guy I bought it from rip my pants down? Answers on a postcard. My only hope now is that Rob can rebuild me a charger using some parts from my old charger which I will send down to him tomorrow. Yet another massive kick in the stones (and the wallet) I've now gone right passed being pi$$ed off and moved straight on to going insane :cuckoo:

Intercooler is from a Saab 9000....... with a bit of cutting and welding :)
-
Right heaters are blowing hot now. It was an air lock :) But the wierd blowing sound is doing my head in. I cant feel it blowing anywhere. From the top it sounds like its coming from the exhaust/inlet manifold and from underneath it sounds like the downpipe somewhere. Would it make wierd blowing noises if the timing needed setting up properly?
-
Well the old girl started tonight...... first turn of the key. :D Got a slight water leak coming from around the waterpump somewhere (maybe the plastic flange on the bottom) and somethings blowing (downpipe, or one of the manifolds I think or maybe it was just loud in the garage didn't got time to have a proper look) Dropped it back on its wheels and couldn't get over how low it was. Been so used to seeing it a foot off the floor on stands. Gonna pull it out tomorrow and have a good look in the light. Got hot very quick too so may be have an airlock somewhere as the heaters were blowing cold. Hopefully just a few teething problems.. FIngers crossed

Yeah had to take the pulley off completely to free it up :mad2:

Nice 1 :notworthy:

TBH I prefer the black. It breaks the colour up. I missed a set of black on ebay about a month ago by £1 :censored: and have been looking ever since with no result
-
No they are black but badly done.
-
Damn I've looked everwhere for the all black tints for mine. Are you gonna change them? If you do i'll buy the black ones
