    Xenon headlights?

I presume from the price you mean HIDs? xenon are the standard upgrade from halogen lights that boy racers put in their cars to make them look whiter, some tint with blue, to get the HID effect. Must admit the gas in the bulb is xenon in the HIDS anyway. I bought a set of the £600 lights for my impreza but have not fitted them yet. They are made by a few companies, the best i know of being Bellof, but some are available from target. These can be bought froma company I know of called C.A. automotive. if interested, ask for roy and tell him Adam with the 22B sent you, he may help you on price. The £600 plus ones are dual beam, hence the increased price. No other HIDs, factory fit or otherwise can provide dip and main beam. Factory HIDs revert to standrard bulbs for main beam. These ones work by shifting the electric field around the discharge filament to cause the location of the spark to move into the same focal point as it would be i a dual beam H4 bulb. Havent changed the bulbs yet on the corrado, but am presuming they are a single lamp dual beam H4? if the main beam is separated into two bulbs, one for dip, and one for main as can be done on a mark two golf, then it is possible to fit a single beam H4 for £400 or less, you could consider getting yourself a separate driving lamp for high beam only, and using cheaper HIDs for dipped beam. Having seen the quality and complexity of the bellof kit, I dont think i wuld be keen on going the scrap yard way, especially given the voltage these things run at, and the temperature of the spark (6000K!!)
  2. Am going to have to have my supercharger rebuilt. Have the option of all the stage 4 stuff at the same time, but not convinced I should do it. Does anyone know what stage 4 means exactly? Is there any point flowign anything if I am not going to flow other bits? like exhaust? I would like the car to remain standard lookign ideally, so the most I may do is a k and n panel filter. Does a stage 4 include changing the pulley? My experience comes completely from turbo charged cars, and the thing I learned is not to increase boost unless the map can accomodate the new boost level. In the case of the impreza, without an ecu change, you can increase boost, and the MAP and MAF sensors detect the extra air and alter the position in the ecu map, so that the correct amount of fuel is added to compensate and maintain A/F ratio. The standard charger boosts to 0.6 bar I am told, does the standard map operate a maf/map sensor in the same way as my impreza? If so, does the map in standard ecu have the capability of handling 0.8 bar or whatever the new boost is without being modified? sorry for all the questions, but I am a newbie!
  3. the mechanic working on my impreza had a listen with a screw driver and thinks the noise is coming from my supercharger itself. Bit concerned about this. Have stopped driving the car on the recommendation of TSR. Going to remove it and send it to them or jabbasport. Would like to be able to drive it to jabbasport as peterborough isnt that far from london. Does anyone have any other suggestions? it cant hurt to get the thing overhauled at 70k anyway, since it will need doing at some point. Rather sooner than wait for it to be irreparable.

    Leather Interior

I would have the recaros retrimmed, especially if electric. I had my golf nterior done by junior before moving on to subarus and can couch for the quality of his work. Only problem I have ever seen with his work, was a friends fto. He wanted the door trims done but sadly due to the design, there was nowhere to edge off the leather so he had to stick the panel on and simply cover the end of the leather with some black silicon. The final result didnt look right, and junior knew it, so he did not charge for the work at all, cant say fairer than that. One of the nicest people I have ever dealt with! The seats were first rate too.
  5. you did well to get the username vr6, clearly a founder member! it does it while stationery in neutral and in the gears. but not at idle. steering is of no consequence. It is engine speed related above roughly 1500 rpm. I noticed it for the first time today and it was definitely raining. Not linnked to the windscreen wipers though as I turned them off.
  6. Hi, my first post on here so thanks in advance. Looking for a non vag dealer simpl to fiure out what is wrong with my car. minor squeak akin to a slipping belt. could be fan belt or alternator, dont know if it could be supercharger. could have a vw dealer do it, but in my experience, enthusiasts are better.
