  1. i just checked the euro website and cross referenced corrado against 16v mk2 golf and they state hydraulic clutch with same part numbers...shall try the passat to see what it comes up with...
  2. can anybody throw some light on my problem..i have a suspect clutch cylinder gone..so to resolve the problem i have tried to order both master and slave cylinders, only to be told that gsf do not list the master one and euro's supplier have stopped making them! but upon investigation i think that they are the same as the mk2 16v golf..there are loads of these still on the road,so surely this cannot be right.... :(
  3. cheers for that...as luck would have it i dont use it as a daily..it can wait until the snow dissappears, thats exactly what i suspected though...
  4. went out this morning to fire up the corrado after leaving her to stand in this cold awful weather, she fired up on the button....went to put my foot on the clutch and the pedal shot straight to the floor!!! is it possible that it is frozen up? or would the cylinder have shot in the cold weather.....it was fine before the big freeze...its been standing for about two weeks or so.... :(
  5. vw do still stock them, you have to order them from germany,i bought one last summer from my local vw dealer...... :)
  6. yep just unlucky i guess! on the way to edition 38 going up the a 43 towards silverstone...pulled me and a friend, there must have been hundreds of cars with these plates gone up that road in the last few days,i even removed them and put my uk plates on...they still fined me as they say that they had videod me and it was on record,he then took photos of my car and told me how nice it looks..cheeky git!!!!!! :bad-words:
  7. i have just been pulled over and fined sixty pounds because i have euro style plates on my corrado, they have a d logo on one end,and according to the police officers that pulled me up... i am not allowed to use this style of plate as cameras cannot pick up this font...this poses a problem: why can a german registered car or polish or french or spanish car come over to this country for two years before having to go back and get their equivelent of an mot..ie:tuv in the german case, and they do not get a fine for having unreadable plates.....yes i knew that they were supposedly illegal when i put them on,thus the fine will be paid...but does this mean that the foreign registered cars can tear around our streets without ever getting a fine or not? :bad-words:
  8. on the back of the rev counter..take the rev counter out and its a silver barrel with two pins on it,you can heat the solder and remove it..not sure if it can be put back in or not,but it didnt matter as i didnt intend having it back in as it was driving me insane,my pressure gauge tells me everything i need to know, and if the buzzer goes off its usually too late by then if it is because of pressure loss....good luck
  9. this may or may not be of help,i have an early valver and had the same problem,i persisted with it for weeks trying the oil switch thing etc, then after a deep search on forum, found a post about this...apparently there is a diode on the back of the rev counter that controls the beeper etc,the clocks are really easy to pull out,so after having the oil pressure checked ok,i removed the clocks, removed the rev counter and ran the car without the counter and thus it worked fine,i was unable to locate the diode, but located the beeper,as i had been at the end of my tether,i removed the beeper, and put a pressure gauge into the dash, the light still works fine..flashes and goes out,no more beeps or light flashing, and i can see my oil pressure, have thought about buying another rev counter to see if it still happens, but i am a great believer in if its ok,leave it alone....like i said it saved me a shed load of cash ,it may help it may not..... :D
  10. excellent stuff vr,cheers, shall get them ordered asap...know what i will be at this weekend cheers...
  11. she's been ok! replaced all the joints on the front, all the cv's,put 4x new pirelli f1's on,[stretched] front eyebrow spoiler, red tints on the rear, and german pressed plates, need to post up pics really, hows the vr
  12. had a good mooch around on here but cannot come up with a definate answer....have the chance to buy some coilovers cheap, but only mk2 golf ones are listed..do they or do they not fit an early valver?????
  13. excellent stuff, shall check it out, didnt know that they were called dust shields,cheers.......
  14. help! i have a 90 16v and i need to get hold of a rear brake back plate, does anybody know if mk2 golf ones fit or any other model for that matter....or is it just corrado ones that fit......
  15. glad to be of assistance my friend
  16. i asked this question at the start of june but all i got back was a stupid answer saying there are lots and lots and lots and lots of answers on this forum, where are they then boost monkey,i thought that you would have looked there and found the answers, hence i only got one reply and had to work it out for myself cheers...
  17. sounds stupid but i am unable to find any info on what sensor does what on the side of the 1.8 16v engine,i accidentally snapped the green one off today, the engine appears to run the same,it was running high on tickover when i got it!,i have screwed the idle screw in all the way, cleaned the isv, replaced the vacuum pipes and am unable to find any air leaks, the only way i can slow down the idle is to de-advance the timing a little,i know its wrong but otherwise it ticks over at 1100to1200rpm,any ideas would be much appreciated cheers....
  18. when it stops raining mate, gonna go to stonor park this weekend coming, weather permitting, shall give her a spruce up and post some pics up!!!
  19. found the problem!turns out to be one of the headlamp relays, swapped the dipped wires to the main headlights relay, and the dipped headlights worked, went to halfords and they do a relay that is fused, thus protecting the relay and your expensive 50% brighter bulbs they are made by ring, partno rlfk 1230f,30amp 12v relay, you will need two at £6.49pence each, brilliant idea,if anything fails just replace the fuse....
  20. rip it off and post it to essex mate, some boy will put it on his scort, looks awful!!!!!!
  21. yes it does have an uprated loom, but the main beams work,so i figured that the switch is making contact to switch the lights on,its just when i go from main to dipped that they do not work?
  22. bought my 1.8 16v in february, overly pleased with her, tornado red, grey leather, lowered, borbet c's nice car,it has had the headlight conversion done, problem is i do not know any thing about the conversion,my dipped beams have failed and do not know exactly where to start looking, done the obvious, checked fuses etc, bulbs look ok! main beam works and sidelights work,so i figure its not the switch,if anybody could throw some light {excuse the pun}to the situation it would help tremendously, its a bit of a bitch cruising around at night with no lights, cheers ...
  23. hi all!,relatively new to this corrado lark, recently purchased a 1990 tornado red 1.8 16v rado, overly happy with it,been lowered 40mm,running 16''borbet c's,discovered that the rear tyres are scrubbing out on the inside, problem being yoki's can get a bit expensive when having to keep renewing them, just wondering if any of you in corradoland can help me with advice on setting the back end up,as it looks like a fixed beam to me!!!!!
  24. sounds silly but have you checked the flow on your water pump,is your heating getting hot, sticky thermostat could possibly give similar probs.....
