someone must know, after all it is a corrado problem .
-
Right here's my problem , a while back i got the head skimmed and new gasket, it was going fine after it was fixed, i got a new car vw again and i left the c in storage for about two weeks, when i started driving it again last week it was chugging and their was not the same lift as previous, so back to the machanic and he adjusted the timing or something to do with the timing (i am not mechanially minded) anyway no -charge. the car is still the same and he said the jets might need a clean or something like that, so basically i am back to square one, has anyone any ideas or know what the problem would be, it is really $%$% me off. i will not bring it back to the same garage
-
it is the nicest corrado i seen on the forum, good stuff.
-
would tuning the car make it more ecnomical, i not mechanicaly minded but could it be it is burning to much fuel, because before i got the head gasket fixed i was getting 420miles to a full tank ?, but now it is going great but harder on the juice.
-
forgot to say,it has now a push-button start, seems very good for a vr
-
does 320 miles sound ok to a full tank of petrol around town etc, i have three cars now:2002 tdi redeye-1993 polo and of course the 2.0 1992 16v which is the car in question, also i have to sell either the polo or the corrado cause my other half cannot drive the corrado and the polo is more economical, which in turn means if i sell the polo i will rarely get to drive the tdi- who goes you decide ! cheers john

thanks mike and neil, as i work in the city i rarely get a longish run, but ever since the gasket was fixed it is noticeably harder on the juice, maybe it is because it is going better and i am giving it more poke, then someone said it should be better now that the gasket is fixed- so i give up!

regarding my last post, what are the rest of you getting on average on a full tank, ijust want to know if my car needs work (1992 16v 2.0) please john

as some on the forum might know i got a new head gasket fitted+head skim, anyway the car is going great now except for one thing, before i got the new gasket i was getting roughly 400-425 on a full tank of petrol, everytime i filled up from empty i zeroed the mileage that is how i know, now the needle is just below the halfway mark and is reading just 165 miles done so when the needle gets down near the bottom i presume i will only be getting around 280 miles on a full tank or their abouts ,any one any thoughts or could this be that something is not right. advice appreciated john

hi i was trying to replace my gear gaiotr for a new leather one and in the process of removing it i thought that the gear knob turned to come off, i ripped the gear knob, how do i get the old gaitor off do i have to take out the whole lever or what advice appreciated john
-
thanks, all that is checked ok any one any thoughts
-
thanks dazzy it is a 1992 16v 2.0, any idea about the slugishness.
-
hi everyone i just got a new head gasket fitted, the car is going a lot faster but when taking off in first gear or even 2nd at the lights etc it does not kick into full power it is quite slugish if you know what i mean and after forking out £400.00 iam quite ****** off as you can imagine, also the basrrell for the ignition is ****** so now i have a push buttton start which ruins the whole loook of the dash, so i will be looking for a second-hand barrell - i think it is called that, if anyone has one, but the main problem is the above , advice appreciated john
