Right so here is the problem, about 10 months about i bought a Ford Focus (sorry for swearing) 52 plate with 73k miles. The car has had the odd problem here and there but nothing major until december '09 The big end went and i had to weigh up my options, by a new engine and replace the clutch at the same time and it cost £2200 or for the same money try and get something that will last me a while, i do a lot of miles 40k+ a year and a car for 2200 aint going to hack it with out constant parts needed, trust me i have been there. so i stump up the cash, everything is running well, and then after 2k miles the clutch breaks and i have to be towed back to bristol from bedford by the AA which takes forever! (got home at 4am) The garage, who i trust, changes the clutch as it is a faulty part and replaces, sound i think, especially to have dont it at the drop of a hat and away i went, and everything is driving smoothly, i am thinking its time to do the brakes soon etc etc, and then here comes old mr clutch having problems again. Same symptoms same inability to change gear, and a horrendous drive from london to bristol! It is now in the garage and hopefully being repaired, but my question is When is it time to just throw the towel and and when the car has been repaired sell it? And when do you just think, ah well its been repaired for free under the warrenty and despite me losing 2 days pay at work i just carry on and when the car has lasted a year i sell it and get myself a corrado again! HELP ME BEFORE I GO INSANE! and once again sorry for the non rado related subject! i just thought you guys are always so helpfull when i had my rado that it was worth an ask for sound advice! Alex

Dutchboy, sorry i didnt get in touch sooner, not been in the best state of mind as you can probably understand. Can you e-mail me directly at [email protected] with you postage details and i will send the manifold tomorrow by first class. Once again sorry

in my frustrationin taking them apart i seem to have snapped the drivers side window seal, it looks lik it has been off before and bent, so didnt like me taking it off again!
-
well its a whole host of problems, the car needs New CV joint New Steering Rack Starter motor needs replacing, three tappits have gone and it mis fires like nothing i have ever heard! Waynos Which side trim do you want, drivers or passenger? £10?? to be honest, most of the panels have rust or dents, the only thing thats any good inside is the passenger seat and the rear bench, oh i have the triangle as well!

Banana Man more like! but i take it that driving it home from work and back again is going cause no extra damage is it?
-
looks like i am going to chance it, i have the 4th emergency service should anything major go wrong... i was just a bit concerned that its belt driven and don't know what else is driven on the same belt - all i need is for that to go and then the rest of the stuff pack in me as a consiquence!

yeah i need a new pump, is fooked! now the question is, is it ok to drive it 120 miles with it like that until the morning when i get it in the garage to get it fixed??
-
Right well my motor is playing up again! Drove to work this morning and when i left the steering was fine and easy to turn etc, when i arrive at work the steering is now very heavy and there is a clicking noise when i try to turn the wheel!? Has the pump gone?
-

I wake up on saturday to find some oik has smashed my passenger window and stolen nothing but in the process of searching snapped the handbreak clean off, snapped the ash tray, broke the dash trying to get the stereo out, and then went and put super glue, which was originally in the glove box, all over the drivers seat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :censored:

welcome to the elite!

mate get it down to wiltshire, i'll get some wings on that bad boy at work! trust me we have done stranger things here!!!! 8)

Nice C you've got there mate, i have a slight mis fire when its cold but i have chaged everything, distributor, leads, plugs, cleaned the isv and clean the metering head, still cant sort it! On the revs reducing slowly you need to check at the back of the throttle body, underneath there is a rubber damper which is there to stop the inlet closing too quickly and starving the engine, it is an adjustable one, 12mm socket to undo the nut and then once its is loose then wind it out so the stop is at about 2k rpm, i found this gave better throttle response and gave me hance to clean everything up......hope this is some help. The guys i bouyght my nugget valver off were cowboys so i have had some work to do. I would also do a check on the pulleys and check they have all the screws in and are tight, i had one sheer off as it was only held on with 2 not 4 bolts, worth checking because when it goes it can lead to the head gasket going as the water pump has no drive......... just my 2p's worth but worth knowing

looks sweet, be good to see the beast on the national day!! i need to get mine done, but thats planned for august, just in time for the nurburgring trip!

parma ham and morzarella for my luch, the over priced version of your standard ham and cheese!!!
-
well all fixed, cheers for the advice fellas, it turns out that when the wheels were refurbished they painted they to such good quality that the balancing weights wnt bond to the surface, so when i took it to the garage i had them re balanced and the judder at 80 is gone, and strangely enough one of the exhaust hangars was cracked and eprished, so replaced that while on the lift..... Having the CV boot changed tomorrow though as its about to go and i dont want to leave it and end up ahving to change the CV joint itself!! Once again the forum comes up trumps!!! Thanks guys!
