  1. Well, took me a little time to work up to it......
  2. Just bought an 02 plate Passat V6 4motion estate as a big brother for the 'Rado. 66,000 miles, part leather, drives lovely but a bit on the quiet side for me at the mo and I don't seem to be able to find anyone that makes an exhaust for it. I know it's a bit of a long shot but anyone on here ever had one? Rich
  3. Ha ha oh yeah an explanation might help, well after a lot of horror stories and low compression readings it turns out that my mate's compression tester was up the wossname and it was just a lead..... Doh!
  4. Well, thought I'd start to update this bit as it's been a while and I'm all excited as I'm back on the road again afeter just over 2 months. 150,000 mile engine out - 79,000 mile engine in, replaced timing chains & all the other associated gubbins New Clutch New set of leads 6 branch manifold BMC CDA 312MM Brakes finally fitted I'm LOVING it again! Will do some pics after I've managed to clean it but the brakes are Soooooooo much better. Big thank you to the guys at RK Engineering for not saying "I told you so" Ooooh and I've just bought a Passat V6 4Motion Estate.... Anyone had any experience of them, picking it up on Saturday 'cos I thought it would make a nice big brother for the 'Rado
  5. Fixed & back on thre road courtesy of those lovely people @ RK Engineering
  6. Ah not just a straight swap then? No good for a spanner numpty like me then. Thanks for the reply though.
  7. Mmmmmm car looks sweeet.... How's the fit of the golf seats? Do they go low enough? (I'm only little so they don't have to go so low as the 'Rado ones) I've been looking for some black leather Recaro's for a while and if the golf seats fit they might be a bit easier to come by. Thanks Rich
  8. OK, thanks for that, my mate reckons he knows someone that's got it so he's on to that over the weekend for me, fingers crossed for that at the mo.
  9. Don't know yet, currently trying to track down a VAG-COM person that doesn't wanna charge me £50+VAT
  10. Well, here's the thing..... I've swapped my 150,000 mile VR6 Engine for a 79,000 mile one, using my inlet manifold, ancillaries etc. Changed Timing Chains/Tensioners/Guides etc. Fited a S/S 6 Branch Manifold. Took it for it's 1st drive today & it's hesitating & even backfiring, do I need to reset the ECU or anything simple like that? When I say I've swapped the engine, actually it's more like a mate's done it for me so if any suggestions could be in very simple terms for me to pass on to him I'd be HUGELY gratefull :D Thank you Rich
  11. If I wore a hat I'd take it off to you :notworthy: I'd LOVE to have that kind of ability. Looking forward to the finished article. Rich
  12. Ride was LOADS better on my Cupra than the Meg but the Megane did have loads more toys
  13. I'm pretty sure they didn't make white ones, I had a yellow one & LOVED it!
  14. Fixed it, well actually RK Engineering fixed it (thank you) dirty plugs... Doh!! But having done almost 150000 miles and never had any serious work done to the engine it appears it's getting fairly near terminal... :(
  15. Well I've changed the leads and the coil pack and still no improvement....
  16. well it seemed to be gradually getting worse, now noticable from just over 3000 revs. Just changed the fuel filter but no better and now I smell of Petrol :) Ony other ideas?
  17. Ooooooh no never above 69MPH :D Thanks for the input, I'll give it a go next weekend, only really noticable on hard acceleration and over 70 so I'll take it easy for the week & hopefully it'll be alright. Rich
  18. Right well I've done a few searches but not really come up with an answer. The car seems to pull OK in 1st, 2nd & 3rd but in 4th and 5th (giving it some welly) get it much past 4500 revs and it just feels like it's "missing", still pulls but feels proper lumpy. Any ideas? Oh it's a '94 VR6 Thanks Rich
  19. Lesbray has "les-ebayshop" Carries a lot of dub parts & will do collection on 'em for us locals therefore saving on postage. Seems like a nice guy & very helpful & has a red VR6 although I haven't actually bought anything from him yet but I have ordered a rear brakes & bearings set so I'll be in a better position to call him a nice man when that arrives. Rich
  20. Les Bray's good, based in Camborne so not a million miles away and a 'Rado owner too. Helpful as well which is nice :D Oh and "Hello" Rich
  21. Oid Loik one for me Laaaaaaaaaaand Rover :D
  22. Oh dear, I don't have any of that left, I sprinkled it all on my spoiler to try & make that work :)
  23. Mmmmmm if only I knew 1 end of a spanner from the other...... Well done though, certainly looks like you knows yer onions. I'm loving the Audi gear knob, was it a straight swap or did it involve some voodoo trickery to get it to fit? Rich
  24. May well take you up on that, be interested to see the pics when you get 'em done. Rich
